Madam Wants To Divorce Her Second Husband -
Chapter 89
Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Now that Aiden had passed, she became a highly sought widow in the elite circle of New York. It was unfortunate that Winter got so heartbroken, she locked herself up after Aiden’s death.
These men thought that Winter would eventually open herself after a year or two, but nobody expected her to get married a year after Aiden’s death, and the man became the new CEO of Goldmine Realty.
Sebastian’s eyes peered at everyone in the venue. He noticed many lecherous, disdainful, or even downright perverted leers coming from the men. Thus, he pulled Winter closer to him.
Just as he expected, these men must’ve been waiting for Winter to be single again, so they could have their chance.
’How come I never paid attention to this in my previous life?’ Sebastian pondered.
In their previous lives, they also came to these kinds of events together. But he was so busy trying to build connections with fellow businessmen that he left Winter alone.
’Did Winter hook up with one of these men while I’m not around?’
That question popped into his head.
He knew that it was very unlikely for Winter to cheat on him. She was a woman who took her sacred marriage vow very seriously.
’But even if she cheated on me, do I even have the right to get angry?’ Sebastian questioned himself. He was the one who kept ignoring her and even went as far as looking away when she tried to seduce him. So, even if Winter cheated on her, he only had himself to blame.
’I know she won’t cheat, but...’ Sebastian felt the burn in his heart coursed through his body. He got angry at the idea of Winter with another man.
Winter saw the terrible expression on his face. He unknowingly glared at every man who dared to look in their direction, and it wouldn’t give him a good look.
So, she stepped on his shoes, hard enough to let him notice the pain, but light enough not to make him scream in agony.
"You’re glaring at everyone, Sebastian. Be nice and show your kind smile. Keep your heads up, and your back straight," Winter whispered to Sebastian, thinking this would be his first formal event with the elites.
Sebastian already knew all of the necessary etiquette, but he was so overwhelmed by anger and jealousy that he couldn’t control his expression. Thus, he took a deep breath and his smile returned, subsequently charming the ladies around him.
Winter grinned seeing Sebastian captivating the ladies around him. She didn’t feel jealous, it didn’t matter if he cheated or not anyway.
She was ready to let him go, as long as Sebastian left without taking anything that was inherited by Aiden. She preferred to live a peaceful life alone, after all.
"Don’t look at the women just yet. We still have to meet with Lucien," Winter said. "Then, you can go for those rich women once you’re done talking to him."
"I’m not looking at them," Sebastian denied quickly. "I was just looking at those men who are leering at you. I need to be by your side for the entire night."
"What are you, my bodyguard? I have Arthur for that."
"I’m your husband. So I will also protect you, naturally," Sebastian said casually as if it was the normal thing to do.
Winter’s lips curled up. She said nothing and led Sebastian towards Lucien whom she noticed at the corner of her eyes.
As they walked through the crowd of guests, Sebastian kept on glaring at these filthy rich men who dared to leer at his wife, while also ignoring the women. He saw them smiling at him a few times, but none caught his attention.
Not that they weren’t pretty, but Sebastian only had his eyes on his wife.
"You’re the prettiest in this room, by the way," Sebastian whispered.
"What was that for?" Winter raised her brow. "And you don’t need to lie to me. There are many young women here too. Oh, you see that woman over there? She’s the heiress of a renowned clothing brand in Korea, Patricia Jung. She will be the new owner once her father retires. She’s a year younger than you, so you might want to court her later."
"Why are you trying to set me up with another woman?" Sebastian asked, his gaze darkened as he was angry at the idea of Winter trying to push him away. "I’m your husband, you are the only woman in my life."
Winter looked up, and smiled at Sebastian, "You may say that now. But I know you better than yourself. I’m just making sure you have an exit strategy, got it?"
Sebastian wanted to protest again.
In fact, he wanted to kiss her in this venue, seen by at least dozens of people, just to make a statement about them being married. But before he could do that, Winter said, "Okay, that’s him, Lucien LeBlanc."
Sebastian followed her line of sight, and saw a man in his early forties with a well-maintained body, though he was a little shorter than him. The man still had full hair even though his sideburns were already graying, which made him wonder if that man was getting a hair transplant surgery.
’But not me. I know for sure I’ll still have full hair when I’m hitting my forties,’ Sebastian told himself, feeling competitive over stupid things such as hair. He didn’t know who his father was, but according to Camilla, his father was a piece of shit who deserved to die. The only good thing about him was his face.
-
’Good thing you look like me, not him. I’d choke you to death when you were a baby if you looked like that bastard,’ Camilla told Sebastian when he was in elementary school.
-
’Hm, since my mom said so. Then I guess I don’t need to worry about my hair, right? Oh, my mind trailed off again. This is a problem for later years in our marriage,’ Sebastian quickly refocused himself when they stood in front of Lucien LeBlanc.
