Chapter 138: Echo Sonata

Back home, Jayden had breakfast and picked out an outfit for his date with a goddess. Then he did some research and watched a movie on his tab.

The hours passed by like a whisper, and soon it was evening.

Jayden stood in front of the mirror, putting on his shirt like a man going into battle. Black button-up, slight shimmer. Fitted slacks. Clean shoes. Casual, but stylish. Strong jawline freshly shaved, silver hair combed neatly into a windswept curve.

He grabbed his cologne, gave a subtle spritz, and stepped out.

.....

At 6:55 PM, Jayden stepped through the gate of the Isley estate. The night air glimmered with city lights ashe as he walked towards the mansion, his breath fogging slightly against the cool breeze.

But as Jayden approached the driveway... he paused. Somewhere was already there, waiting for him.

Leaning casually against her obsidian hovercar, with arms folded like a queen waiting for her knight, was Penelope.

Her dress was midnight blue, sleeveless and silky, cascading down her frame like melted shadow. Her hair was curled, pinned slightly at the back with gold clasps. A soft necklace shimmered at her collarbone.

She looked like the embodiment of elegance.

"You’re a bit early," she teased with a smile that curved like a secret.

Jayden chuckled. "You’re stunning," he replied.

Penelope laughed softly, clearly amused and flattered. "Charming, punctual, and honest. You’re really stacking those points, Jayden."

Jayden smiled wrly. "I try my best," he muttered.

They exchanged playful banter, a slow burning chemistry dancing between them like fireflies. Then she opened the passenger door for him like a reverse chivalry spell.

"Hop in, my little wolf-boy."

Jayden grinned as she opened the hovercar. He slid into the passenger seat, the scent of her perfume wrapping around him like silk.

He sat comfortably in the vehicle and she hopped in as well before starting the engines.

As the vehicle glided into motion, city lights streaking past the glass, Jayden turned to her.

"So... where are we going tonight?"

Penelope glanced sideways at him with a playful smirk. "Somewhere peaceful."

That was all she said. And she refused to say more, even when he nudged and teased.

They passed the neon-lit districts, left the chaos of night markets behind, and soon pulled up to an elegant building crafted like a marble shell.. its curves smooth, its architecture humming with grace.

In glowing, elegant cursive across the entrance:

"The Echo Sonata Hall."

Jayden’s breath hitched. He recognised this place. It was a top-tier luxury building used by the city’s most influential people to host shows and... Orchestras. Tonight’s delight.

Jayden was excited. He loved orchestras.

"You listen to classical music?" he asked Penolope.

"Well, I don’t just listen. I make them," she smiled. "I used to sing in choirs when I was younger. And I’ve written a few sonatas of my own. Classical music really... clears the soul y’know?"

Jayden stared at her with stars in his eyes. He now understood where Cassandra’s love for classical music came from.

"You’re incredible."

Penolope chuckled in response and reached for his hand. "Come on, let’s go. Before our seats gets taken." She tugged his hand and led him up the carpeted steps like a queen welcoming her prince into her world.

When they entered, the foyer was wide and marble white, chandeliers like frozen fireworks hanging above. She flashed a golden card to the front receptionist, who straightened instantly like a soldier in the presence of nobility.

Moments later, a silent usher led them to a private viewing booth... lined with velvet seats, vintage gold-trimmed binoculars, and a glass table already adorned with wine, strawberries, and exotic snacks.. A perfect, secluded view of the glowing stage below.

It was more than luxury. It was a cloud.

Jayden sat slowly, trying not to feel out of place, his gaze flickering between the gleaming instruments below and the goddess beside him.

It was then that he realised something... Penolope wasn’t just an influencial person with too much money and power. She was a classy and sophisticated woman with the grace and manners of a queen. A beautiful and accurate definition of Nobility. An epitome of Virtue.

Penelope crossed her legs as she sat, pouring wine for herself and sipping from the glass with elegance that seemed practiced by lifetimes. "You’re staring. Do I look that good?"

Jayden smiled. "You look like you were sculpted by moonlight," he murmured.

Penolope blinked once—then looked away with a quiet smirk. She was pleased.

Then... the lights of the hall dimmed. A hush swept over the crowd like a silken wave, and then—

The orchestra began.

A soft piano note, like a sigh from the stars. Then violins joined.. tender, trembling, filling the room with a longing that pierced the soul. The orchestra bloomed into color and emotion, and Jayden felt his breath catch.

Strings. Cellos. Harps. A slow sonata blossomed like a rose in a thunderstorm.

Jayden didn’t move. Neither did Penelope.

It was like their souls were pulled into a shared current... dancing in silence, carried by notes older than time.

As the music continue... time slipped away.

Jayden didn’t know how long they sat in that booth, side by side, listening in shared silence. But something strange happened: the music didn’t just fill the room. It wrapped around them. Their energies syncing to the tempo. Her shoulder brushing his ever so slightly. Their eyes meeting. The unspoken things between them began to swell with every crescendo.

Jayden found himself lost.. not just in the performance, but in her. In her scent, her presence, the ghost of her breath against his cheek when she leaned in to whisper, "Do you feel it?"

He nodded. "Yes. It’s like our souls are dancing."

She looked at him as if she’d never seen him before. "Exactly."

The music soared, and for a moment, they weren’t in a booth or in a city or even in a body. They were two stars adrift in a galaxy of sound.

Then, after a final note left them both breathless, the crowd erupted into applause.

Penelope, cheeks slightly flushed, reached for a wine bottle and poured two glasses. "That was incredible," she murmured, her voice low.

"Yeah," Jayden replied softly as he accepted the glass she offered him. "Beyond words."

They clinked glasses gently, the fine aroma of aged grapes swirling in the air between them.

They sipped in silence, the mood tender and warm, like a lingering hug. Until Penelope turned toward him, her voice softer than it had ever been.

"Jayden..." she asked.

He turned to her, brow slightly raised.

"What do you think of me?"
