Mage And Wolf
Chapter 282

Chapter 282: Chapter 282

While Katrina was going berserk up above, Karl had quietly infiltrated the barracks using a sleeping spell and wiped out all the off duty guards, including two of the Immortals, who were focused on their cultivation and failed to notice his approach until it was too late.

Things just couldn’t stay that smooth for long though, and the alarms must have been raised because moments after he eliminated the second Immortal, and the last he could sense in the area, a number of transfer spells attempted to activate. Karl worked quickly to bend their arrival location down into the ground, killing the arriving reinforcements on arrival.

He’s about to warn Kat when he feels a much larger portal open, one that will stay open and let many cultivators through in a few seconds. The air twists with the surge of energy from the large portal opening just as the unmistakable bark of a heavy machine gun starts in the courtyard.

"There’s only ten or so guards, what the hell is she doing?" Karl growls quietly, running towards the courtyard.

[Are you alright?] He sends through the mate bond when the gunfire doesn’t stop after a few seconds.

[Let the bodies hit the floooor] Kat’s voice sings back in his mind as he races to where he senses her presence.

The scene is utter chaos. All the prisoners are fighting in the yard, the guards are dead and a 50 caliber rifle with the trigger taped down is pouring hot lead into a portal two werewolf cultivators are forcefully holding open. His Little Lycan has her claws out, fighting in mid air against four newly arrived Divine Transfer Cultists in the Immortal Realm.

Suddenly her Underworld Domain flares to full power, driving the cultivators backwards and she takes the opportunity to place a fresh gun, trigger taped down and barrel pointing towards the portal before launching herself back into the fight with a haunting giggle.

"Completely and utterly mad." Elder Song says, appearing next to Karl with Lelou in tow.

"What’s on the other side of the portal?" The Dragon shouts at Kat, who just shrugs.

"Not sure, but it swore at me by name when I started shooting it."

So, a Divine Transfer Sect or office then.

Karl starts firing spells into the Cultists fighting the prisoners while Lelou breathes fire through the portal, bringing a fresh round of screaming, then a number of fools trying to rush out through the hail of bullets. It takes too much of of them though, and a single strike from Lelou is enough to finish them off.

The gun falls silent again, and everyone slowly realizes the fight is over. The Wolves let the portal close and stare at the piles of bodies in shock. Over fifty are dead just in the courtyard, plus the ones Karl eliminated on his way in.

"Well that was fun. Hello everyone, my name is Katrina, High Priestess of the Black Dragon. I’ve come here today to offer you a once in a lifetime real estate investment opportunity. Act quickly to get in at the ground level of this unique development opportunity." Kat says happily and Elder Song bursts into laughter while Karl snickers.

"What she means is that we rescued other demihumans from this world and we would like to offer you refuge with a werewolf pack on our homeworld. There’s food, shelter, freedom and a strong and noble Alpha who cares about his people. Our world treats every species fairly and we would love to have you." Lelou steps in to stop the jokes and calm the refugees.

Kat puts on her serious face, which given her appearance looks more adorable than intimidating and steps forward again, apeaking with seriousness and authority. "Well said. It’s a Mortal Realm world, limited to Core Formation cultivation for now, but it’s slowly expanding in power. We really could use more reliable people to build up the pack and surrounding areas. What do you say?"

The prisoners usher one elderly werewolf forward as their representative, as all the actual warriors and high ranking members died instead of being captured. "I will be honest with you, even the foreign vacation property scam routine sounded better than being here. If your local pack is willing to look after the young and the weak, that’s as good as we would dare ask for."

The young and the weak basically covers everyone here. They do have some accomplished cultivators, but they’re nearing the end of their lives. Solid in cultivation, but weak in health. They’ve proven that in numbers they can hold their own though, and they’re not cowards. Alpha Conway could use that sort of Elder in his pack to help teach the youngsters.

"Then let’s get these guards looted. Hopefully they’ll have something good to give the Alpha as a welcoming gift." They laugh at that, but soon have an assortment of storage rings and assorted goods for Kat. The guards had a good number of Monster Cores on them, hopefully enough to cover everything this group will need in their arrival without straining the resources of the pack.

"Let’s get going then. We need to put some distance between us and the camp before we open a gate, so that the Divine Transfer doesn’t follow us straight to them. If anyone isn’t in a condition to travel I have healing pills available." They might be very young and very old, but they’re still werewolves. They heal pretty quickly on their own and only a few of the elders require assistance to move at a reasonable pace, which the others gladly provide.

The group manages a steady pace for about an hour before Elder Song decides they’ve gone far enough, stopping to let him open dozens of portals for the sake of confusing the trail. Lelou and Kat ump back and forth their them, in case they’re tracking one of them and not conventionally searching, coming out into the woods near the pack compound once everyone else has arrived.

The pack scouts find the group almost immediately, the refugees aren’t at all stealthy and by the time Kat and Lelou get there an orderly procession has begun towards town and the mages have started on another building. At this rate the formerly very small and isolated pack will be a decent sized town or cultivation Sect in its own right.
