Loving The Temperamental Adonis
Chapter 52: Being carried

Chapter 52: Being carried

"You will go home once you’re in the condition to. Get in." Neil repeated himself calmly, but she still shook her head firmly, "No. I want to leave now." Mia stubbornly refused his offer to enter the elevator that would take them to who-knows-where he was taking her to. If he was ashamed to be seen with her, then she would rather return home than subject him to further embarrassment in this luxurious place.

Neil’s brows furrowed as he looked at the stubborn young woman who refused to get into the elevator. She remained rooted outside the elevator doors, clutching her bag tightly against her chest as though it would shield her from the chill that surely accompanied the air conditioning in every corner of the building. He had brought her here for her own benefit, so she would not return home appearing disheveled. He had even hurried through the lobby, knowing she would hurry along with him to spare her from the gaze of the few people present and prevent her from feeling uncomfortable due to her unkempt appearance_because he had noticed how uncomfortable she looked when he glanced at her in the elevator earlier.

However, he might have gone out of his way to save her the embarrassment, he wouldn’t waste his time to coax a grown woman into doing what was in her best interest. He didn’t even know why he had brought her to his apartment instead of just leaving her at the university. But then since he had already gone through the trouble of bringing her here, he wasn’t going to let his trouble go in vain, she would do as he says, because he said so. He didn’t like it when people didn’t follow his command, and this girl before him seemed to have the habit of not doing as he commanded until she made him repeat himself.

And since he had calmly instructed her to enter the elevator two times and she continued to refuse, she left him no choice but to resort to his own methods.

"Are you going to walk into the elevator, or shall I be forced to compel you?" he sternly asked, his voice icy and his impassive demeanor leaving no room for her to dare to refuse once more.

Moreover, because they were still in the lobby area, the receptionists and the securities were all looking at them now because of her stubbornness.

Mia met his stone cold expression and swallowed hard as she felt a shiver down her spine. Why does he always have to command her and make her do things his own way? He was the one who brought her here and yet he started to walk fast in the lobby as if he didn’t want the people to see that they had come together, and when she didn’t want to be here and wanted to go home, he was using that authoritative tone with her.

Why should she listened to him when he wasn’t her father or mother? She didn’t even know where they were going and why should she follow someone she didn’t know? Being her professor doesn’t give him the right to command her!

Mia pursed her lips and raised her chin stubbornly, she then murmured, "I am not going to enter, and if you’re not going to drop me off at the nearest bus station, I will find my way back home." She huffed at him and turned on her heels to leave, but she hadn’t even reached the exit before he got out of the elevator and caught up with her.

"You will do as I say, young woman." He gritted his teeth, and not caring that the front desk staffs and the securities in the building were now looking at them, Neil pulled her wrist.

"Let go off me! You are too arrogant and full of yourself, and if you think you can force me into that elevator, you must be out of your_Ahh, put me down!"

Ignoring her scream, Neil effortlessly lifted her onto his shoulder, and her struggles to slide down were useless against his strong grip. Onlookers in the lobby watched in surprise and disbelief as Neil carried her like a sack towards the waiting elevator. They had been surprised to see him walk into the building with a woman who looked like she had been dug out from a trash can, but now they were witnessing him carry her onto his shoulder despite how messy she looked.

But then the girl didn’t seem like she wanted to be here. Was he forcing a woman to stay against her will? Should the securities interfere? However, knowing how bad tempered the man was, interfering in his business_when it wasn’t a big deal that he was carrying a woman_ could cause them all to lose their jobs, and besides the woman didn’t seem to be screaming for help. Thus, they all just watched the show as he carried her back to the elevator, and when they entered the elevator, the female receptionist had on a dreamy expression.

"I’d sell my soul to the devil just to be in that lady’s shoes. Imagine being carried by such a hunk."

"You better stop dreaming and focus on your work, she’s probably some girl who messed with the wrong man. That man has a temper, and I wouldn’t want to be in that woman’s shoes with that dark look in his eyes when he carried her."

"Humph, you are just being a party pooper because you almost lost your job by sending the room cleaners to his condo when he had warned us not to allow anyone into his property."

The four female receptionists continued to argue.

As the elevator doors closed, Mia’s muffled protests echoed in the small space. "Put me down!" she demanded while wiggling on his shoulder, but Neil frowned his brows in displeasure,"Be quiet, you’re screaming in my ears." He said lazyly while adjusting her on his shoulder. He wasn’t going to put her down until he’d gotten into his condo. She was the first person who always made him go out of his ways to get her to do what he wanted, and the fact that he wasn’t irritated by her stubbornness and insult, surprised and amused him at the same time. Moreover, he carried her without feeling repulsed by the close body contact.

Normally, any slight physical contact with someone would repulse him, and he would feel an overwhelming urge to cleanse his body. Many people who didn’t know him well would consider him a hygiene freak. Even Liam would always comment on how he would replace his dirty dishes and furnitures instead of getting a house cleaner to take care of everything. He just couldn’t stand anybody being in his personal space or touching anything of his.

Mia resigned and she stopped struggling, knowing it was futile against his strong control. However, a deep blush spread across her face when she felt his hand beneath her buttocks, keeping her firmly in place on his shoulder. The way he carried her caused her dress to ride up, revealing her thighs, and his hand was literally resting on her bare skin. The warmth from his palm sent a tingling sensation through her body and making her feel slightly uneasy.

Before Mia could try to move so his hand would move away from below her buttocks, the elevator door dinged opened, revealing Neil’s fancy apartment hallway. He used one hand to keep a firm grip on the girl on his shoulder, and then the other to easily type in his apartment code on the door.

The door clicked opened, and a robotic voice spoke out of nowhere startling Mia, who couldn’t see what the man who carried her was doing. "Welcome home Mr. Bennett."

Mia, surprised by the unexpected greeting, strained to see beyond the dark floor of the room he entered. It was only when Neil put her down that she was finally able to take in the luxurious surroundings. Her breath caught short in her lungs at the sight of the room before her.

She looked around the luxurious black-themed living room with large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city skyline, with the cityscape bathed in sunlight, casting a warm glow over the spacious living room. All the furnitures in the room were either black or gray, including the large couch and coffee table, even the tiles and walls. The city skyline in the background added a sense of grandeur and sophistication to the space.

However, she couldn’t help but feel that the gloomy atmosphere of the place was depressing, lacking any vibrant colors or a sense of warmth. Despite the presence of the furniture, the place gave off an empty vibe. It came as no surprise that someone like Mr. Ice Cube would reside in such a fancy yet melancholic abode. But wait, this was his home, so why did he bring her here?

Mia shook off her fascination and cautiously glanced at Mr. Ice Cube, who stood before her with his arms casually crossed over his chest. "Why did you bring me to your house?" she inquired, attempting to conceal her suspicions and fear. She had been foolish to follow someone she barely knew, especially someone who seemed more like a shady criminal than the professor he claimed to be. He had been shot on Friday night, yet here he was on Monday afternoon, seemingly unharmed. Nevertheless, she had tagged along because, oddly enough, she always felt a sense of security in his presence. However, now she felt wary, as they were alone in his bleak, black living room.

Neil noticed the wariness in the girl’s eyes now that she was inside his house; she resembled a small mouse cornered by a cat. He had brought her here so she could do something about her appearance, but now that she was in his space and he didn’t feel his usual aversion, he suddenly had another idea that could benefit them both.

"I have my reasons, but first, come with me so you can do something about your appearance before we get to business." he casually remarked as he walked ahead of her, leading her upstairs. Mia was left feeling both curious and uneasy amidst the opulent living room. What reasons could he possibly have for bringing her to his house?
