Chapter 219: Chapter 219 Yun Huan is Pregnant (14)_1
Qi Cheng embraced her from behind, holding her hand tightly. "Didn’t I tell you it wasn’t that serious? You always overthink things."
Ji Yunhuan knew she was mostly at fault for this argument. "Next time, I’ll make sure to ask clearly."
Thinking back, she wondered if there was any hope left for her and Qi Cheng.
Maybe this was just a punishment for her distrust.
Qi Cheng said, "I might have made many mistakes in the past, but from now on, I promise I will only spoil you, only love you. I won’t be good to anyone else. Maybe you don’t believe these words, but... people do change. For you, I’ll change. Ever since I met you, I’ve been thinking, if only I had met you ten years earlier, maybe we wouldn’t have these misunderstandings."
"Ten years ago, I would have been a minor. Are you planning to commit a crime?"
Ji Yunhuan glanced at him.
He chuckled, "True."
"I’m a bit hungry, I want to eat something," she said.
Qi Cheng looked at her. "Didn’t you eat at home?"
"You were rushing me the whole time. How could I eat in peace?"
"I knew it. I already had things prepared." Qi Cheng stood up, guiding her to the dining room.
The servants had indeed prepared food for her.
"How did you know I would come over without eating?" Ji Yunhuan thought he was calculating too precisely.
"Heavens, how could I? When you’re not around, I can’t eat. I was just waiting for you to come back and eat with me."
"Hah, so you did it for yourself."
"What’s the big deal between us?" He led her to sit down.
The female housekeeper stood beside them and said, "Ma’am’s appetite hasn’t been good lately, so these are specially prepared for you. Please try them."
Ji Yunhuan took some food and ate a bit. Maybe because Qi Cheng was by her side, her appetite improved.
"These two days, let’s not go back. Let’s stay here," Qi Cheng said to her.
"Won’t Mom and Second Sister-in-law be upset?" They treated her so well, spoiled her like a treasure. Ji Yunhuan felt a bit worried.
Qi Cheng felt confident in his ability to take care of her. "Don’t worry about them."
"Aren’t you afraid Mom will scold you?" She smiled at him. Actually, she didn’t want to go back either, preferring to stay with Qi Cheng.
Qi Cheng smiled, "As long as you’re by my side, I’m not afraid of anything."
"Ugh, as if I can protect you."
"Wife." He suddenly spoke seriously.
"What?"
"I love you."
"..." Ji Yunhuan’s heart fluttered. Then she looked at him disdainfully. "Don’t you feel cheesy?"
"I’m just happy. You never call me ’husband.’" He seemed to think it was unfair.
"Didn’t I call you that before?" When they first got married.
Qi Cheng frowned, "How long ago was that? And back then, you weren’t sincere. Come on, call me that once."
"No way." The more he insisted, the more she stubbornly refused.
She just liked calling him Qi Cheng.
"Not happy," Qi Cheng said gloomily.
They hadn’t finished eating when Second Sister-in-law called, "Yunhuan, are you and Qi Cheng coming back tonight?"
"Second Sister-in-law, we’re not coming back."
"Made up? Not fighting anymore?" Second Sister-in-law asked in surprise. She thought Ji Yunhuan wouldn’t forgive Qi Cheng so quickly.
Ji Yunhuan laughed, "It was a misunderstanding. He has explained clearly."
"Is that so? As long as it’s a misunderstanding. If Qi Cheng behaves like Big Brother, you should never forgive him. Men can’t be spoiled. Once you spoil them, they’ll just..."
Before Second Sister-in-law finished speaking, Qi Cheng grabbed the phone and complained rudely, "Second Sister-in-law, are you really my sister-in-law? You always add fuel to the fire."
"It’s your own fault. Why did you get entangled with Xia Duo for no reason?"
"Alright, we’re hanging up. Don’t call again for now." Qi Cheng glanced at Ji Yunhuan, gripping her hand tightly as if afraid Second Sister-in-law would steal her away.
After eating, Ji Yunhuan listened to music while Qi Cheng read a parenting book. He seemed intent on being a full-time dad, studying how to care for the baby every day.
Ji Yunhuan’s phone rang. With his long arms, Qi Cheng passed it to her, glancing at the screen. "Who’s this?"
"Who?" Ji Yunhuan took the phone, glanced at it, and saw it was Li Longtao calling. She hadn’t saved his name, just an English nickname.
She quickly grabbed it. "A friend."
"What friend?"
"Not telling you." She had never mentioned Li Longtao, and since it was work-related, she didn’t want to tell Qi Cheng. Besides, she wanted to have some secrets of her own.
Qi Cheng sat beside her while Ji Yunhuan answered the call. Li Longtao said there was an event this week and asked if she wanted to go. Ji Yunhuan declined.
Now that she was pregnant, she was being watched wherever she went.
After hanging up, she found Qi Cheng staring at her sternly. He concluded, "It’s a man. An unknown man."
Because Ji Yunhuan rarely contacted anyone, he hadn’t paid much attention before.
A smile spread across Ji Yunhuan’s face. She loved his jealous side. "What, afraid I’ll betray you? Don’t worry, I’m not that bored."
"Then why don’t you tell me who it is?"
"It’s work-related." That’s all she could say.
"You haven’t worked in a long time."
"Don’t you believe me?" She frowned seriously.
Qi Cheng, afraid she would get angry, sighed helplessly, "Alright, alright, I won’t ask."
He knew she wouldn’t betray him, but he was still interested in anything about her.
Qi Cheng sat there, reading for a while longer. Suddenly he said, "Yunhuan, I’ve been thinking about what gift to give our child when they’re born."
"What do you want to give?" She felt like she couldn’t keep up with his thoughts.
The baby was so small, and he was already thinking about gifts?
"Of course, not just any gift."
"You’re not thinking of giving him a small island or something, are you?" Ji Yunhuan asked curiously.
She recalled the gifts Qi Cheng had given her—buildings, shopping streets, villas. This man had no concept of money.
Back then, she was surprised. Later, considering his grandfather’s status, she wasn’t.
Qi Cheng responded seriously, "It’s doable, but not practical. He’s too young."
"I was just joking." Ji Yunhuan sighed.
Qi Cheng glanced at her, smiled, and continued reading his parenting book.
At midnight, Ji Yunhuan was shaken awake by the man beside her. "Yunhuan, I’ve thought of it!"
"Thought of what?" She opened her eyes in confusion, completely out of sync with him.
"A gift for our son."
