Chapter 247: Chapter 247 Entering the Wrong Room (3)_1

He quickly rushed over, initially intending to knock and see who dared meddle in his affairs, but when he saw the sign on the door, he couldn’t help but pause.

"What’s the matter, Director Tang?"

"Forget it. We can’t afford to offend the person inside. Let’s go downstairs and wait for her." Tang Yin glanced angrily at the door.

He didn’t expect Ji Yunhuan would run in there.

However, everyone knew that Ji Yunhuan had been dumped by Qi Cheng.

He didn’t think Ji Yunhuan had any chance left with Qi Cheng.

If there was a chance, she wouldn’t have let him bully her like this today.

"Ms. Ji, please come in." Assistant Gao led Ji Yunhuan inside.

Qi Cheng sat there, with a laptop in front of him, seemingly working. He looked up and immediately saw Ji Yunhuan.

The moment their eyes met, Ji Yunhuan felt her heart clench.

She had thought that leaving Qi Cheng, she would quickly forget everything about him, but unexpectedly, after two years, she still couldn’t forget the look he gave her when she left.

She had an urge to turn and leave, but then she felt that doing so would make her seem guilty.

Gao Nian bowed to Qi Cheng and then left. Qi Cheng held a pen tightly in his hand, but his face showed no extra emotion. He just stared at her as if seeing a stranger.

Once Gao Nian left, the room fell silent. The light from the ceiling fell on her, dressed in a black professional suit, standing there with a different aura than two years ago.

Ji Yunhuan stood in the room, struggling over whether to turn and leave, but then saw a trace of ridicule flash in Qi Cheng’s eyes.

He mocked, "I didn’t expect that after two years, my wife, Ji Yunhuan, would end up in such a pathetic state."

Probably no one in the world would want to show their pathetic side in front of their ex, and Ji Yunhuan was no exception.

Qi Cheng’s ridicule completely wiped away any lingering concerns she had about the past.

In fact, she didn’t know how to face him—this man who made her both love and hate him.

Since he no longer treated her as he used to, she found no reason to be polite to her adversary, either.

She looked at Qi Cheng and said defiantly, "That’s too bad, Mr. Qi, for embarrassing yourself. Thanks for your help. I’m leaving."

Not seeing each other for two years, she glanced at him and wanted to leave.

Qi Cheng looked at her back, recalling how pathetic he had been when she abandoned him in the hospital.

Yet, even so, when he looked at this woman, he naively hoped that she might miss him a little.

Ji Yunhuan hurriedly wanted to escape. She found that after the events of two years ago, she no longer knew how to face this man.

Assistant Gao, who had just brought her in, was nowhere to be found. She walked to the door, twisted the handle twice, but it wouldn’t open.

She turned around and glared at Qi Cheng sitting there, her eyes full of anger. "Mr. Qi, what is the meaning of this?"

He had actually had the door locked from the outside!

This kind of behavior was no different from Tang Yin, who wanted to take advantage of her.

Qi Cheng put down the pen in his hand and walked toward her without any expression. The smoky gray shirt he wore had a unique depth and nobility.

As he approached her, Ji Yunhuan’s heart beat faster.

She took a step back, leaning against the door, avoiding his strong presence while pretending to be calm. "Qi Cheng, I’m telling you, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Don’t you dare!"

"Dare?" Qi Cheng incredulously raised the corners of his mouth, not stopping his approach. He braced a hand against the wall, looking at her nervous and uneasy expression, a mocking smile on his lips. "By the look of you, I’d say you’re hoping I’ll dare, aren’t you?"

"What?" Ji Yunhuan glared at him, ashamed and angry. "You’re shameless. If I had known, I wouldn’t have entered your room!"

Qi Cheng stared at her and snorted through his nose. He grabbed Ji Yunhuan with one hand, and as she struggled, gently turned the door handle with the other, opening the door.

Seeing this scene, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t stay calm.

Damn!

What did this mean?

Qi Cheng looked at her. "Now it should be me asking, Ms. Ji, what do you mean by this? Are you sure you’re not trying to stay here and seduce me?"

Ji Yunhuan’s face heated with unprecedented embarrassment. She reached out and turned the door handle the same way he did, realizing that she had just failed to find the trick to opening the door.

It turned out she was just clumsy. And yet, she thought he had intentionally locked the door on her.

Her ears were burning.

You know, in all her years, she’d never been this embarrassed.

Too guilty to look at Qi Cheng, she pushed the door open to leave, but Qi Cheng grabbed the handle, pulled the door shut again, and looked at her. "In such a hurry to leave?"

"What just happened was a misunderstanding! I was wrong." She was reluctant to admit her mistake, but she had indeed been ridiculously wrong.

Thinking of the scene just now, she almost wanted to slap herself twice; no wonder Qi Cheng thought she was deliberately seducing him.

Qi Cheng looked down at the little woman leaning against the door. "No matter. All the women who leave me think of ways to return. You’ve just made the same mistake every woman makes. I don’t mind."

"I didn’t." Ji Yunhuan didn’t want him to misunderstand. "I really couldn’t open the door!"

He extended his finger, hooking her chin gently and drawing close. His breath surrounded her. "Is it that hard to admit you want to come back to me? You’re still the same, saying one thing and meaning another."

"..." Ji Yunhuan was at a loss for words.

He was too good at twisting the truth.

Qi Cheng drew close, inhaling her scent. She was still so...so irresistible to him. He reached out, lightly brushing a lock of her hair. His voice was calm, like the emperor’s to Consort Lin Xing: "Luckily, I’m free tonight. I don’t mind dining with you."

"But I mind." Ji Yunhuan interrupted his fantasy with a cold face. "I’d rather have dinner with that rogue Tang Yin than with a man I once dumped. I may be useless, but I’m not desperate enough to go back to an ex."

"..." Hearing the words "dumped man," Qi Cheng’s eyes darkened. He let go of her and looked at her with a soft laugh. "In your eyes, I’m just a dumped man?"

Ji Yunhuan didn’t want to give him or herself any hope. Leaving so ruthlessly before, how could they possibly be together again now?

Since they couldn’t be together, why leave any fantasies behind?
