’That’s true, I guess I’ll find a way later, I’m just going to take a quick nap, and then join the girls to eat breakfast’ Ethan muttered as he closed his eyes, and after a while, he drifted off to sleep.

Ethan let out a yawn as his eyes fluttered open, Ethan stretched his body on the bed for a while before sitting up, to be honest, he was still tired but he was also hungry.

Ethan looked at the other bed and none of the girls were in it, Ethan stepped down from his bed and saw Isabella lying down with her eyes open, she was angry at something.

"Isabella..." Ethan muttered and she turned towards him, now he knew she was angry.

"What’s wrong?" Ethan asked.

"Nothing serious, you don’t have to worry," Isabella said with a smile.

Ethan stood there staring at her and didn’t move till she sat up from her bed, "what’s wrong?"

Isabella took a deep breath before speaking, "My mother said if I don’t win rank 1 in my class, she’s going to withdraw me from the academy, she doesn’t even want me here but since I passed the test, I should be the best to keep the dignity of the Royal family"

"Your mum is kinda strict with you, but that’s not something to be worried about, you are skilled in magic so I’m sure you can be top 1" Ethan muttered as he tapped her shoulder lightly.

"I’m Rank 5" Isabella muttered.

"Rank 5, have the ranking begin, I didn’t participate" Ethan muttered.

"Yeah, you are automatically ranked at last for not participating, ranks are displayed on our left hand, check yours" Isabella replied and Ethan looked at his hand and the number 80 was written and glowing slightly on his hand.

’Fuck, I messed up’

"But you are ranked at 5, I’m sure you can reach the top, who are the top rankers?" Ethan asked.

"The lightning girl, Hannah, Crystal, and Freya, rank 1, 2, 3, and 4, I faced off against Freya and I lost, I can’t believe she was holding back during our training, or was she training in secret" Isabella mouthed.

"So bottom line, you can’t advance anymore, but I’m sure you can beat Crystal and take her 4 place, maybe your mum would be impressed by that"

"I don’t think she would, maybe she would be impressed if I was one of the top three," Isabella said.

"But you have plenty of chances to challenge them over the month, so just keep training and you’ll have to duel every day so you’ll learn a new thing every day, I’ll have to fight my way into the top"

"Sorry I didn’t ask, are you feeling okay, you collapsed in the morning," Isabella asked.

"I’m fine now, wait...in the morning?" Ethan asked.

"Yes, it’s already evening, the sun is no longer up" Isabella spoke and Ethan was shocked, he actually slept till evening, which explains why he was so hungry.

First Ethan went to the bathroom to clean his teeth, after what he did with the instructors he wasn’t going to take a bath today again, so after washing his teeth and his face he went to the dining hall.

Some girls were inside the bath but he left as quickly as he entered without looking at them, he was blinded by hunger.

Ethan walked in and a few students were still in, each of the students is entitled to three meals a day, so Ethan took a dish and walked towards the counter where he would be served.

The elf wasn’t in front today because she was cooking but still, he was treated generously and enjoyed the food since he didn’t eat breakfast or lunch.

Ethan quickly ate and went towards the dueling building since most of the students were still hanging around, all the girls were staring at Ethan to see if it was okay.

Most of them were surprised, if he wasn’t able to keep up with training then how did he beat Crystal who was now one of the top of their class, it was baffling but Ethan didn’t care as he walked in and now he knew why the students were still hanging around.

A match was about to take place, the students were 80, and so they would be at least 40 matches every day, more than 40 since they were required to fight twice, so one dueling area wasn’t enough.

The instructor should know this but since Ethan wasn’t around he didn’t know what decisions were made but this wasn’t the time, in front of him were two girls, one of whom he recognized.

One of them was the tall girl whom he met in the forest during their first test which was canceled, if he remembered clearly her affinity was water, given the way she held tiny pouches around her waist he was right.

The girl in front of her Ethan didn’t know but he was glad to see the fight, both of the girls stood their ground and took stance then the battle began.

The instructor was there as a supervisor so Ethan hid behind a student to hide from her, Sarah and Clara were also there.

The tall girl struck first as she turned the water from the pouches into sharp arrows of ice and shot it towards the other girl, now Ethan knew what affinity she had as she effortlessly dashed away from danger and struck back.

She had affinity to air and a thin blade made of air was shot towards her, instead go dodging she created a shield of water in front of herself and the blade created a sharp line on her barrier before fading away.

Ethan wondered why she did that and when the barrier came down the tall girl had a smile on her face as she dashed forward.

’Oh I see, she was testing to see if the girl’s spells have good attacking power, and turns out they don’t, even my wind cutter or aero blade can do a lot better’
