Mage And Wolf
Chapter 285

Chapter 285: Chapter 285

"And what work did you expect me to be doing?" I growl at them, ready to see how I fare in combat without cultivation energy or access to my storage.

"You’ll see when you get there. Those clothes should be fine for now. They’ll change you if they want you indoors." This guy is an ass. But he’s attached a leash to my collar and is leading me outside. For some reason, this city looks familiar, but I’m too focused on trying to make my body function to think about that right now.

"Welcome to the Divine City of Deimos, slave." My escort laughs, and I realize where I’ve seen this place before. In that snippet of a vision I was shown in the Divine Plane, at the Nephilim palace. This is the city that the Titan clan was trying to stop me from razing to the ground. A city with millions of enslaved people from many races, of which I’m now one.

"It’s good to be here. The Divine Council of the Titan Clan told me one day I would visit, though I didn’t expect it to be quite like this." My words don’t seem to shake him, and the six-meter-tall humanoid keeps walking, forcing me to jog or be dragged.

[We’re in Deimos, a Titan city full of slaves. If you can, prepare a defense against an enslavement collar that locks away your cultivation.] I send to Karl, hoping he can still hear me now that the collar is attached.

The Titan has dragged me to a large public building, with Titans moving in and out in a steady stream. The man leading me walks through the back door and up a flight of stars before politely knocking on a large wooden door.

"Sir, I brought you the new puppy you ordered. It’s a half-breed but cute, and the ears are fluffy, just like you prefer." I am so going to stab this guy.

"Come in then. Just attach the leash to the coat rack." The voice on the other side sounds nothing but annoyed; we must have interrupted him.

I’m led by the leash inside, stepping clear of the door before it swings closed. I clasp my hands behind my back and put on my very best smiling face, planning all the things I will do to that man once I get a chance.

"Watch out; she’s going to attack you." The man behind the desk says in a bored monotone.

"Nah, this one’s pretty compliant, even for the mind broken pets. Look, she’s even smiling." He leans forward to pat my head, and I lunge at him, extending my claws and ripping at both of his eyeballs. The screams that from his throat chill even my blood, just pure anguish, and betrayal.

The bureaucrat laughs for half a second before throwing a pill in his open mouth, causing his body to heal in seconds. He backs away, looking at me in horror, and I smile back at him with my best innocent look before grabbing and rattling my leash.

"No hard feelings, right? You should have known you can’t collar a Lycan and then stand in the range of their claws."

"It’s evil. Tiny and evil. Would you like me to get another one? I’m not sure this one is safe to be around, even if you’re keeping it in the yard."

"No, this is the correct one. You can go now." Even now, the Titan bureaucrat’s bored tone hasn’t changed. The one who led me in here gives him a concerned look before leaving without a word, trusting that his superior knows what he’s up to.

"Your documents were delivered to me just minutes ago, Young Miss. According to these, The Oracle said you’d come here and destroy the city. Instead, you’ve been captured and came here as a slave, and you’ll stay that way. Now, I’ll treat you well. I’m not a violent person, but we can’t have you killing millions of my people, can we?"

"You know who I am, and you still brought me here?" I ask, somewhat confused. My plan was never to come here to avoid fulfilling the prophecy. I think it would have worked much better.

"You would have come here one way or another. This way, I make the rules. And my rules are that you’re my puppy. The collar will punish you if you don’t obey or try to run. You can’t use any cultivation energy, not even a sliver to open your storage devices, so we didn’t bother to pull them off your fingers during your training. I’m in control here, no matter what you think." Training? I don’t recall there being any of that.

To prove his point, he does something that causes the collar to give me a shock. Like a taser, lightning shots through my body, and I can feel Karl’s concern, but I can’t hear him if he’s trying to get through. I do my best to send him reassurance that I’m fine and climb back to my feet.

"As you say. You’re in charge. What do you expect me to do?"

"Sit there and be quiet. I’ll bring you home at the end of the day, and you will be given space to run around and a place to sleep. As long as you don’t cause trouble, you can do what you like there. If you’re good, I might even have you bred. I’ve heard the Lycans are fond of children."

He’s not wrong; I like kids, but ’have me bred’? It’s like they’re deliberately pushing my buttons today.

"Unfortunately, I’ve already got a mate. I’m sure you’ve heard we pair-bond for life." I say apologetically, and he nods.

"Noted. Now be quiet; I need to work."

I spend the next few hours memorizing everything about my surroundings. Him, his Golden eyes, significantly taller than average height, his horrible mustard yellow tie. The coat rack my leash is attached to, the fact that I can still operate the latch and remove it if I like. The idiot who left me here forgot to lock it to my collar.

The collar is a single piece of metal, black and melded into a smooth loop when the inscription is activated with no visible seam.

This office is so boring. I’m almost happy when he announces we’re going home.
