Chapter 289: Chapter 289: Going Crazy After Drinking (2)_1

Wen Nuan sternly said, "You just said Yunhuan is not worthy of anyone else, only you. But in my eyes, she is worthy of every man in this world, while you, you are not worthy of loving her. You are not even worthy to appear in front of her. You are the least worthy person in this world to be with her, so please, let her go."

The momentary softness Ji Yunhuan had for Qi Cheng earlier dissipated when she heard Wen Nuan’s words. She regained some rationality and suppressed the slight mercy in her heart for Qi Cheng. "Go back! Wen Nuan is right. We should not continue this entanglement."

Qi Cheng glanced at Ji Yunhuan, eyes brimming with deep sorrow.

He thought of the time when Ji Yunhuan, desperate to leave him, jumped into the lake.

Knowing that deep hatred was buried in her heart.

She hated him, and this was why she could not forgive him.

This was why, when he was by her side, she was so eager to marry someone else.

He looked at her as if his eyes could pierce through her.

Ji Yunhuan, uneasy, tried to avert her gaze, but found her eyes felt frozen.

She believed he was not the type to listen to others, but saw him smile helplessly. "If this is truly your wish, then I will leave."

Without another word, he turned and walked out. Like a defeated lion, there was an indescribable sadness.

Ji Yunhuan could not look away. She watched Qi Cheng’s figure as he walked out of the restaurant.

She sat back down, leaning against the back of the chair. Wen Nuan looked at her. "Are you alright?"

She could see that Qi Cheng’s entanglement troubled Ji Yunhuan greatly. Hence why she stood up.

Ji Yunhuan knew that Wen Nuan stood up, risking angering Qi Cheng, possibly even losing the restaurant, yet she still chose to stand up.

The best friend in the world is no more than this—knowing she would be implicated, but still bravely standing by her side.

With Wen Nuan’s support, Ji Yunhuan felt she had no reason to waver.

"Then I’ll continue working." She took a deep breath, forced a faint smile, and stood up.

"Mm."

The rain outside poured incessantly. At home, Ji Yunhuan spent some time online before going for a bath. She was wearing pajamas, drying her wet hair with a towel.

Sitting down in front of the dressing table, she thought of Qi Cheng as she handled her hair.

For some reason, his gaze as he left stayed in her mind.

Unable to sleep, she made a cup of coffee after drying her hair.

Even though it was late at night, she felt no urge to sleep.

The streetlights outside shone quietly. She watched the rain by the window, the heaviest this spring.

Glancing downstairs, she suddenly froze.

A man, drenched, stood there. Under the streetlight, his shadow appeared lonely and desolate. He stood there, unmoving.

Ji Yunhuan immediately recognized him as Qi Cheng.

Alone, without any entourage, he stood there in the pouring rain.

He clearly said he would leave, so why now appear downstairs again?

Ji Yunhuan secretly watched him for a full half-hour. When he showed no sign of leaving, she couldn’t help but open the door and walk down.

Aunt Liu was already asleep, for it was very late. Though she was a servant, she still needed rest. Ji Yunhuan didn’t wake her. Ji Yunhuan found an umbrella, opened the door, and walked out. The rain was heavy, hitting the umbrella with loud pops, almost as if it could break it.

She walked over and struggled to open the yard gate. At first glance, she saw Qi Cheng standing in the rain, looking extremely disheveled—

Soaking in the rain for so long, not a single part of him was dry.

From across the road, she looked at him, feeling a deep ache in her heart.

She knew she loved this man.

Yet, she never understood why she was always afraid to face her feelings for him.

As long as he appeared, as long as she realized her feelings for him, she couldn’t help but want to escape.

She repeatedly shut him out and repeatedly hurt him.

Seeing him like this, she truly felt a deep sense of guilt.

When Qi Cheng saw her, he paused for two seconds. Then, like a drowning man seeing hope, he walked towards her.

He wobbled as he walked, as if about to collapse.

Ji Yunhuan was sure he was drunk!

She hurried out, not minding her slippers getting soaked, and caught him just before he fell.

He was drenched. After being in the rain for so long, his body was ice-cold.

"Why did you drink so much?" Are you crazy?

He was never like this.

But now... he had become a completely irrational drunkard.

Thinking it over, it was all because of her!

Because of her, he mistreated himself this way.

Qi Cheng didn’t answer. Ji Yunhuan threw the umbrella aside and forcefully helped him inside.

Unlike the Qi Family’s home, there was no elevator here. She half-carried, half-dragged Qi Cheng upstairs, struggling for half an hour.

Ji Yunhuan changed out of her wet clothes and came out with a dry towel. Qi Cheng was sitting in a chair, watching her. His dark eyes were filled with drunkenness, but within them lay deep affection.

He looked at her tenderly, eyes seemingly drowning in her.

In his calm moments, his gaze was always restrained.

You couldn’t see his thoughts.

But when drunk and unguarded, his eyes showed nothing but endless love and admiration for her.

Like she was a goddess of light, while he was a devout worshipper living in eternal darkness.

He loved her, revered her, and she was the most important thing in his heart.

Ji Yunhuan felt uneasy under his gaze. "You are soaked. You need to take a bath. It’s not very cold these days, but still, you should be careful not to catch a cold."

As she spoke, Qi Cheng, sitting in the chair, stared at her intensely.

He didn’t move.

He was too drunk to undress himself.

Ji Yunhuan had no choice but to help him. After all, he had already taken advantage of her.

She reached out to unbutton his shirt. He wore a black shirt today. If not for the streetlight, she wouldn’t have recognized him.

Qi Cheng watched her undress him, not resisting, like a well-behaved child.

Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Ji Yunhuan asked, "Why did you come looking for me?"

"Missed you." His answer was straightforward and simple.

Ji Yunhuan looked at him and saw a faint smile on his face. For some reason, looking at him, she couldn’t help but laugh.

"Don’t drink so much next time, okay? Now, raise your hands!" She helped him remove his shirt.
