Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin -
Chapter 111 Numb_1
Chapter 111: Chapter 111 Numb_1
Ji Yunhuan squatted down and touched its head. Since there were servants taking care of it every day, Qi Qi’s fur looked very smooth and was very clean, without any strange smell.
Here at Qi Cheng’s place, this dog lived a life more luxurious than most people; it could truly be called a ’winner in life.’
Ji Yunhuan led it around for a walk.
When they got to the lake, they saw Qi Cheng sitting alone on a white wooden bench by the shore.
The wind created ripples on the surface of the lake.
He wore a white shirt and a black suit jacket without a tie, sitting there quietly. When Ji Yunhuan saw him, she didn’t hurry to leave.
After all, she was still his wife.
She still had to rely on him to live.
Moreover, it was because of her that Su Molang passed away, leading to all these events.
If it weren’t for Qi Cheng saving her during her lowest point, she had no idea what kind of life she would be living now...
Thinking this, she walked over.
Qi Cheng lifted his head at the sound of footsteps. A touch of gentleness appeared in his dark eyes.
Ji Yunhuan composed her complex emotions and looked at Qi Cheng. "Why are you here alone?"
Qi Cheng didn’t expect Ji Yunhuan to be willing to talk to him, and her attitude was relatively good.
Did she really not hate him?
Or, was she just enduring for Chenchen’s sake and for reality?
For some reason, after she learned the truth, he actually hoped she would curse him, hate him, rather than staying like this...
Ji Yunhuan sat down beside him.
The lake breeze blew through her long hair. A strand of it clung to her face. He wanted to reach out and smooth it for her but hesitated and withdrew his hand.
This action made Ji Yunhuan feel awkward.
When she didn’t know the truth, it was okay. Now that she knew, there always seemed to be something off.
Seeing him not answering her question, Ji Yunhuan said, "I heard from the servants that you stayed in the study all night last night. Qi Cheng, you don’t take care of your own body. As your wife, it’s hard for me. When Mom left, she asked me to take good care of you."
Qi Cheng glanced at her. "Why?"
"What?"
"Why don’t you hate me?" Why come to care for him?
He found it quite ridiculous.
She wasn’t the type to be influenced by a few words from Mother Qi.
"Hate you?" Ji Yunhuan looked at him. Perhaps she should hate him? After all, this was considered a deceptive marriage, right?
But they were already married. What could she do?
She steadied herself. "Didn’t you say that we would divorce after the matter with the Gu Family Residence was resolved? Until then, we’re still husband and wife!"
Before, seeing Ji Yunhuan’s attitude toward Su Zi, Qi Cheng had no hope.
Now, hearing Ji Yunhuan say this, he was more than just surprised.
Seeing his stiff expression, Ji Yunhuan asked, "Don’t you agree?"
She lowered her head. "You’re right. I was being naive."
In his eyes, she was not just his wife; she was also the culprit responsible for his friend’s death.
It was probably his best effort not to hate her.
Ji Yunhuan stood up. "I’ll go somewhere else now and not disturb you."
Just as she was about to leave, Qi Cheng grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms forcefully.
His actions were full of dominance.
Ji Yunhuan looked up at him, catching sight of his chin and smelling the lingering scent of aftershave.
His sudden embrace made her body stiffen.
She was about to speak when her shallow breath brushed against his chin, triggering something in him. He lowered his head and found her lips.
Despite knowing she hated and disliked him, he couldn’t control his impulses.
Her lips, to him, were the source of his obsession.
The words from her mouth could make him happy or sad; his emotions were entirely at her mercy.
Ji Yunhuan pushed him a couple of times, but it was useless, so she gave up struggling temporarily.
The faint warmth from Qi Cheng’s lips spread to her heart, making her heart beat faster despite her efforts to control it.
When he finally let her go, Ji Yunhuan’s lips were numb and had lost all sensation.
She stepped back, covering her mouth and glaring at Qi Cheng.
When Qi Cheng realized what he had done, he looked at her angry eyes and couldn’t help but say, "I’m sorry."
This apology only fueled Ji Yunhuan’s anger.
Although she didn’t like him treating her this way, she was his wife, after all. Logically, there was nothing wrong with it.
Yet, his apology made the situation awkward for both of them.
"If you’re really sorry, you should control yourself!"
Ji Yunhuan gave him a cold look, then turned away. Qi Qi, standing nearby, saw her leaving and quickly followed.
Qi Cheng watched her back and followed her steps.
The two of them and the dog walked back from the lake and ran into Su Zi.
Ji Yunhuan stopped walking.
Seeing Su Zi again, her feelings towards Su Zi were no longer just dislike; there was also a hint of guilt.
Su Zi ignored her and said to Qi Cheng, "I’m here to get some things."
She had left in a hurry that day, so she had forgotten some belongings here.
Qi Cheng walked over and patted her shoulder. "Come inside!"
He then accompanied Su Zi upstairs to gather her belongings.
Ji Yunhuan stood outside Su Zi’s old room, listening to them talking inside.
Qi Cheng asked Su Zi, "How have you been at Bai Liyan’s place?"
"Okay." Su Zi’s attitude was cold. She was clearly still upset about how Qi Cheng favored Ji Yunhuan.
After packing up her things, as she was about to leave, she stopped and asked Qi Cheng, "I heard you argued with Bai Liyan? Was it because of Ji Yunhuan?"
Qi Cheng was still upset about this. Hearing Su Zi bring it up made him very unhappy.
Seeing his silence, Su Zi knew he was still mad.
Su Zi smiled coldly. "Actually, you shouldn’t blame Bai Liyan. I was going to say it too. He only did what I wanted to do. My brother died because of her. Why does she still deserve your kindness?"
"Su Zi, let’s not talk about this." This matter always soured his mood.
Seeing his desire to escape, Su Zi got angrier. "What did you tell me that day? You said you would divorce her someday, that marrying her was only temporary. I believed you. But now, you’re arguing with Brother Liyan for her. Are you in love with her? My brother considered you a good friend, yet you liked the woman he loved..."
Her accusations hit Qi Cheng’s heart hard. Finally, he erupted, "I told you to stop talking!"
His sudden raised voice stunned both Su Zi and Ji Yunhuan, who was outside the door.
No one knew how painful his feelings were at that moment.
Su Zi knew Su Molang died because of Ji Yunhuan but didn’t know what Qi Cheng went through for Ji Yunhuan.
For Qi Cheng, all of this was a past he didn’t want to face.
