Chapter 17: Theron: Don’t Disturb My Mate
Theron~
I sat on the edge of the bed, watching Evelyn as she slept peacefully beside me.
She looked so peaceful in her sleep, completely different from her usual expression that always seemed tense, like she had too many thoughts running through her head.
Then, of course, my wolf had to ruin the moment. "But her face looked even better last night," he murmured inside my head, "when she was moaning under you while your dick was—"
"Shut your fucking mouth." I cut him off immediately.
After what he almost did to Evelyn last night, I still harbored so much anger and resentment in my heart.
How dare he try to hurt her like that?
"Oh, come on, you’re overreacting," my wolf replied lazily. "I was just trying to scare her away. That’s all. But don’t tell me you’ve never been curious what kind of face she’d make if you bent her over and forced her to—"
"I’ve never thought about that," I snapped, clicking my tongue in irritation. I pulled the blanket up to cover Evelyn’s shoulders, then quietly got out of bed. "Not even once."
I stretched my arms and glanced around the room, checking to make sure everything looked decent for her.
After we had wild, heated sex last night, the room was a complete mess. The sheets were tangled, the bed was filthy, and honestly, it wasn’t the kind of place I wanted her to wake up in. She deserved to sleep in a better place than that.
Well, maybe it wasn’t that bad, but still, I didn’t want her to open her eyes feeling gross and sticky.
That’s why I decided to clean her up a little before moving her to another room where she could rest more comfortably.
"Why not just stay in that filthy room?" my wolf asked, even though the answer was obvious. But then his next words made the vein on my forehead throb. "Let her see the mess she made. Remind her that she squirted so much she soaked the whole bed."
"Can you shut up for just one minute?" I groaned and rubbed my temples. My head was starting to ache from his voice.
"Why?" He pretended to be innocent. "Does that description turn you on again? Look, your pillar is standing tall again, and there just happens to be a beautiful naked woman sleeping in your bed."
"Oh no, what are you gonna do now?" he teased. "How about you pull the blanket down, open her legs, and just fuck her again for the rest of the morning?"
I lowered my head and looked down at my manhood, which shamelessly stood up, rock hard.
"It’s just morning wood," I muttered, clicking my tongue again. "Not because of your filthy talk about her. Stop disrespecting her with your mouth."
My wolf screamed inside my head, "WHY?! I’ve been waiting for this moment for years, so why do you always try to restrain me?!" He continued, "I want to go wild with her for a week. No, a whole month!"
"If you don’t shut up," I warned, "I’ll lock your damn consciousness away for a month instead."
"You wouldn’t dare!" he snarled. "You don’t even have full control over me!"
I walked over to the wardrobe, grabbed the clean clothes the maid had left, and threw them on without much thought. "I’ve done it once before, and it worked. Do you want to experience it again?"
After I said that, my wolf went completely silent.
He had a point, actually.
Unlike most werewolves who could easily overpower their wolves, mine wasn’t like that. We were equals in strength and dominance, which made it feel like he wasn’t just my wolf, he was another version of me.
He wasn’t usually this annoying, but ever since Evelyn came to the palace, he had been constantly trying to take over my body, just so he could do something indecent and wild to her.
I’d be damned if I let him lay a finger on my mate.
I had waited for her for over thirty years. There was no way I would let anyone, not even myself, hurt her.
But her presence as a Luna was bound to stir rumors. I might be able to keep her hidden from the outside world for now, but the awakening of a Luna could usually be sensed by those with spiritual guidance.
Even after all these years, humans still feared the rise of a Luna because she had the power to unlock the full potential of an Alpha.
I actually doubted that part a little, because after I marked Evelyn, nothing happened.
I thought I’d feel some kind of foreign power entering my body, but there was nothing.
Absolutely nothing. So, I assumed the rumors had been exaggerated.
"Are you sure it’s just a rumor?" my wolf suddenly spoke again. "Or maybe ... you’re just too weak to release your full potential? I mean, come on, you can’t even be more dominant than me, so—"
"If you don’t shut your mouth, I swear I’ll lock you away in my subconscious again," I snapped.
My wolf sounded like he was about to argue, but before he could speak, my sharp hearing picked up the sound of hurried footsteps heading toward my room.
It wasn’t just one person, it sounded like more than ten.
Damn it.
Honestly, dealing with the human race was one thing, but entertaining these people about to knock on my door was even more exhausting.
I turned to look at Evelyn one more time and saw her still asleep under the thick blanket.
After what happened last night, she really needed to rest. That’s why, before the elders could knock, I opened the door first.
All of them gasped in surprise, clearly startled because I opened it just as they were about to knock.
"Elders," I greeted them calmly. "What brings you here this early in the morning? The sun just barely rose."
I looked at each of their faces one by one, noticing the different expressions they wore. Some looked worried, others looked like they’d just woken up from a nightmare, and the rest ... looked angry.
Why were they angry?
"Your Majesty, please don’t pretend you don’t know what this is about," one of the elders, Balthor Moonhowl, said as he furrowed his brow, deepening the lines on his not-so-old face. "Where is she?"
I stepped out of the room and gently closed the door behind me. "She’s sleeping," I replied.
Balthor took a step forward. "Forgive me for being disrespectful, Your Majesty, but why didn’t you tell us anything about your Luna?"
"I already told you that I found my mate," I replied casually.
"That’s not the same, Your Majesty!" Balthor raised his voice slightly. "We assumed she was just an ordinary mate, not a Luna!"
I let out a tired sigh. "You all know that every woman I’ve ever touched ended up dead. So how could I suddenly just ... mate with some random woman?"
The elders didn’t look impressed at all. In fact, they seemed like they never really believed that story to begin with.
And to be honest, I couldn’t blame them.
The only reason I believed it myself was because the Moon Goddess told me so. She warned me clearly to never touch a woman, or I’d end up taking her life.
Since the Goddess warned me like that, why would I risk someone’s life just to test if it was true?
That’s why I made the decision a long time ago. I would never lay a hand on any woman. Not out of cruelty, but out of fear that I might end up killing someone who didn’t deserve it.
"Your Majesty," another elder stepped forward, Valkar Ashforde. His voice was more serious than before. "This isn’t something we can ignore. The Luna’s existence means everything to us now. May we see her?"
My hand tightened on the doorknob behind me as I replied, "She’s sleeping."
Another elder spoke up, "Then wake her up! We have something important to discuss!"
My expression instantly turned cold as I fixed my gaze on the one who dared to suggest disturbing Evelyn.
"I said," I growled, voice dropping lower with warning, "my mate is sleeping." Then, more firmly, I added, "Don’t make me repeat myself."
