Chapter 379: 379. Skilled in poisoning and administering poison
“Get lost!”
Xu Xian kicked Zhuang Hongyu away again without any hint of mercy, causing him to spit blood.
Fang Zhou stood by, watching without any intention of intervening.
This scene could be Zhuang Hongyu experiencing a pang of conscience, or it might be a performance by both of them.
Regardless of the motive, Fang Zhou had no reason to act since Zhuang Hongyu had just poisoned him, temporarily categorizing him as untrustworthy.
After kicking Zhuang Hongyu away, Xu Xian turned to look at Fang Zhou, seemingly calming down from her anger.
She slowly picked up the clothes from the ground and elegantly put them back on, each movement bewitching.
After dressing, Xu Xian smiled slightly at Fang Zhou, “Mr. Fang, there’s no conflict of interest between us; there’s no need for a fight.”
Heh, wasn’t you trying to ride me just now if you didn’t want a fight?
Fang Zhou picked up and wore the mask Xu Xian had tossed aside, smiling, “Mrs. Xu, your words and actions are rife with contradictions. You said there’s no conflict of interest with me, but you poisoned me and tried to keep me from leaving. Is it possible that your mouth and brain contradict each other, perhaps due to schizophrenia?”
Xu Xian didn’t know what schizophrenia was but could tell Fang Zhou was mocking her intellect.
She was slightly annoyed but held her composure to explain further.
“I had no choice; danger is everywhere in the Cultivation World. Recently, there’s been the Zhu Feng incident, and Mr. Fang, you’re also a mysterious, strong presence. We had to be cautious.”
“So you’re saying everything you did was for your husband, including wanting to engage with me romantically?”
“Indeed, this organization is our life’s work. It cannot be destroyed, so I’d do anything to protect it.”
“Clap, clap, clap!”
Fang Zhou clapped his hands, praising, “Mrs. Xu, for your husband’s sake, you are willing to sacrifice yourself; truly admirable and lamentable. If your husband knew, he’d be comforted.”
No fooling Xu Xian that Fang Zhou was being sarcastic. Her gaze turned cold as she waved a hand, releasing a white mist from her sleeve towards Fang Zhou.
[New Task Triggered – Defeat the Poison Lady]
[Difficulty: Easy]
[Reward: Masculinity*2, White Card*1]
[Failure: Become a BRQ]
The system task notification appeared simultaneously.
This was Fang Zhou’s first encounter with two simultaneous tasks.
The main quest wasn’t even completed yet, and another new task popped up.
The white mist flew closer; dealing with someone adept in poison, Fang Zhou dared not be careless, remembering the Poison Fire Ghost Crow’s poison’s past troubles.
He immediately used Innate True Qi to cover eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, even enveloping his skin.
Then he vehemently waved his sleeve, creating a strong wind that blew the white mist back.
Unfazed, Xu Xian stood, allowing the white mist to envelop her before dispersing and seemingly melting into the air.
As the mist dissipated, the room’s temperature immediately rose, bringing a sense of heat. Zhuang Hongyu, prone on the floor, felt a rapid heartbeat and intense heat, followed by breathing difficulties, nearly suffocating, his face turning red.
Fang Zhou, wrapped entirely in Innate True Qi, felt nothing but speculated that Xu Xian had poisoned the air, seeing Zhuang Hongyu’s state.
If not for his Innate status, dealing with such insidious poisoning methods would have been nearly impossible.
Xu Xian, witnessing Fang Zhou unaffected by her poison, couldn’t help displaying surprise.
She couldn’t resist asking, “Mr. Fang, might you also be skilled in poison?”
Connecting the dots to Fang Zhou unharmed after drinking Zhuang Hongyu’s poisoned concoction, Xu Xian had every reason to suspect Fang Zhou possessed comparable proficiency in poison.
Mastery of poison implies mastery of poison defense.
“Didn’t expect you to find out. Yes, I’m adept at poisoning and feeding poison, earning the nickname ‘Venomous Young Master.’ Pleased to meet you!”
As he spoke, Fang Zhou brandished a gourd towards Xu Xian, simultaneously unleashing an Illusion Technique.
This woman wasn’t confessing; it was better to apprehend her first.
He had long wanted to try the tactics learned from Ya Zi’s slave.
Xu Xian was mid-thought about what “Venomous Young Master” meant when she was suddenly caught by the illusion, pulled in fiercely by the gourd.
Just then, a white shimmering figure sprung from Xu Xian’s body, similar to the Golden Cicada shedding its shell, leaving behind a thin skin.
Fang Zhou did not anticipate such a move from Xu Xian; with the gourd plus Illusion Technique combo rendered ineffective, only Xu Xian’s human skin was absorbed.
Shedding her skin, Xu Xian was still entirely naked yet appeared significantly younger, with a vibrant venomous snake coiled around.
Xu Xian, reluctant to continue the fight, jumped towards the locked door, simultaneously tossing the snake like an arrow towards Fang Zhou.
Fang Zhou raised a hand, releasing Invisible Sword Energy, slicing the snake in half mid-air, which exploded instantly, releasing a purple poisonous mist blanketing the room.
This mist, like the previous mist Xu Xian expelled orally, had intense corrosive properties.
Fang Zhou had to utilize the gourd to absorb the poisonous mist.
“Bang!”
Xu Xian already broke through the door, landing outside the room.
Swish!
Fang Zhou’s golden substitute dashed through the mist, flying towards Xu Xian and delivering a heavy punch.
However, Xu Xian had already learned from Zhuang Hongyu about Fang Zhou’s bizarre ability, seemingly capable of commanding spirits to fight for him.
After escaping the room, Xu Xian pulled out a smooth round ball from somewhere on her person, smashing it onto the ground.
With a pop, the ball burst open, filling the corridor with yellow poisonous gas, enveloping Xu Xian and half the corridor.
The golden substitute had arrived, punching down hard.
With a boom, the entire room shook.
The corridor’s floor was pounded through by the golden substitute’s punch, with the ground beneath blasted apart, hurling bits of stone, black soil, and shattered planks everywhere.
Xu Xian dodged in time, avoiding a direct hit but was still sent flying by the impact, spinning like a ball for over ten meters before slamming against the hallway’s end wall. Her nose was hit askew, and her body almost wrecked.
Ignoring the pain, Xu Xian bolted for the exit, escaping swiftly.
The yellow gas, similarly corrosive, was absorbed into the gourd by Fang Zhou, who exited the room, followed closely by the golden substitute, still clutching the poisoned and unconscious Zhuang Hongyu.
Fang Zhou absorbed Zhuang Hongyu into the gourd too before trailing Xu Xian leisurely. Though rapid, Xu Xian’s pace couldn’t outmatch Fang Zhou’s senses.
