Chapter 170: Chapter 170: The Simplest Gift_1
"It’s okay." He had a serious expression.
Su Zi smiled helplessly, "This seems to be the first time you’ve chosen me over your sister." Though Chenchen often stayed with her, she knew that in his heart, Ji Yunhuan held a special place.
Therefore, as a smart girl, she never forced him to choose, nor did she make things difficult for him.
But now, he was willing to make his sister angry and come out with her. She was really happy.
Even if this was a meaningless choice to others, it was enough for her. Truly enough!
She walked towards the kitchen, "I’ll see if there’s anything to eat. I’m a bit hungry."
Actually, since that night her mother met Chenchen, she had been told not to be with him. But she persisted in her own beliefs. Until her parents tried to forcibly take her away, she slowly developed this bold idea. Having not eaten since breakfast due to her distress, she was famished.
Finally, after making the boldest decision of her life, she realized it had drained nearly all her energy.
Her friend had prepared everything here for her in advance.
While cooking, Su Zi received a call from her friend, asking how she was doing.
Everything here was well-prepared.
Su Zi made some food.
Although she was born into a privileged family, independence was always emphasized at home. So cooking such a small task was not difficult for her.
Chenchen watched her busying around and came over, "Do you need my help?"
"No, no. You sit down. I’ll be done soon." She rolled up her sleeves and flipped the eggs in the pan, smelling the delicious aroma.
While they were enjoying life so much, Ji Yunhuan was like an ant on a hot pan, the agony causing her heart to ache.
She took a deep breath and parked the car by the roadside. Not long after, Bai Liyan, who had called her, arrived. In the evening light, he got out of a white BMW, still wearing a white coat. He walked up to her, "What’s going on? I heard Chenchen is missing."
Ji Yunhuan briefly told him about Su Zi taking Chenchen.
"Did he bring his medication?" Bai Liyan asked.
Ji Yunhuan had checked immediately, "He took it with him."
"That’s good. Don’t worry too much. As long as he has the medication, he should be fine as long as nothing major happens." Bai Liyan had always been especially attentive with Chenchen’s case.
Ji Yunhuan looked at the river shrouded in darkness, reflecting the city lights. Her heart felt something elusive. Even though Bai Liyan said Chenchen would be fine, she still felt helpless and lost.
Seeing her silent, Bai Liyan couldn’t help but glance at her a few more times. After spending so much time together, he knew how deep her feelings for Chenchen were.
He said, "Su Zi has been caring for Chenchen. She won’t let anything happen to him, don’t worry. If there’s a problem, Su Zi will contact me right away. She’s already eighteen, she can distinguish between priorities."
"Let’s hope so." Ji Yunhuan pursed her pretty lips. But, if Su Zi were that rational, she wouldn’t have taken Chenchen to such a risky area. After all, she was still an immature child.
"You’re not planning to stand here in the cold all night, are you?" Bai Liyan asked.
"I don’t know what to do." City A might not be that big but finding two people in it was like finding a needle in a haystack.
"Qi Cheng has people monitoring the hospitals and hotels. Don’t worry. If they show up, he’ll find Su Zi and Chenchen immediately." Bai Liyan usually didn’t like her but tonight, for some reason, he couldn’t help but comfort her.
Hearing Bai Liyan’s words, Ji Yunhuan frowned, got into the car, and called Qi Cheng.
"What’s up?" Qi Cheng couldn’t help but wonder if she had found them.
"Stop monitoring the hospitals and hotels," Ji Yunhuan said.
"Why?" Qi Cheng paused.
"If you monitor every hospital and hotel, where would they stay? And if something happens to Chenchen, where would they go?" Su Zi chose this way because she hoped not to be found. She’s always been clever and aware of these nuances; she’d act cautiously.
Forcing them too much would only drive them into a dead end. Ji Yunhuan did not want to see that situation.
After hearing Ji Yunhuan’s words, Qi Cheng knew she genuinely cared for the two of them. "Alright! I’ll have people look for them more gradually."
Rather than using forceful methods, giving them some space might take longer to find them, but at least it would give them a chance.
Given Chenchen’s condition, they couldn’t stay outside for too long. They would come back eventually.
Ji Yunhuan and Bai Liyan returned to the Qi Residence together. She ate a little, went upstairs, and had contacts brought to her, people who were acquainted with Su Zi. She had some questions for them.
Su Zi, a young girl, if not for someone’s help, finding a safe place with Chenchen under such tension would be nearly impossible.
Qi Cheng had this thought too. But he didn’t expect Ji Yunhuan to think of it as well. Despite being flustered by Chenchen’s situation, she could calm down quickly at this moment.
The more she cared, the more attention she paid to everything.
That might just be her way of doing things.
Su Zi and Chenchen had finished their meal. Right after Chenchen took his medication, Su Zi’s friend called, "A’Zi."
"What’s up?"
"A woman named Ji just called asking if I knew where you were."
She had promised Su Zi and hadn’t said anything.
Su Zi said, "Don’t tell anyone."
"Mm, mm. I know. Stay safe." Su Zi’s friend quickly hung up.
Chenchen sat beside her, folding paper cranes with his long, clean fingers.
After Su Zi hung up, their eyes met.
Chenchen asked, "What’s wrong?"
"My friend called. She said your sister asked about me." She hadn’t expected Ji Yunhuan to track down her friends so quickly.
What a clever woman!
Chenchen knew Ji Yunhuan would worry about him.
But seeing Su Zi’s serious look, he couldn’t dwell on those complex issues.
He placed the folded paper crane in front of her, "For you."
Su Zi looked at it, her eyes warmed.
"Thank you."
Such a simple little thing made her feel it held all his sentiments.
"Do you like it so much?" He saw the emotion in her eyes, a bit surprised.
