Mage And Wolf
Chapter 188

Chapter 188: Chapter 188

As we’re talking a large number of footfalls can be heard coming down the hallway at a fast walk. They stop in front of the door to this room and the door opens, revealing a man in fancy royal robes and a dozen guards outside.

"Papa, look how cute the puppy is!" Amanda cheers when she sees him, holding me up for him to inspect, shifting my shirt off my left shoulder and making him stop and gasp in horror.

"Mahmoud, what have you done? Amy, put her down this instant." he says in an angry voice, and the younger man just looks confused.

"Don’t be mad at her Papa. We’re going to be the very best of friends" I wink, wrapping my legs around Amanda’s waist when she suddenly lets go of me.

"You stay out of this. I would have never approved this if I knew you belonged to the Black Dragon. What should I do with you now? I can’t send you back and admit I kidnapped one of her Priestesses, we’re already on bad terms." He mutters mostly to himself.

Mahmoud still looks clueless, and his father turns the full Wrath of a Divine Being on him. "What did I tell you? Pick a subject that won’t be missed. You had one simple criteria." the man rages.

"I thought you picked me because you wanted to know what the Titans wanted?" I ask innocently, stirring up more trouble.

"The Titans would risk the Wrath of the Dragon Gods to kill or capture you? Well, isn’t that interesting. Son, do you know what prophecy they were trying to change?"

Maybe I should have just kept my mouth shut like he recommended.

"I don’t know, I wanted to study her and find out. If they’re attacking a mortal realm like that she must do something important in the future." He explains.

"Fine, I will cover this up for now. Do your study and find out what the Titans wanted with a Mortal Priestess of the Death God. In the meantime, hide her mark and send her to the arena where she will be safe and secure, you can’t just keep something that dangerous in your room, even if you are the Crown Prince."

The father, who I assume must be the Nephilim King, if his son is Crown Prince, snaps his fingers and I’m grabbed by the guards, my cuffs locked together with what feels like divine energy into an uncomfortable hogtie that is used like a handle to carry me across the palace in to what looks like a dungeon.

The guard following us casts some sort of spell on me and I can see my mark fade until my shoulder looks like the same pale, unmarked skin as the rest of me. The second guard makes a satisfied noise and comes closer to double check his handiwork. Jerk.

"Get your sleep Priestess, you’re going to need it." The guard carrying me says before tossing me to the floor and slamming the door behind him. How exactly is this safe and secure? Those guards are terrible at following directions.

"You forgot to unlock me." I call after them and I can hear the sounds of laughter from the cells beside mine.

"They do it to every new gladiator they bring in. They’ll unlock you in the morning when they bring the food, unless they’re mad at you, in which case they’ll just unlock your door and let the others have a go at you while you’re trussed up." a male voice from the cell on my left says with anticipation.

Fine, I’ll solve this myself. They locked it with just a hint of divine energy, I should be able to unlock it the same way. I focus hard and manage to get just a bit of divine energy to flow through me to all my limbs while I focus on unlocking the cuffs. It’s half successful, they’re not stuck to each other anymore, but they’re still securely attached to my limbs.

"Hey, how did you do that?" A voice from the corner of my cell whispers. I didn’t even realize I wasn’t alone in here. Her energy level is so low as to be nearly undetectable, and she’s leaning against the wall with her hands cuffed to her collar. The woman is a half giant, covered in scars and bruises, naked and coated in filth. Not only is she bound with her hands to her neck, she’s also Chained to the wall. They must really want her to stay in place.

I silently shift myself to her corner and focus what divine energy I can, unlocking her wrists and freeing her from the wall. It’s better than I expected to manage, but the Divine Energy in this world is intense. I place a finger to my lips to signal silence and she shakes my hand in both of hers with happy tears running down her face.

"My name is Ahra, or at least it is now." She says softly, pointing at her collar and looking at mine. "They named you Puppy? That’s just horrible."

So my supposed ’name’ is written on the smooth collar around my neck. Ahra has the same sort of leather and padlock style collar as Domaya, and the manacles are coarse iron.

"Well aren’t you just special then." The man in the next cell says in an evil voice. "You hear that boys, someone brought us a Puppy to play with. They put her in with Ahra, so you know they’re not coming to unlock her in the morning."

"You sure you want to do that? I play pretty rough." I call back, looking at the door. It’s big enough for the Seraphim to walk through easily, even with their wings taking up extra space, so it’s possible whoever they’re keeping in the other cells is just as large.

If it weren’t for the light through the small window in the steel entrance door it would be pitch black in here, but as it is, I can tell that the room is some sort of coarse cut granite, with a floor worn smooth from use and a large steel door. There’s a hole in the corner for a toilet and a bucket that might have once held water. The room is bone dry though, and one wall is a fair bit warmer, making me think it might be an exterior wall.

Getting out of here could either be very easy, or very hard, depending how secure these walls are.
