Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 235
Chapter 235: Chapter 235
I write up an amended agreement requiring that all items are decursed before being traded, along with a couple other conditions that have been written in along the margins of the original agreement and set it into the stack to be sent out.
That’s the end of the day’s work, and the Junior Priestesses are getting along fairly well in their tasks, so I head off with John and Princess Amanda for evening tea, leaving the Junior Priestesses under the supervision of Lelou, who seems to have infinite patience for dealing with unruly children.
Princess Amanda has become totally obsessed with Anime, enough so that she tagged my Suite as a transport location from her bedroom without informing her father, in order to obtain new series that might come out once things settle down in our world, so the talk over tea has turned to fictional characters, and where they would be in the cultivation rankings if Earth’s producers had known that cultivation was a real thing.
"I tell you, he doesn’t even have a core. Goku is definitely in the late Condensation Realm." Steve argues, intentionally getting the princess worked up.
"He can fly, so he’s got to be in the Immortal Realm and has absorbed his core into his Nascent Soul." She counters.
"But he’s lousy at flying. A young pup can manage that level of flight with just energy manipulation and strong legs. So he’s a Mortal Realm mystic type cultivator who does a little work with his physique."
That’s the point where the King steps in to end this circular argument, announcing that there has been a change of plans due to something that was found in the world the cultists had moved between planes.
According to him, Both Beta John and the King have been receiving an increasing number of messages from home, interrupting their vacation, so the group from the Divine Realm is leaving tonight, ahead of schedule. He informs both new and the staff that he does have plans to return to check up on the volunteers, and enjoy this hidden gem of a resort in the near future though. Nobody would think to look for him in a mortal world, so if he starts ignoring messages he could hide here for weeks before they find him. But the resort is the one place in this world that has sufficient quality energy to be comfortable to him, so it would be a rest and relax type vacation.
To say the girls are sad to see them go is an understatement. Causing trouble in a mortal world is beneath their dignity, so they’ve all been on their best behavior. Well, except Steve, but you can’t win every time. The hostesses might actually miss him the most though, a Divine Realm cultivator is an amazing partner for their advancement.
The King is definitely dragging out his exit as much as he feasibly can. We’ve ordered snacks three times, tea twice, and he already blocked one attempt to open a portal to his location, informing them that the location was unstable.
"As much as I’m eager to get home, I will miss your company, High Priestess." Beta John smiles at me.
"Yeah, come visit regularly. And bring your mate, I’ll bet the Alpha has never seen anyone that had Bonded with an Elemental before." Steve adds.
This time they’re not taking no for an answer, and a portal opens at the edge of the artificial lake, but pointed the wrong way, out over the water. It wavers for a few seconds, then rotates to face all of us eating pastries around a wicker table and the look on the Royal Guards faces is pure rage. It’s not like there’s none of them here, a half dozen came along, but they’ve mostly been hiding discretely at the edge of the room, staying out of the way while guarding the King.
Then I realize, the guards aren’t glaring at us, but at each other. I wonder what they did to upset the force at home? My guess is that it has to do with either Elven wine or The Forbidden Treasure Sect ladies.
The King sighs and gets to his feet, loading a full tray of snacks into his storage rings and the guards look even more upset. Now I understand, the Queen has him on a diet, and these guards have been taking advantage of the distance to do absolutely zero to remind him about it.
"Your Majesty, your presence is required at court. The council has convened and your firsthand input is necessary for them to make their decision." The guard says with a look that speaks volumes about the tongue lashing he has already received from the council for being unable to retrieve the Nephilim King who is the final member of their Divine Council.
"Tell them I’ll be along presently. I’ve just got to finish this tea."
I can hear the angry cultivators in the background, so they certainly heard his response. They must either be gathered in the portal room, or the guard opened this one in the throne room. Beta John’s eyes glaze over for a moment, mind linking someone in his pack and I can hear laughter from the other side of the portal.
"Stephen, put your dick away and get over here." A female voice calls with a heavy dose of a Lycan Alpha’s Command heavy in the air. Poor Steve couldn’t delay his return even if he wants to now.
"I’m already dressed Grandma, I’ll be right there. Don’t believe everything John tells you, he’s just mad at me." The Lycan warrior calls before jumping through the portal.
"Dude, you told his mom?" I ask John.
"His grandmother. And he deserves it for being so irritating. But I’m off too, before he can spin a story to get himself out of trouble. Be safe Little Lycan, until we meet again."
With that he’s gone and we’re down to just the Royals. I jump into Amanda’s arms to give her a big hug, making her giggle and finally put her tablet down. It’s the biggest one we could find, but it still looks tiny in a Nephilim’s hands, like she’s watching shows on a slightly oversized phone. But they’ve got televisions with them, they’ll get it all sorted out eventually.
She promises to come visit again, and then they’re gone, the guards following them through just before the portal closes.
