Chapter 292: Chapter 292: Going Crazy After Drinking (5)_1
"Mm, you go ahead and get busy." Ji Yunhuan watched Assistant Gao leave before she couldn’t resist taking in her surroundings.
It was almost the same as before, hardly changed at all, familiar places, familiar feelings...
Looking at everything here brought back memories of living here all those years ago.
Those days were happy yet bittersweet.
-
On the other side, Qi Cheng had just arrived at the Qi Family home. As he entered, his second sister-in-law was there. Ever since Yangyang was born, she had almost entirely devoted her time to the child over the past two years. She particularly loved this child.
Seeing Qi Cheng come in, she remarked, "You still remember to come back, do you! During the New Year, you vanished, making Mom worry for so long!"
Qi Cheng got straight to the point. "Where’s Yangyang?"
"Sleeping upstairs! He should be awake by now."
"I want to take him out." Qi Cheng didn’t wait for her response and went upstairs first.
When he got up there, the baby was indeed awake.
He carried the baby downstairs. The little one, seeing his second sister-in-law, sweetly called, "Mommy," in a soft voice that was incredibly endearing.
She walked over and hugged him, understanding Qi Cheng’s intention to take the baby out. She didn’t stop him, hoping Qi Cheng would spend more time with the child since he hardly ever did.
Otherwise, she felt the baby was too pitiful.
She gave Qi Cheng some instructions while trying to coax the baby.
By the time Qi Cheng took the child out, nearly an hour had passed.
It took another two hours to get home.
Ji Yunhuan waited patiently in the living room.
Thinking about meeting the child made her extremely patient.
She knew that since Qi Cheng had agreed to let her see the child, he would not disappoint her.
After waiting for a long time and almost giving up, wondering if she should call to check, she heard the servant’s voice outside the door. "Sir is back."
Ji Yunhuan stood up eagerly, seeing Qi Cheng get out of the car with a small baby in his arms. Wasn’t it the little one she saw in the mall last year? Though it had only been a few months, he had grown a little more, his hair recently trimmed a bit shorter than before.
Yet those delicate eyebrows, that adorable baby face, he was undoubtedly her child.
Qi Cheng put the baby down. He could walk now, his short legs toddling on the floor though a bit unsteadily. When he almost fell, Qi Cheng’s large hand caught him.
The baby laughed, looking at Qi Cheng, saying something unintelligible.
Qi Cheng laughed too.
Seeing this father and son pair, Ji Yunhuan’s heart warmed up.
She couldn’t help but think, if she hadn’t left two years ago, maybe this home would have been filled with such warmth.
The door opened, Qi Cheng walked in with the child. Ji Yunhuan turned around, watching them come in.
The father and son, one big and one small, looked very much alike.
Ji Yunhuan had an impulse to rush forward but stayed rooted due to nervousness.
Qi Cheng came over with the baby, who, staying in Qi Cheng’s arms, curiously asked, "Who is she, a new servant?"
"..." Ji Yunhuan nearly fainted.
Did she give birth to him?
He actually called her a servant?
Though she dressed casually for ease of shopping today, her demeanor shouldn’t have made her look like a servant.
She really wanted to say, "I am your mother."
But remembering she hadn’t been involved in the baby’s life for the past two years, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t bring herself to say it.
She nervously looked at the baby with a gentle smile.
Qi Cheng brought the child over, placed him on the sofa, and introduced, "This is..."
Looking at Ji Yunhuan, Qi Cheng seemed unsure of how to introduce her, finally saying, "She’s my friend."
"Oh." Yangyang looked at Ji Yunhuan, then shifted his gaze back to Qi Cheng. "Uncle, you said you would take me to play. I want to play."
Ji Yunhuan, still pondering how to approach the little one and make a good impression, also wondering what to call herself... all these profound questions.
Yangyang’s address of "Uncle" left her stunned — uncle?
She asked incredulously, "He calls you uncle?"
This was her and Qi Cheng’s child!
He actually called Qi Cheng uncle?
It couldn’t be that Qi Cheng brought someone else’s child to replace him. Moreover, she felt a tear at her heart looking at this baby. He was hers, as some features resembled hers, albeit subtly.
Seeing Ji Yunhuan’s surprise was within Qi Cheng’s expectation. This was why he hadn’t wanted her to meet the boy.
But now, given the situation, saying anything more seemed pointless.
He said to Ji Yunhuan, "I’ll explain this to you later."
Ji Yunhuan’s eyes fell on the child. The child calling Qi Cheng uncle and his second sister-in-law mom. Previously in the mall, she had heard the baby call her that, thinking it was because he was too young to say "Aunt Mom" properly and just said "Mommy" directly, which was possible.
She had never imagined reality would be this harsh.
Even Qi Cheng, who had been by his side, had become an uncle. Then what was she? Aunt?
Judging by the baby’s behavior, he had clearly accepted the second sister-in-law as his mother by now.
Faced with this reality, Ji Yunhuan struggled to accept it.
All the day’s anticipation vanished at that moment.
Her gaze fixed on the child. This was the baby she carried for ten months, but now, he didn’t belong to her.
Clearly, he was her and Qi Cheng’s biological child, but now he called Qi Cheng uncle. To her, she was just a stranger.
She wanted to speak but didn’t know what to say.
Stared at by her, the baby felt uneasy and hid in Qi Cheng’s arms. "Uncle, tell her not to keep looking at me. I don’t like it."
His words stung Ji Yunhuan deeply.
Forcing a smile, she approached the child softly, "Can I hold you?"
The last time she held him was when he was one month old.
Hearing Ji Yunhuan’s request, he recoiled coldly. "No! I don’t want you to hold me. Who are you? I don’t know you."
"..." Those words, "I don’t know you," nearly made Ji Yunhuan lose her balance.
She looked at the baby—
He hid in Qi Cheng’s arms, not even willing to glance at her.
Qi Cheng saw her despondent expression, comforting her, "Yangyang is a bit shy around strangers. He’ll get used to you. It’s also good that children are cautious so they aren’t easily taken away by strangers."
"But I’m not a stranger!" Ji Yunhuan’s voice reflected her urgency.
She was his birth mother.
Seeing him, she felt an innate connection. She couldn’t believe the baby didn’t feel the same.
