Chapter 313 - Chapter 313 Chapter 269 The Observer Was Killed by Me
Chapter 313: Chapter 269: The Observer Was Killed by Me Chapter 313: Chapter 269: The Observer Was Killed by Me Sonia noticed Ingrid had come back and called out, “Hurry to the school forum and find the post ‘Setting aside ability, isn’t Miss Sevi a stain on our school?’ Help me squash this post’s author.”
“Adelle, you come and help too. There are several rotten people inside who keep spouting nonsensical tirades, which is so infuriating. Come and join me in spraying them!”
Ingrid pointed at Sonia, her face full of confusion as she looked towards Adelle.
Adelle shrugged, “She’s been like this all afternoon, intensely searching for herself. She echoes any post that praises her and retorts against any that insult her… It’s like she just can’t stop.”
Previously, if Sonia was only known as the genius of the Sword Technique Faction, people from other factions didn’t pay much attention to her. But after the news spread that she had summoned a Two-winged Technique Spirit and slain an alchemical giant bear with a single sword stroke at last night’s social mixer, the Sword Maiden’s fame had completely exploded across Jiale City, with ‘Sonia Sevi’ plastering the school forum all day.
Yet, Sonia wasn’t Gold Coins; while some people praised her, naturally others disliked her. Thus, the forum quickly split into two factions: one side believed Sonia would become the new Miracle of the Sword Flower, potentially a legend of the Holy Domain, while the other side considered Sonia just a lucky Village Girl who would soon fade into obscurity, bringing shame to the Sword Flower for having such a person as its lead representative.
Ingrid opened the post, and her expression changed slightly.
There were mainly three arguments in the post: Sonia was not just non-noble, she wasn’t even an ordinary citizen but a poor, fringe villager, “a mud-legged commoner very likely aiming to use her Mage identity to sell herself at a high price;” Sonia’s father had died when she was young, her mother was a farmer, where would she get the resources to study and learn, “perhaps she had been using her beauty since she was a child;” Sonia’s becoming a Two-winged Mage in one month was beyond normal speed, even legendary Mages weren’t this outrageous, so she must have received help from others. But why did she get such help, “she probably found herself a new father.”
Good lord, all three points were full of rumors and character assassination, not half reasonable. Ingrid got angry looking at them, “Can’t we just find the author of the post and beat them up?”
“It’s a new account, can’t dig it up,” said Adelle. “Today, the forum saw many zero-post new accounts, all specifically to smear Sonia. Humph, these people also know they don’t have a leg to stand on in an argument, not daring to confront us with their main accounts.”
Ingrid didn’t understand, “Can’t these accounts that insult randomly be banned?”
“Alas,” Adelle sighed. “Take a closer look, not a single dirty word in the post author’s words, all are wording that hovers on the edge of insult, only using a suggestive tone to make people think negatively. Even if you report it, the school can’t confirm they’re swearing.”
“And here I thought Sword Flower University students wouldn’t have such poor quality…” Ingrid continued to browse other people’s comments, getting more and more agitated, “Our people in the town wouldn’t speak so unpleasantly!”
“Ha, don’t mention Sword Flower University, even Truth University’s forum has many such vile posts. Universities can only select intelligence, perseverance, and family background, but not character,” Adelle shook her head. “That’s how we nobles are, smiling and laughing face to face, but spewing filth behind the Veil.”
Ingrid looked worriedly at Sonia, “Sonia, are you okay?”
“Ah? I’m fine, you see, there’s another person we sprayed who doesn’t dare to reply anymore.”
The Village Girl turned around, lying on her back on the bed, “So timid, must be a lowlife from the Wind Skill Department, hesitant even when hiding behind the Veil.”
Ingrid blinked, Sonia’s reaction was completely different from what she had imagined.
At that moment, Lois finally recovered from her hangover, waving her hand, “Don’t worry about her, she’s the type who gets more excited the more she’s insulted.”
“How can you make me sound like a pervert!” Sonia turned over again, continuing to lie on the bed.
“Where are you not a pervert? Can a normal person raise their Magic Faction skills to Golden Level in a month from scratch!?”
“Humph, such jealousy sounds really sweet to the ears.”
“See, didn’t I tell you, you are a pervert, pervert, pervert!”
“Lois, your way of coquetry is really peculiar.”
“Sonia, you’re a big pervert!”
Faced with slanderous rumors about oneself, there are probably three reactions: the first is a glass heart, getting so uncomfortable after seeing such comments that one can’t sleep all night, as if suffering a painful Spiritual Shock and must retreat; the second is with equanimity, still getting angry but not upset, not dwelling on these trivial matters, as if nothing had happened; and the third type is Sonia, with a heart of steel.
You curse me? I’ll curse back double, and not only will I retort, but I’ll call others to join me in hitting back!
Rage is my fuel, words are my ammunition, and if I don’t make you surrender with my cursing, then I’ve lost!
Ordinary folks might tear up because of such slander and derogation, but Sonia is different. The village where she grew up isn’t some naive place; ever since she was little, she honed her verbal skills through cursing others. All this sneaky smearing by the aristocratic offspring on the school forum barely made Sonia flinch, it even made her want to laugh.
This is it?
The mice in the city aren’t even as squeaky as the country mice.
Ingrid took a serious look at the replies in the post and asked, “Is ‘Sword Maiden, did you eat today?’ Sonia?”
“No, that’s me,” Adelle said. “Sonia’s alternate account is the one below that layer.”
Ingrid looked somewhat bemused, “‘President of the Claw Club’? What’s that about?”
Sonia glanced at her, lying on the bed, poking her bum up, reaching her hands forward as far as she could to stretch her back, arching like a cat, delightfully squinting her eyes, “This is the Claw Club.”
Adelle quickly snapped a photo, “Don’t worry, I won’t share it, just keeping it for myself.”
“Of course, you can’t share it,” Sonia said, “Even if you’re going to post a casual photo, it should be after I’ve put on my war dress and done my makeup. And the dorm lighting isn’t good enough, we need to get a ring light…”
Seeing Sonia’s attitude, Ingrid couldn’t help but sigh, “I used to think geniuses must be aloof and distant, like Professor Trozan is the very image of a genius in my mind…”
Ingrid never imagined that a true genius wasn’t just unapproachable but would also intensely search for their own discussion threads, create alt accounts to trash-talk in forums, and even be mindful of lighting when taking photos…
“Your impression isn’t wrong,” Lois said, “What’s wrong is the Star Cluster, for having blindly favored Sonia. No wonder there are so many stories about ‘poor boys getting noticed by princesses’ out in the world, turns out they stem from some reality.”
“You’re talking behind my back again,” Sonia sat up, “But today I’m happy, so not only will I overlook your jealousy, but I’m also planning to treat you to a meal!”
“Really!” Adelle jumped up, delighted, “What are we eating?”
“School cafeteria!”
“You won the top spot in the competition and you’re treating us to the school cafeteria?”
“Well, that’s true,” Sonia said, resting her chin on her hand and thinking aloud, “After all, I won the top spot, so it should be you guys treating me. Why should I be the one paying?”
“That’s odd,” Adelle said, “Sonia, you never liked taking advantage of others, but you’ve been shameless lately; I wonder who you’ve learned it from… I must clarify, it’s not me!”
“You all know me,” Ingrid said indifferently, “It’s not me either.”
“I’m usually on the losing side when it comes to Sonia taking advantage,” Lois was curious too, “Besides us, the only other people Sonia often comes in contact with are Felix and Professor Trozan, but they don’t seem like the type… Could it be that you’ve secretly started dating someone behind our backs?”
“Let’s go eat already,” Sonia got up to change her clothes, saying irritably, “Rarely do I offer you the chance to treat me, and I advise you not to be ungrateful.”
“Changing the subject!”
“Putting on airs!”
“Woman, you’ve caught my attention; hand over your man, and I’ll spare you!”
The roommates went off to eat amidst noise and laughter.
…
At 11 p.m., Sonia arrived at the Meditation Building as usual, ready to enter the Void Realm.
There was much to talk about tonight: she had learned a new Miracle in her dream, her Sword Technique Faction had ascended to the Golden Level, and she had successfully summoned a new Two-winged Technique Spirit;
She had won the top spot in the competition and would participate in the intercollegiate league as a Sword Flower seed player;
It seemed that Demilo was connected to Vosloda, and there was a high probability that Star Hall was under the command of the Dazzling Star Magic Master…
Thinking this, Sonia couldn’t wait to step into the Time Continent and proudly show off her achievements to the Observer.
She summoned her newly acquired Two-winged Technique Spirit ‘Sword Shadow,’ captured the Gate of Truth within the Technique Spirit’s body, and descended to the second layer of the Void Realm in the Time Continent.
As her consciousness sank into the Void Realm, the Village Girl slowly opened her eyes. Finding herself in the front seat of a sports car, she turned around to say to the back, “Observer, Witch, you’ll never guess what happened to me last night…”
Mid-sentence, Sonia stumbled.
She looked at the Witch, and the Witch looked back at her, both scanning around but seeing no sign of anyone else.
“Where’s Observer?” Sonia asked, dumbfounded.
“That’s not my problem,” Diya quickly denied any responsibility.
They soon discovered a note stuck to the windshield:
“I’m tied up tonight and can’t make it, just go for a spin in the car, just don’t wreck it.”
“By the way, Sword Maiden, our exploration went well last night, and we didn’t speak ill of you, if you don’t believe me, ask the Witch.”
Sonia turned to Diya, “What bad things did you say about me last night?”
Diya looked utterly confused, hesitant, her expression twisted as if she were in abdominal pain.
After consulting with her sisters for a moment, she decided to follow the Black Butler’s advice, “Actually, the Observer lied.”
“Where did he lie?”
“Our exploration last night didn’t go smoothly at all, the Observer just arrived in the Void Realm and was immediately hit by my driving and killed, so we didn’t have a chance to speak ill of you.”
