Mage And Wolf
Chapter 298

Chapter 298: Chapter 298

We’re all getting ready to leave for the Divine Plane when I hear a fight break out in the Lycans camp and the smell of human blood fills the air. Beta John rushes out behind me, just as curious as I am to find out what in the world is going on, and the crowd opens up to let us through.

There are a dozen Divine Realm human cultivators here, in the uniform of the Divine Transfer Cult. They’ve clearly had a run in with the guards, and an open portal is visible behind them. Don’t tell me that idiot oracle thought that it was a good opportunity to attack again because I wasn’t with Karl.

Their leader is shouting at the Lycans with a level of confidence only possible for a man who doesn’t know he’s an idiot. "We have no quarrel with you Lycan. We have come for the War Criminal Katrina. On the authority of the Divine Council of the Perseus Alliance, turn her over and nobody needs to get hurt."

"Did you commit war crimes?" John asks, more amused than upset.

"I mean, probably? It depends how you look at it. Recently we annihilated a couple of their command centers, a cultivation Sect and flooded a world with angry Beast Clan warriors. I’m not sure which one they’re taking offense to."

"We have word from a city called Arcana in the Mortal Realm that the Four Horsemen have been conducting prohibited experiments on living cultivators." Oh, that’s why they’re mad? Even the subjects weren’t mad about that. After all, it helped them become proficient mages in a day.

"Do you have anything other than rumors and hearsay?" I ask, stepping into their line of sight.

"The evidence is overwhelming. Humans were modified into Elemental Hybrids within the city. We have recordings of city workers discussing the experiments that name you personally as the criminal."

"So, you have recorded gossip? That’s hardly impressive. I could just as easily start a rumor about the Divine Transfer being a nihilist Cult committing genocide against Mortal Realm planets and accuse you of crimes against humanity. Unlike your case, I’ve even got proof of destroyed planets where you were operating." That one definitely touched a nerve. He’s so mad he’s starting to froth at the mouth.

"How can the other Divine Councils stand for this? That monster and her partners in crime are going to ascend into a new pantheon of evil gods if they’re not stopped. They’ll unbalance the Divine Planes and destroy everything we have worked for." The Lycans are looking at him like he’s a raving nut job now, and even I’m not entirely sure they’re wrong. The Divine Transfer are so into their own messaging that they’re beginning to sound insane.

The scent of Demon magic fills the air as a new voice appears from behind me. "No fewer than four Divine councils are watching the Horsemen as you called them. They have not yet been deemed a threat to the higher planes. The Divine Transfer, on the other hand has been causing chaos in the Immortal Planes with incomplete and unbalanced planetary transfers."

That voice would be the Demon Prince Ivan. I’m not sure what he’s doing here, he’s not a council member and he should still be insanely busy with work at home, even after considering the time flow difference. It’s good to see him though, he’s sane and reliable, qualities that are in short supply when dealing with the Divine Transfer.

"See! They’ve allied with the demons. Surely not even filthy animals like the Lycans can let that stand." The human spokesman shrieks. Now he’s gone from not making friends to actively making enemies.

He’s about to go on a rant, which the Lycans and Demons are eagerly anticipating, when a pair of incredibly powerful humans show up to stop him. From the aura they’re giving off they’re not just Divine Realm cultivators, but actual Gods, no longer bound by the natural laws of this world.

They don’t say anything, only give the escrow situation a disgusted look and banish the Divine Transfer members from this world before vanishing themselves. That was interesting, it generally takes a lot to get higher beings at that level to interfere in mundane affairs. I’ve heard about it during my time at the Shadowed Blade Sect, but I’ve never seen a being that powerful and never honestly expected to.

Price Ivan pokes my shoulder so that I’ll turn to look at him. "You look like you’re having a very profound thought. Care to share?"

"I was just wondering what exactly were we going to do to them that it caused the Human Gods to take action and intervene directly?" I ask and the Demon Prince bursts into laughter, while his vampire bunny assistant covers her mouth to avoid joining him.

Steve, who was carefully sneaking up on the pair, pats the bunny’s head and ruffles her hair. "You can laugh, it was funny and we won’t tell anyone."

She hops away from my curious Lycan friend, landing right in front of me and cursing at him. "Ahhh, damn you Lycan, you scared the life out of me and I’m already dead."

"Are the Bunnies still fluffy as vampires?" Beta John asks and Steve nods happily.

"They smell funny, but they’re just as fluffy and now they’re pleasantly cool, like a fresh pillows." Steve confirms.

"What’s this? Are the Lycans reconsidering their bias against vampires in favor of fluffy bunny ears?" Prince Ivan jokes, making the Lycans howl in protest and the vampire bunny hide under my coat.

"I don’t know if we’d go that far, but exceptions might be made." John shrugs smirking at the bunny using me as a shield.

"You know she’s a Lycan too, right?"

The bunny sniffs me carefully before shaking her head in disagreement. "Only part. She smells more like Death Energy, which draws all us vampires like the smell of fresh roasted meat draws you carnivores."

I let a little energy leak as I pet her head and the bunny sighs and snuggles close to me before Ivan realizes what I’m doing.

"Hey, cut that out. If you steal my assistant you owe me a new one."
