Chapter 168: Chapter 168 They Eloped_1

The next evening, Bai Liyan came over. After checking on Young Master Chenchen, he came and said, "Your aunt came to see me today."

"Really?" Qi Cheng was helping Ji Yunhuan organize books, "What did she say?"

It was definitely something related to them; otherwise, Bai Liyan wouldn’t have brought it up.

Sure enough...

Bai Liyan began, "She asked me about the relationship between Chenchen and A’Zi. She also asked about Chenchen’s health condition. From her expression, it seemed she really doesn’t want Su Zi and Chenchen to be together. So, you should be mentally prepared."

Ji Yunhuan was sitting by the heater. Upon hearing Bai Liyan’s words, her heart inexplicably skipped a beat. She calmly said, "It’s normal that she doesn’t want Chenchen and Su Zi to be together."

Given her past with Su Molang and Chenchen’s weak health, Su’s mother’s reaction was expected.

But what about Chenchen?

He was so innocent!

He merely encountered someone he liked, yet wasn’t allowed to be with her. How must he be feeling?

"It’s good that you understand." Bai Liyan was used to her calm demeanor. "By the way, there’s something else I want to discuss with you."

"What is it?"

"The matter of Chenchen’s surgery."

Ji Yunhuan knew Bai Liyan had been studying Chenchen’s case. His deep concern for Chenchen was his way of challenging himself, trying to find a chance for Chenchen to survive. Though he had mentioned the success rate was less than five percent, he was always enthusiastic about creating miracles.

Now, with this bold proposal, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. She looked at Bai Liyan, "You want to do the surgery?"

"I do. We’ve been researching this recently, but the final decision is yours. Should he continue living like this, or should we give him a chance to regain his health? You, as his family, have the right to decide." Bai Liyan said.

Ji Yunhuan pressed her lips together, "I don’t know."

Any surgery comes with risks, especially for Chenchen, whose health was poor, making the success rate slim.

"Take your time to think about it. I’ll keep preparing, waiting for you to decide." Bai Liyan stood up, "I should go; I have some work to do."

As he walked out, Qi Cheng sat by Ji Yunhuan, holding her tight. "If it feels too complicated, don’t think about it for now."

Ji Yunhuan clasped her hands together, "You know, I dream of Chenchen regaining his health."

She had always wanted to find Bai Liyan.

Hoping to give Chenchen another chance.

Qi Cheng nodded, "I know."

"But I can’t bear the risk of losing Chenchen. He’s my only family in this world." She loved her brother so much. Without Chenchen, she didn’t know how her life would continue.

"I know."

"Life is really unfair. Sometimes, I wish I could be like you, with so many people to face everything with."

Qi Cheng’s eyes darkened. He thought of her parents and the past. "They will also be your family in the future."

Ji Yunhuan looked at him and wrapped her arms around his neck, "Qi Cheng, I’m so glad you’re here."

Her words moved his heart. He gently captured her lips, "Then let’s stay together forever."

"That sounds so fake." She laughed.

He gazed at her with such intensity that Ji Yunhuan’s smile gradually disappeared.

He solemnly said, "I mean it."

"Oh."

"Qi Cheng, that’s enough. Do you know where we are? What if someone comes? Do you still want to face others?"

"Then shall we go upstairs?" Although he knew no one would come today.

"Can’t you ever think of something good?"

"Isn’t this good?"

"You’re so unserious." She gave him a look, and Qi Cheng lifted her up.

But instead of going to the bedroom, they went to the study.

She had an exam to prepare for recently. Qi Cheng accompanied her to study.

He looked at her and said, "Those certificates are useless. It doesn’t matter if you pass or not."

"Well, I want to do something. You can’t expect me to be unserious with you every day!"

"Being with me, you think it’s unserious?" Qi Cheng looked at her with a helpless expression, "After all, I love you so much."

Ji Yunhuan was at a loss for words.

Avoiding the topic, "Look at this question with me."

He seriously began to review it.

When Ji Yunhuan finished her exam and returned, it was a clear day though still somewhat cold. She saw Su Zi walking past her dejectedly and couldn’t help but call out, "Su Zi."

Su Zi stopped, her face showing complex emotions. She glanced at Ji Yunhuan. Ji Yunhuan asked, "What’s wrong? Why do you look like this?"

"Nothing." She didn’t go to see Chenchen but went upstairs to her room.

Not long after Su Zi got home, Father Su and Mother Su returned.

Ji Yunhuan greeted them. They politely nodded, their attitude colder than before.

In the living room, Father Su said, "We’ve disturbed Qi Cheng for many days. We plan to move out tomorrow."

Qi Cheng courteously tried to retain them, "You haven’t disturbed us. You’re welcome to stay here."

"How can we keep imposing on you?" Father Su said, "Moreover, A’Zi has disturbed you for a while, and we want to take her back. Her classes here are almost over."

Ji Yunhuan listened quietly. Hearing this and recalling Su Zi’s reaction earlier, she realized something.

They didn’t want to impose on Qi Cheng?

Clearly, they didn’t want Su Zi to stay with Chenchen anymore.

"Dinner is almost ready. I’ll go call Su Zi down." Feeling heavy-hearted, she didn’t want to stay and listen to any more conversation. She went upstairs and knocked on Su Zi’s door but found no response.

"Where is she?" She distinctly remembered that Su Zi came straight up after returning this afternoon and didn’t see her go down.

"Ms. Su Zi? I don’t know." The maid looked puzzled too.

Ji Yunhuan opened the door and saw that Su Zi wasn’t there. She went to Chenchen’s side, thinking she should be with him. Usually, at home, she spent the most time with Chenchen.

Servants in the annex watched Ji Yunhuan enter with anxious faces, "Young Master Chenchen is not inside."

"He’s not there. So where did they go?"

"Ms. Su Zi said she would take him out for a walk and didn’t want us to follow. We just searched all around but couldn’t find them. We are still looking." The maids were very uneasy. Given Chenchen’s status in the family, even higher than Qi Cheng’s, any mistake could worsen Chenchen’s condition, a consequence they couldn’t bear.
