Chapter 881: Chapter 881: His Fairy-tale Story Was Told So Badly
Fairy-tale stories all happened last century, but who in the last century called a mirror a makeup mirror? That’s totally breaking the immersion.
Thank goodness he didn’t tell Baby Chi about it, otherwise, with Baby Chi’s ’hundred thousand whys’ habit, she would definitely start questioning from the makeup mirror to the technological level of that era. And then she’d get into a discussion about running a small business.
"She eats well, drinks well, and has nothing to do all day long, and she likes to hold the mirror and look at herself, asking the mirror, ’Mirror, mirror, who is the most beautiful woman in this world?’ The mirror always says it’s her. The Queen is very happy. She continues to eat well, drink well, and do nothing."
Li Beijue became increasingly impatient as he spoke. What kind of people wrote this story?
So the Queen has nothing to do all day? Just holding a mirror and being narcissistic?
He had seen many queens from small countries that still maintain a monarchy constitution, each one capable of horse riding, shooting, waltzing, diplomacy, playing the piano... you name it. On top o that, they had to accompany their husbands on diplomatic missions, and even manage their own investments. They were busy spinning around all day long, with absolutely no time to hold a mirror and gab. The person who wrote this story definitely had no clue what a queen looks like.
Though he was extremely impatient, he continued with the story, "As the little princess grew up, she became more and more beautiful, and everyone called her Snow White. Snow White was smart and kind, much like you. One day, the Queen who had nothing better to do asked the mirror again who was the prettiest. The mirror said Snow White. The Queen, jealous of Snow White’s beauty, banished her from the palace."
Chi Enen listened with her face full of black lines.
Li Beijue’s storytelling really sucked, it was terrible to listen to.
A perfectly good story was turned into a mess because of his arbitrary additions.
But for some reason, even though it was such a terrible story, and she already knew what the ending was like, she actually got into it.
The restlessness that persisted in her heart calmed down slowly with his deep voice...
Once her mood relaxed, the tensed string in her mind also loosened, and fatigue swept over her like a tide.
"Although Snow White was beautiful, she was useless. After being cast out, she couldn’t find a place to live and entered the forest. The Queen sent a hunter to kill her, but because she was beautiful, the hunter let her go, randomly finding some animal’s blood to deceive the Queen into thinking she was dead. What kind of ghost story is this..." He grumbled unhappily but continued reluctantly, "Snow White ran away and ended up in a little house in the forest. She ate others’ food without asking and fell asleep. When she woke up, she discovered Seven Dwarfs. The Seven Dwarfs, seeing her beauty, took her in. And they warned her to be wary of the Queen and not to talk to strangers when there was nothing else to do."
"But Snow White didn’t listen to the advice, and every time she chatted with the people the Queen disguised herself as, and each time it was the Seven Dwarfs who saved her. Finally, one time, she ate a poisonous apple and even the Seven Dwarfs were helpless. They made her a coffin and put her inside. As it happened, a passing prince saw her. The prince, thinking she was beautiful, kissed her. The piece of poisoned apple in Snow White’s mouth was coughed out."
He retracted his previous comment; this Snow White was nothing like Chi Enen!
Chi Enen isn’t that brainless; she wouldn’t ignore advice and be repeatedly deceived by the same person. Moreover, he couldn’t tell from beginning to end where this Snow White’s intelligence and kindness lay. Is being deceived a sign of being smart and kind?
