Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 198
Chapter 198: Chapter 198
Our conversation is cut short by the ever bubbly Amanda. "Hey Young Miss, I have to know. What is your real name?"
"My real name? Katrina. But you can call me whichever you prefer. Young Miss is both a nickname and a title of sorts, so it’s fine for most situations."
"Well, you said you’ll break through again soon, and I wanted to hold a party for you, to celebrate and apologize for my idiot brother." She explains.
"Wait, what did he do? Was it the reason you gave us that particular gift?" Paula asks.
"He and father used a capture technique to bring her here, and then collared her and named her Puppy before they knew what and who she was. But what would the gift have to do with that? Do you give gifts to people you don’t like?" Amanda says the last while looking at me.
"The gift I gave them was more like a practical joke. I gave it to them because Paula here is a sweet young lady who was too shy to take what she wanted. Not because of your brother. I still owe him for calling me Puppy and for having me locked in a cell and sent to the arena." I explain and she smiles.
"But you’re not mad you’re here right?" The younger Princess asks. There is no negative in this girl’s world view at all is there?
They don’t consider mortals people at all here though, they put them on the level of livestock, treating the arena like a dog fight. So perhaps she simply doesn’t understand the level of angry I was feeling when I arrived.
"Let’s go make another recipe. Sister Paula, would you like to accompany us?" Amanda asks before dragging me along again, making her sister giggle while Ahra follows quietly behind us.
"That sounds pleasant. Might I make a request for the concoction?" Paula asks.
"Certainly, what did you have in mind?"
"Well, I’ve been thinking it over, and I’d like a fertility aid, if you can make one." Paula says quietly.
"I can do that. What about Amanda though? I’m certain she doesn’t know any fertility pills." The princess gives me a disgusted look before sticking out her tongue.
"Can you help me with this disguise pill? I want to be able to sneak out into the market without being recognized." Paula looks concerned at her intentions, but it’s just a Rank 3 disguise pill. It’ll wear off in a couple hours and she’ll likely be in the middle of the market, busted by her father’s guards. Call it a learning experience.
"Sure, just like this." The recipe is quick and relatively easy to make, so I demonstrate the technique while the sisters watch.
"That was impressive. You must have a lot of experience." Paula says, trying to delicately step around mentioning my age.
"Not as much as I’d like. Now Amy darling, you get started on that, and I will help big sister Paula here." I tell her with a big grin.
She happily sets to work, not even noticing that there is a guard outside the door with Ahra who heard every word of her intention to slip out shopping. The Mass Fertility pills take a little longer, and by the time I’m finished we’ve got more bystanders.
"Is that what I think it is?" The King says, pointing at the bottle of pills I just removed from the cauldron.
"Probably not. They’re just a simple luck pill to help Paula out with a childhood dream." I shake my head, denying whatever he thought might be the case.
"That’s good then. It certainly wouldn’t have been a unique concoction of Librarian Song anyhow, right. Since you don’t know the one my advisor meant?" Oh fudge. He summoned me here, which means it was his black circles that Elder Song was blocking. He already knows I lied to his advisor. Life was so much easier when I was the strong one and could just gloss over details without anyone questioning me.
"Well, I could use a little bit of luck too. Could you spare me one?" he asks with a grin. I hope his Queen is ready for this. I’m sure he’ll warn her anyhow, she’s his Queen and all.
"Certainly your majesty. Take your pick. Now, Amanda, take one of these before bed tonight and come to me in the morning. I’ll let you know the rest of the schedule then."
The leftover energy from the battle is starting to creep up on me again though. Or is there fighting going on again? I hope not, being surrounded by all these violent divine level cultivators will be the death of me.
There is crashing and the sounds of combat inside the building now though. It’s not just leftover energy, someone is attacking the palace.
"Did you guys upset someone recently? I mean other than the Titans? Because this is ridiculous." I say to Amanda, who seems the most likely to answer.
"Well, we’re always fighting with someone. The humans, the demons, the Seraphim. Even the Dragons sometimes. I don’t know who could have gotten into the palace though." She answers and the King facepalms. I knew she was the right choice.
The influx of Death Energy isn’t good for my stability though, and I’m forced to sit down, explaining that it feels like a Divine level cultivator has died and the extra energy can’t be Channeled to the Death God fast enough so I’m going to be forced to breakthrough.
The King locks us all in the room with Ahra and two guards and pulls chairs for his daughters from his storage ring. "Go ahead, I would like to watch this process. Doosan said you use pills to speed it up?"
"Yes, in fact we made some this morning. They increase my energy flow and make the advancement go more smoothly." At least I hope so, those Celestial Insight pills pack a serious punch according to Elder Song’s research, and aren’t suited to use by mortal cultivators.
But then I’m technically not mortal anymore am I? I’m sure it will be fine.
I take my usual Core Forming and Soul Forging pills to get things moving and the King looks intrigued.
"Such low grade pills, but they’re so effective at the lower Realms of cultivation. We’ve been doing it all wrong using higher grade pills that their bodies can’t fully absorb." He talks as he writes in his notebook. I guess being intrigued by new things is universal to everyone who lives a long time.
This time things go smoothly, the battle isn’t nearly as intense. After the second advancement, I have reached a plateau. I’ll likely get another one, maybe two out of the Deaths during this battle, but that will still leave me just shy of the boundary of Immortality. I’m not going to pass up such a great chance, you don’t get kidnapped to a Divine Plane every day. So in goes the Celestial Insight pill and the King’s eyes go wide.
I don’t think he realized I had made some too, much less that I was going to use one on myself at this level. Many pills simply don’t get absorbed by lower level cultivators, this particular pill is the opposite, it absorbs too well and has a habit of killing them.
I’m barely holding onto consciousness, but I know I can’t pass out. There’s a minor Tribulation that occurs when one Reaches Immortal Realm cultivation. Nothing compared to what I went through with Elder Song, but it requires focus to avoid mental damage.
