Chapter 500: Chapter 409: The Touch of the Future_2
This treatment, while costly, had the backing of Siflin’s profound background. Moreover, given that Selena’s case was indeed rare, the research institute did not skimp on the funds, allowing Siflin to use them freely. However, the treatment also came with risks—not for Selena herself, but for anyone else who entered the room.
Because Selena’s fantasies could transform into reality, when whimsical thoughts emerged in her mind, the hospital room would morph into an unpredictable trickery. The sign outside the room was actually the result of multiple accidents.
Despite Selena’s condition being quite stable now, aside from Freyja and a few others, not many visited her in the hospital room.
"I got scolded by Teacher Siflin..."
"How did she scold you?" Selena was surprised, as she felt that Siflin quite liked Freyja.
"She scolded me for my erratic lifestyle," Meiwa shrugged, "I don’t know how she knew I entered the Void Realm after midnight, scolding me for not cherishing the favor of the Blood Moon, saying the best time to log in the Void Realm was 10 p.m.... Wait, could the teacher be spying on me?!"
Selena guessed, "Maybe she saw you log into the Veil after 11 p.m.?"
"It’s possible..." Meiwa tilted her head.
Selena curiously asked, "Don’t you usually log into the Void Realm at 10 p.m.? Why so late last night?"
"Last night..." Meiwa’s face turned red, a silly smile appearing on her face: "Hehe..."
Since the day she picked up the diary edition, Meiwa had claimed it outright. After following the updates for several days, she was certain it was Ash’s diary, and that the mischievous man, unknown to her whereabouts, was still updating it.
Through the diary edition, Freyja could observe Ash’s entire prison escape from the first-person perspective, knowing he was bullied by a man named Igula just after entering prison, and that from the beginning, he knew a woman named Death Mad Sword Maiden...
Death Mad Sword Maiden!
Tsk, tsk, tsk!
Such an annoying name!
Although Freyja was quite displeased, she could only watch helplessly as Ash explored the Void Realm on a ship with the Sword Maiden. Last night, Ash updated that he had undergone his first Blood Moon Judgement in front of the Sword Maiden, showing his weaker side; Meiwa just wished she could replace the Sword Maiden, comforting Ash well, and then, and then...
Selena, seeing the pink bubbles forming over Freyja’s head, thought to herself how strong Meiwa’s mental power was. Although the room was mainly manipulated by her thoughts, other people could also vaguely affect the illusion energy here, the stronger the mind, the greater the influence.
If Gerard walked into this room, even if Selena exerted all her strength, she wouldn’t be able to harm a single hair on him.
And there you were, Freyja, recalling last night’s casting materials in front of a naive young girl; the free spirits of fantasy must definitely see great potential in you.
After chatting for a while, Freyja had to go home. Before leaving, Selena asked, "Are others still bullying you?"
"How could they?" Meiwa shook her head repeatedly. "My teacher is Siflin..."
"But they ostracize you secretly, right?"
Freyja admitted.
As a Meiwa who hadn’t yet graduated, even though she was already a Mage, she could not possibly get appointed directly to Kaimon’s attached hospital; she should at least spend a few years in standardized training at other town hospitals. It was entirely because Siflin had pulled strings and taken her as a student that Freyja naturally faced criticism from other Medical Practitioners. Even without overt discrimination, the atmosphere of exclusion was not likely to disappear.
But Meiwa didn’t mind it at all.
Selena thought for a moment, then beckoned Freyja to stretch out her finger, whereupon she bit down directly, drawing blood!
Meiwa, in pain, tried to pull back, but Selena held on, licking the wound with her tongue.
"That should do," said Selena seriously, "you now have my scent on you, others won’t bully you anymore."
Freyja, very displeased, flicked Selena on the forehead but didn’t blame her, assuming it was just a little girl’s blessing, "Then thank you."
Leaving the hospital room, Meiwa thought to herself that tonight she had to log into the Void Realm on time, leaving the diary edition for the morning.
But being on time to the Upper Void Realm is good, as it meant seeing the little bat again.
Since the encounter with the little bat after leaving the Vortex, Meiwa would meet it every night in the Void Realm, the only exception being last night when she was two hours late.
Freyja suspected she had triggered some mechanism in the Void Realm, for the little bat not only followed her every night but also helped in battle by casting Miracle.
Even if the little bat couldn’t help, Freyja still adored it—in the vast, foggy Sea of Knowledge, having a pet accompany her on missions was fantastic.
Thinking of this, Meiwa felt increasingly irritated with the Sword Maiden—why her! Why not me! I want to keep Ash as a pet!
Meanwhile, after Freyja had left the infirmary, Selena’s smile faded, and her hands slowly vanished as she lay on the bed like a doll.
Accepting treatment was naturally a temporary solution, she could never allow herself to actually have limbs. "Loss" was the manifestation of Eternal Damnation. Once she was tainted by "possession," she would completely lose the attention of The Gods of Four Pillars.
As for why she had blessed Freyja earlier, the reason was simple: Freyja had already been designated as the chief executive of the Four Pillars God Sect.
Indeed, although Selena had not yet converted Meiwa, it wasn’t her fault.
It was the fault of The Gods of Four Pillars.
Since arriving in the Kingdom of Blood Moon, Selena had found everything going awry, even becoming a rare case under hospital intensive observation—as if Fate itself was blocking her efforts to spread faith and harvest souls. After some thought, she felt the root cause was that The Gods of Four Pillars were not supporting her enough.
Being opposed by Fate was as natural as the human immune system automatically destroying germs. But previously, The Gods of Four Pillars had helped obscure her fate trail, allowing her to smoothly expand operations.
Selena was certain that The Gods of Four Pillars were currently watching the live broadcast of Ash and Heath, which is why they forgot to support her work in the Kingdom of Blood Moon.
But these days would soon be a thing of the past.
Calculating the time, Eternal Damnation had entangled Ash for a month, which meant—
Ash’s Death Judgment was a future inevitability.
Being unbound by fate, how could he possibly resist me, who am bound?
As long as she witnessed Ash’s death, The Gods of Four Pillars would naturally turn their attention to the adorable Selena, and then little Meiwa would obediently become her chief executive.
...
...
"Deceit List No. 1: The Kingdom’s Resurrection Ritual for Ash"
Liss instinctively clutched at the edge of Ash’s garment while Hanna and Qinna immediately turned to look at him.
Ash himself seemed unaffected.
Following the pattern of the previous nine deceitful plots, the person named in the deceit list was certainly already dead. But Ash had brushed past Death multiple times. If there really was a Death God specially handling his case, that Death God would surely have shoulder inflammation by now.
Not to mention, he was a foreigner. Your Gospel-woven death, can it even touch the dog’s life of a Blood Moonian?
Compared to that, he was more curious about who wanted to resurrect him.
However, unlike the previous nine plots, the Kingdom’s Resurrection Ritual did not list the mastermind behind it, but went straight to video data—
"Great Abyssal Rusted Crow, the good follow you, the wicked admire you! The light yearns for you, the darkness seeks you! You are the transcendence of all, the color with which the gods have painted all things!"
Ash finally couldn’t hold back his laughter.
