Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Every Trick in the Book to Coax a Woman_1
"Humph."
She neither denied it.
Qi Cheng looked at her, then suddenly smiled and said, "So, you liked me from that time?"
If she hadn’t liked him, she wouldn’t have been jealous at that time.
"I didn’t!" Ji Yunhuan didn’t want to admit she had liked him for so long.
Qi Cheng laughed, "Yes, you did."
He pulled her into his arms, letting her lean against his chest, "I really didn’t do anything with Ms. Xingwei that time. I went to her place but left right after taking a shower."
"Are you kidding me?" She couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him.
"I’m not lying." Qi Cheng spoke seriously, "At that time, I thought about you every day. I didn’t want to be too obsessed with you. That’s why I went to see Ms. Xingwei. I thought I could distract myself, but the moment I saw her, I just felt irritated."
"You’re quite the Mr. Qi, always sweet-talking women." Ji Yunhuan didn’t believe he could be that good.
So, he went to Ms. Xingwei’s place and left without doing anything?
Plus, he didn’t come home several days after that.
"If you don’t believe me, next time let’s call Ms. Xingwei here and ask her." On this matter, Qi Cheng showed no guilt at all.
After all, he hadn’t done anything shameless.
Ji Yunhuan saw his sincere look and somehow began to believe him, feeling a bit happy inside.
Even if it was a lie, it was okay!
She didn’t want to think too much.
That incident had always been a knot in her heart. Now that it was untied, she felt inexplicably happy.
After taking a shower, the two put on their clothes.
After messing around in bed for so long, Ji Yunhuan felt a bit hungry.
She followed Qi Cheng downstairs and said, "I’ll cook for you today, but you can’t be picky."
"Okay." He agreed.
Entering the kitchen, there were some ingredients left from breakfast that the servants had left behind.
Apparently, the female housekeeper had prepared these.
Ji Yunhuan took the cooking ingredients out of the fridge, while Qi Cheng walked outside.
She could see him from the window out there.
She remembered when she was little, her dad would always play with her and her sister in the yard after work, while her mom would cook in this kitchen, watching the family with gentle eyes.
That beautiful image was still vivid in Ji Yunhuan’s mind. Now the one standing in the kitchen was no longer her mother, but herself.
Outside, Qi Cheng looked at the yard, lost in thought.
Ji Yunhuan watched his figure and suddenly thought if there could be two children around him, this house would be complete.
Life always brings unexpected things.
She had thought marrying Qi Cheng was like stepping into the grave of marriage, living a loveless life. But she never expected that one day, she would be thankful she married him.
Sensing her gaze, Qi Cheng turned around, just in time to see Ji Yunhuan lower her head.
Her long hair was tied back, and with her head down, her bangs fell down, her face filled with concentration.
She never liked cooking before. When she was alone, she would eat out, rarely cooking at home. Only when she thought of visiting her sister would she try to make some soup for her.
Now, she was cooking because of him.
That meant, she considered him one of the most important people to her.
Ji Yunhuan turned around, just in time to see Qi Cheng coming in from outside. She hadn’t rushed him; she simply let him stay beside her.
Halfway through the cooking, Ji Yunhuan said, "By the way, there’s something I should tell you."
"What?"
"Sister-in-law said, if you keep Ye Suya at home, she’ll take revenge on you."
"Uh..." Qi Cheng raised an eyebrow, curiously looking at her serious face, "Are you worried about me?"
Ji Yunhuan said lightly, "Not at all. Gu Yubai went to the Qi Residence to see Sister-in-law, and it seems she’s planning to help the Gu Family. So, I’m telling you."
"That’s typical of my Sister-in-law." Qi Cheng said, "But no matter how much she helps, the Gu Family is already like that."
Ji Yunhuan picked up a piece of meat with chopsticks and placed it in his mouth, "Try it. How is it?"
"A bit tough." He said, being quite picky.
"You said you wouldn’t be picky." Ji Yunhuan puffed out her cheeks.
He smiled and changed his tone, "Hmm, it’s okay. It’s barely edible."
"Is that supposed to be a compliment?" Well, at least he said it was edible.
After feeding him, Ji Yunhuan looked at his face, "Qi Cheng."
She had a sudden seriousness, indicating she had something to say. Qi Cheng asked, "What is it?"
"Can’t you tell me why you’re helping big brother? I remember you used to disapprove of him being with Ye Suya."
This question caused Qi Cheng’s eyes to darken.
Because this matter involved whether he would lose her.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t explain anything to her.
He said, "It’s nothing. Big Brother came to me and spoke sincerely. I didn’t know how to refuse. After all, he’s my brother. I remember when I was little, he always took me to play. When I was bullied, he always stood up for me."
"You were bullied?" Ji Yunhuan couldn’t believe it.
"When I was little! When we’re kids, who cares who you are?" He said, looking at her, "Weren’t you ever bullied when you were little?"
"No." Ji Yunhuan said, "I always bullied others. They all thought I was scary. I don’t know why." People like Ouyang Fei and Gu Xinran were terrified of her when they were little.
She actually didn’t think she was that mean to them.
But she always had no friends.
Pouring the braised pork from the clay pot, Ji Yunhuan noticed Qi Cheng staring at her.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
He was intently watching her every move.
Hearing her question, he smiled, "I like hearing about your childhood."
"Sure!" Once she started, she couldn’t stop. By the end of the meal, both had shared almost all of their childhood stories.
They were both lucky, growing up well in their respective childhoods.
For two consecutive days, Ji Yunhuan and Qi Cheng lived in the house. Ji Yunhuan cooked and washed clothes, while Qi Cheng sometimes helped her carry heavy items.
They went shopping together, bought things for each other...
Even with these small, mundane moments, there was an unprecedented warmth.
No matter how picky he was, Qi Cheng always finished whatever Ji Yunhuan cooked. Seeing him appreciate her food made Ji Yunhuan happy.
They seemed like an ordinary couple.
One morning, the bedroom door was knocked on. Ji Yunhuan woke up from Qi Cheng’s arms, glanced at him, "Who is it?"
He let go of her and stood up, putting on his robe, walking out. The female housekeeper stood at the door, "Sir."
"What is it?"
"Today, Mrs. Qi came to the house."
So it was the Sister-in-law. Qi Cheng knew she went to the house to cause trouble for Ye Suya!
