Chapter 133: Chapter 133: A Master at Trapping His Best Friend!
Arlo Seys ignored the two of them and softly said to the person next to him, "Ariel, switch to the upbeat version of ’Era.’ It’ll help liven up the mood. Since we haven’t touched this stuff in ages, I can’t guarantee the accompaniment will be spot on. A faster rhythm will make it harder for people to notice slight errors."
Ariel Morris nodded, hesitated for a moment, and said in a somewhat deep voice, "Arlo, I’m nervous."
Arlo Seys smiled gently, "It’s okay, the three of us will share the embarrassment with you."
Nico Haynes mocked, "Well, you’re clearly choosing love over friendship. How long has it been since I played the drums? Back in elementary school, I was so into musical instruments that I begged Boss Seys and Second Young Master Sutherland to experiment with these things with me. In seventh grade, I practiced occasionally, but by eighth grade, since the two of them got busy with schoolwork, we never touched these again." At this point, Nico Haynes turned to look proudly at Dawn Sutherland, "Second Young Master, if we mess up the rhythm and lose fans, how should Boss Seys compensate?"
Dawn Sutherland chuckled softly, "Arlo will cover all the meal tickets for a semester."
Nico Haynes: "Hmm, good idea."
Arlo Seys pursed his lips, "I have a good group of brothers, don’t I?"
Nico Haynes sneered, "Are you sure you’re not an expert at setting up your brothers?"
Dawn Sutherland nodded in agreement, smiling.
Ariel Morris chimed in, "Can I be included too? I want a semester’s worth of meal tickets!"
"...Miss Morris, are you helping an outsider drain your boyfriend’s wallet?" Young Master Seys said in a calm voice.
Nico Haynes laughed heartily and patted Ariel Morris on the shoulder, saying boldly, "Sure thing! Let Boss Seys feed you for life, take care of you forever."
Ariel Morris nodded, "I can go with that!" After saying this, she gave Arlo Seys a playful and shameless look.
Arlo Seys pursed his lips, a light smile playing on them, "Well then, Miss Morris, give it your all in this competition."
Dawn Sutherland smiled warmly, "Ariel, go for it! Win this competition, and Arlo will be your meal ticket for a long time. As your brother, I can also benefit by mooching off some meals!"
Ariel Morris made an okay sign, her smile bright and charming.
In the warm autumn breeze, the four of them exchanged smiles and encouraged one another. The beauty of youthful days, sweet happiness, and warm unforgettable moments became the most beautiful memories in their hearts many years later.
Arlo Seys held the guitar, Dawn Sutherland the bass, Nico Haynes was on the drums, and Ariel Morris stood in front, holding the microphone.
Nico Haynes took the microphone in front of him, his voice light and resonant across every corner of Scenic Hill, "A song, ’Era,’ sung by Ariel Morris, with accompaniment by the Scenic Hill Trio. Hope you all enjoy it!"
As the words fell, a tidal wave of applause rose continuously, exhilarating and stirring the heart.
The Scenic Hill Trio, the publicly recognized quality male gods of Scenic Hill. The three gods took the stage together, pushing the competition to its climax.
In the crowd below, Valeria Johnson stared at Ariel Morris at the front of the stage, a cold flash in her eyes.
Ariel Morris, even this couldn’t stop you! Consider yourself lucky!
With everything ready, Ariel Morris held the microphone, hesitated slightly, and softly hummed the tune, "Era..."
Despite having three familiar figures standing behind her, easing some of her nerves, Ariel Morris still altered her voice tone with nervousness as she started singing.
Behind her, Dawn Sutherland and Nico Haynes exchanged a look, worried as they watched Ariel’s back.
Arlo Seys noticed Ariel’s fingers clenched tightly at her side and, hearing her altered tone, realized she was overly anxious. He stepped forward with his guitar and stood beside her, facing the crowded audience together.
Ariel Morris turned to look at the person who had moved to her side, his indifferent yet handsome face reflected in her eyes, making her heart flutter.
