Chapter 80: In the kitchen_punishment
As they walked into the hallway that lead to his condo, Mia hugged her midriff with the grocery bags hanging on both her sides. She tried to remain invisible as much as possible until she would be done with her work and go home. He was walking ahead of her and she walked slowly behind him with her insecurities taking over her emotions unknown to her that the man in front of her was using every bit of self control to keep himself from following his desires. He had dusted his shirt in the elevator because he felt the place where she touched him burn, he was disgusted at himself for getting easliy aroused by just her mere touch.
They walked in silence, the only sound echoing through the hallway being the soft click of their footsteps against the polished marble floor. Neil could sense the unusual silence from the girl behind him but he was too annoyed with himself to care about her feelings.
Finally, they reached the entrance of his condo. He swiftly typed in his complicated password, his long fingers tapping the keys with speed. The door clicked and slowly swung open, revealing the cold lavish condo that felt gloomy and empty to Mia despite the luxurious setting, she could never get use to such black and gray house.
The room was dim until he pressed a button on the wall and the glass walls of the living room revealed the outside world, it reflected the bustling city of Zen bathed in the sunlight. The only thing she liked about his condo was the view from the glass walls. Thought Mia as she stared at the outside through the glass wall, momentarily forgetting about the insecurities that were eating away her heart. She hugged her midriff and watched an airplane flew across the sky above the skyscrapers of the city. The last time she came here, she hadn’t noticed how beautiful the city was from the view up here.
As Mia was lost in the view of the city, she didn’t notice how the man behind her was staring at her figure with a slightly softened expression that betrayed his usual stoic face. She was unknowingly standing at his favourite spot where he would look out to the city to clear his mind.
She looked like a fallen angel standing there bathed in the sunlight. Though he’d noticed how she never wore dresses or makeup, she always seemed to like simple outfits yet she looked more adorable and beautiful than those caked face women with heavy makeup. Neil would have liked to admire the angel standing by his window but the effect of that damn fruit was starting to act up again in his body, the demons in him were fighting to come lose and pounce on her like a hungry beast.
"Fuck," he cursed under his breath then walked away from the living room with long angry strides that mirrored his irration. When he entered his room, he forcefully slammed the door behind him making Mia, who had been lost in the view outside jump in fright at the sudden bang.
She swirled around and noticed Mr. Ice Cube was no where in sight and immediately realized he was the one who must have slammed the door. What a temper he had. Mia thought as she bent down and began to pick up the grocery bags on the floor. She’d better start with her work and leave before sunset. It was already five minutes to four, she would like to be at home by five pm so she would look for a decent dress for Monday’s event_which she wasn’t even excited about because she wasn’t confident enough to compete with the rest.
The winning requirements included beauty and intelligence, she was confident in her intelligence but not her beauty. There was nothing wrong with being average but sometimes people made her feel insecure and self-conscious of her looks. She hadn’t made much friends in highschool because no one wanted to be friends with a plain Jane with high IQ. Mia had graduated highschool with high grades, she used to be the top in her class and in every school activities, which was how she had gotten a scholarship in Ivy Grove. However, being intelligent wasn’t enough in Ivy Grove, one had to be at least beautiful even though you don’t fit into the class of the wealthy students.
Unfortunately, she had none of the things that would make her fit into their standards. And today’s experience in the elevator had made her feel even worse about herself. It reminded her of all the times she would hate to look Into the mirror of her bathroom when taking a shower. When she was a teenager, her body development had started earlier than her other age mates in school, she had started her puberty at the age of ten. She recalled seeing how her breasts were growing faster than the other girls, which made her start to wear baggy shirts to hide them because of how weird she felt then.
Mia dismissed all the negative thought from her mind so she could focus on cooking a good meal for her professor despite his action that had hurt her and reminded her of all of her insecurities. She wouldn’t want to lose her job because of her silly feelings that were hurt.
Besides, why was she even getting mad at him when they weren’t even friends or anything? He was her professor and her employer, she was the one getting ahead of herself because of how he had helped her talk to Mr. Galverra about her scholarship.
"Mia you better stop letting your crush for his eyes get over you. You are the last person on earth a man like that would fancy, you better focus on your job and stop over thinking things. You need to work and support your mother." She whispered to herself as she made her way towards the kitchen carrying six of the grocery bags in both hands.
Mia looked around the luxurious clean kitchen that wasn’t spared from the black and gray color. The modern black kitchen had a large island, two gray chairs beside it, and a wall-mounted light fixture. With sleek black wood cabinets, a black granite countertop and a dark stainless steel sink that looked like it had never been used before.
There was also a large glass window with the view of the outdoors, adding natural light to the dark themed space. And as Mia admired the kitchen, she couldn’t help but think that Mr. Ice cube was a sucker for dark colors. It seemed like he had never used any of his kitchen equipment as she began to pull out the pans and pots.
All the cooking equipments were still wrapped in their sealed package, which meant they were recently brought. When Mia walked towards the bin to throw away the wraps, she saw used coffee mugs and a plates inside the bin along with a few spoons.
What the heck! She thought in disbelief as she looked down at the bin with her lips tightly pressed together in displeasure. So he disposed of his used plates instead of washing them. No wonder the sink looked like it had never been used before, it was because he had never used it or anything in this kitchen!
Such a wastrel he was! Mia thought as she bent down and brought out the plates and seemingly expensive mugs from the clean bin. Perhaps it was because of how she was raised by her mother and taught to never waste things, but thinking about how much more of this plates he had wasted instead of washing them, made her feel annoyed. He should be spanked and punished for being such a lazy hygiene freak! Mia thought as she washed the dishes and put them away while wishing she could punish the man like how her mother would punish her as a child whenever she wasted her food or anything useful. But then who would dare punish that ice cube of a man?
Nobody!
***
As Mia was silently cursing Neil for being a wastrel in the kitchen, the latter was in his gloomy dark theme bathroom standing under the freezing cold shower, which he had set to a coldest as his bathroom was surrounded with high tec equipments, he could set his shower to ice cold water that was as cold as being outside in winter. As the freezing water descended on his heated body, he closed his eyes to let it seep into his mind and soul. The water was so cold to the extent cold fog emitted from his body as if he was using hot water.
Neil stood under the shower until he felt his bones and his teeth chattering together in cold. He turned off the shower and wrapped his lower body around a black towel, then took another towel to wipe his dripping wet hair. It had been long since he had to bath with cold water to suppresse his desires. He couldn’t even remember the last time he was aroused like this, because he had gone to live in seclusion two years ago on his island, but Mia Harrison was making him go out of his mind ever since the day he had taken a short nap with her on his bed. He had felt something similar then and had to shower with cold water and today was even worst.
He stepped out of his bathroom at the same time he heard his phone ringing on the bed where he had thrown it when he rushed into the room. He frowned as he picked up the phone and saw it was a text message. Reading the text message, he raised his eyebrows in realisation. Then, he began to look for Mia’s contact number on his phone. Finding it, he typed down a few messages before he sent them to her. Though she was in his house at the moment, he didn’t want to look at her again until he was sure he wouldn’t lust over any of her innocent actions.
Does she even have any idea how much she had punished him for the whole day?
