Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 241
Chapter 241: Chapter 241
The big Demon staggered forward with swinging Haymaker of a punch, as one would expect of a drunk, that I didn’t even need to dodge, then followed it up with what he tried to play off as a stagger, intended to pull me into his grasp. I grabbed his hand and pulled it low, bringing us face to face, pushing his shoulder with my other hand to turn him around before grabbing him by the horn.
"Like this, even a small cultivator can easily lead you around, and escort larger people from the premises." I say to the young students, who try to hide their amusement.
The big Demon snorts and tosses his head back while he stands, lifting me into the air, still holding his horn.
I kick the back of his knee as I fly over his head and on to his back, then stand and flop him over my shoulder so we’re cheek to cheek with him facing the roof and start walking again towards the door.
"The back of the knee is a weak point for most species. Pressure on the ligaments will make it buckle. Turned backwards like this it is hard for them to walk, so you’ll be basically dragging them, but they won’t have the balance or flexibility to do much to resist."
The big man is so heavily muscled that he can’t even properly grab me above his head, I just get wedged between his shoulder and face when he tries to lift his arm, being dragged along until I reach the door and the lesson is complete.
"But what if they’re not so drunk and they want to fight? Do you just beat them up, or do you have a way to get them out too without hurting them? The casino representative said it was really important not to hurt them, so they don’t cause trouble later. He even said we could get fired for fighting at work." One of the students asks for another demonstration.
The second instructor looks to be an Incubus, mostly human with a whip like tail and tiny black horns that flow along his hairline like an accessory. He’s the stronger cultivator of the two, so I motion him forward to demonstrate.
He goes straight for the cheap shot, activating his seduction aura to slow my responses and weaken my will to fight. The Aura smacking into me triggers something in my mind, a certain feeling that if I let my energy out just exactly like he has done, then shift it towards a feeling of reverence for the God of Death, that all will be right in the world.
I’m good with relying on instinct, so that is exactly what I do, a feeling of impending doom filling the air before the cold nothingness of the underworld takes over and my Domain snaps into place.
Domain is an essential ability of a mid level Immortal cultivator, the ability to attune the world around them to their will, either by force or by manipulation. My domain is the second type, I am not forcing the world to change so my Domain can take over, only allowing that which is already there to change in balance until death is at the forefront. I can feel it resonate in the shrine of my spirit ocean, a permanent change taking place as the Domain assumes its rightful position, lending a cold impartiality to the feeling of the shrine.
Unlike the innate Aura of an Incubus, an Immortal Realm Cultivators Domain is incredibly powerful. Against the undefended, a domain takes control of everything. An ice domain could freeze every atom in its area when it is at maximum strength before a cultivator reaches Divinity. Even when first formed an Ice Domain can create liquid nitrogen from the air. But mine is a Death Domain, the true essence of the afterlife, and I have to reign it in quickly to avoid accidentally killing everyone within a city block of us and taking their souls to the underworld.
"So sorry about that. I’ve been working on my Domain during my cultivation, and the impact of the Aura was enough to cause it to fully form and snap into place. Is everyone alright?" I ask, panicking. They all look alright, but everyone except Karl is on their knees and bowing with their forehead on the floor, breathing heavily as they collect themselves. Even the Matron, who herself is likely an Immortal Realm cultivator has collapsed.
"How about we end the demonstration there? I think that was a bit more than we had expected, but it’s a valuable lesson on how a strong cultivator can control a situation without putting a hand on anyone." The Incubus pants, visibly sweating, before climbing to his feet.
"I’ll make it up to everyone. I’m a proper mystic chef, having passed the apprentice exam under a recognized master, so why don’t I make dinner for everyone tonight?" I ask and the kids smile, the prospect of a gourmet meal bringing a little joy, even with the haunted look that’s still in their eyes.
"Well, I guess we don’t need to wonder what sort of deity you’ll become. The Young Miss is making a run for Queen of the Underworld." The Matron laughs, patting me on the back and leading me towards the kitchen.
"I’ll be holding you to your promise to cook though."
I change to a more casual set of Taoist Robes from the Shadowed Blade Sect to wear while cooking and grab ingredients from my own storage, loading the ingredients Tiny brought today into the fridges and cupboards for later, and start making pastry dough, as that always takes the longest, and the rest of the kids aren’t back yet.
"Hey Ma, what happened? The neighbors said that it felt like everyone was going to die a horrible death, did someone walk through the house with their shoes on or something?" A gruff young man’s voice comes from the entry, followed by a bout of laughter from the street.
"Nothing to worry about dear, the instructors were just training with our guests and the aura spilled over." Ma replies with affection clear in her tone.
The kids all pile in, eager to see the guests and stop in shock at the state of the kitchen. I’ve got four different dishes going at the same time, and all three ovens are full of breads and pastries. The black energy in the room is looking like a tornado as I use it for everything at once, and a three hour meal preparation turns into fifteen minutes with the help of Mystic Cooking.
