Today’s second update is here~~

"You two mischievous characters," he said with a smile, patting Xuanji on the shoulder, but turned his head and glared at Linglong, "You’re carrying a child and still messing around! Min Yan was looking for you in Maple Forest and couldn’t find you. He was as worried as a spinning top. Why aren’t you hurrying back?"
Linglong snorted and pouted, "Let him worry! Is he going to worry himself to death? All day long, nothing but this and that, it’s enough to drive anyone crazy."
Chu Lei glared at her and said, "Fooling around." Then, turning to Yu Sifeng, he spoke, "Si Feng, follow me, I’ll show you to your guest room."
Yu Sifeng agreed and walked out slowly. Chu Lei deliberately slowed down his pace, seemingly to give them a moment to exchange a few important words. Linglong and the others also stayed behind, out of sight. As Yu Sifeng passed by Xuanji, he suddenly lowered his head to whisper something in her ear, then smoothed out her hair before turning to leave.
Unable to contain herself, Linglong quickly ran out and grabbed her sleeve, asking repeatedly, "What did he say? What did he say?"
Xuanji was puzzled, murmuring, "He said, ’Look forward to the show the day after tomorrow... and be prepared.’"
What did that mean? What show? She was utterly confused. Even Chu Yinghong had no idea what the young man was concocting.
That question kept Xuanji wondering until she went to bed that night, still unable to figure out what it meant. The day after tomorrow was her wedding. What kind of show was he planning for the wedding? Ah, such vexing thoughts made her head hurt. She decided not to ponder it any longer, leaning against the headboard to read for a while, played with the phoenix crown and phoenix robe on the rack, and finally fell into a deep sleep.
In a daze, she felt like she had entered an Illusion Realm, surrounded by indescribable, bizarre lights. She had turned into Luo Hou and Jidu, lying in bed, waiting for Emperor Bai to come and behead her, open her belly, take out her heart, and place it into the Luminous Glass Vase. She was shocked, terrified, and angry, struggling with all her might, yet unable to move at all. In another hazy moment, it felt like she was placed inside the Luminous Glass Vase, unable to move. Emperor Bai’s hands touched the vase as tenderly as one would caress a lover, his gentle voice echoing in her ears: "Become a glass beauty..."
She felt a bitter taste in her throat and nearly burst into a howl of tears.
She was nothing, not a person, not a god, not a Shura; not even an animal. She was just a creature made of glass, wandering outside the six realms, yet she only wished to be the most ordinary mortal.
It seemed as though there were fierce flames burning around her. In the midst of the flames, a figure appeared, covered in blood, with no discernible features, except for a glimmering golden seal on the forehead. The person spoke softly, "I have realized my grave mistake. Once trapped by the inner demons, I committed such sins, which were deserved. But now seeing you safe and happy brings me comfort. The Heavenly Emperor once decreed: For those with sincerity, the mortal world is Heavenly Court. You could say that for those with sincerity, even glass can be flesh and blood. Take care."
After these words, it was as if Shura, fierce and awe-inspiring, took him back into the raging fire, gnawing and devouring him alive. The Shura had a burning gaze, appearing most valiant and, upon closer look, somewhat resembled Luo Hou and Jidu.
Xuanji was utterly shaken, and before she could react, the Shura suddenly looked up at her, waved his large palm, and a blaze of fire rushed towards her. Xuanji, terrified, shivered violently and opened her eyes, only to realize it had all been a dream. Her body was alternating between hot and cold, her clothes drenched in sweat.
Was it a dream? Or not a dream? Was this a scene of Emperor Bai and Luo Hou after their death in hell?
Xuanji got up restlessly; it was dawn, the night had passed by just like that. Her heart beating fast, she couldn’t help but press her hand upon it, feeling moved by Emperor Bai’s words: "For those with sincerity, even glass can be flesh and blood." She leaned back against the headboard, filled with countless emotions.
In the afternoon, Linglong came to talk with her again. Xuanji asked her, "Do you still have nightmares?"
Linglong was taken aback, pondered for a long time before realizing what she was asking. Her face flushed, she whispered, "I don’t have them anymore. You were right; it was because I hadn’t let go, so I kept dreaming about... that person. Now my life is comfortable, and I have a child; I’ve stopped thinking about him."
Seeing that Xuanji didn’t reply, she continued, "Everything passes. No matter how big the problem, at the time, we feel it’s too difficult to overcome. But eventually, one day, gradually, when you suddenly remember it, you realize that you’ve long left that insurmountable barrier behind."
Indeed, as time passes, even the greatest issues are eroded by the tides of time into fragments, leaving no trace behind. We laugh today, cry tomorrow, and the day after feel we can’t go on. Everything is so complicated and yet so mundane. Such is life.
"Who doesn’t have something etched in their heart? But however deep it is etched, one day, looking back, you’ll find you’ve forgotten it," said Linglong in this way.
Xuanji suddenly found herself having a newfound respect for this older sister. Indeed, a sister is a sister; she speaks with such meaningful wisdom.
"Linglong, I’m finding you’re becoming more and more like the wise old man," she said.
The wise old man was a fortune-teller in the town below the mountain, rumored to know everything from astrology and geography to the Qimen Dunjia divination and customs. There was practically nothing he didn’t know, so behind his back, everyone called him the wise old man, which was both affectionate and humorous.
Linglong feigned annoyance and, grabbing Xuanji’s braid, protested, "Nonsense! How do I resemble that old man with a huge black mole?!"
Xuanji quickly tried to dodge with a laugh, claiming, "It’s the temperament! The temperament!"
"What kind of temperament does he have to compare to me!"
While they were playfully scrambling on the bed, Zhong Minyan suddenly called from outside the door as if in deep sorrow, "Linglong! Don’t be reckless! Be careful not to bump or hurt yourself!"
He then hurriedly pushed the door open and rushed in, desperately trying to help her off the bed. Linglong, annoyed, retorted, "Am I just supposed to lie and sleep on this bed? What’s the point of carrying this baby? Do you expect me to lie like a log for ten months?!"
"I’d be glad if you’d just lie down. Damaging the fetal energy is no joking matter. A child’s concerns are minor; hurting your body is the real issue," he replied.
Ever since Zhong Minyan found out he was going to be a father, his rough nature changed considerably. Where he used to inevitably clash with Linglong, he was now completely accommodating, pampering, and coddling her as if she were a delicate pearl in his hand.
Xuanji bit on her handkerchief, just laughing as she said, "Brother-in-law might as well tie Linglong up by his side with a rope; wouldn’t that be more reassuring?"
Zhong Minyan used to get annoyed or not know what to say when he encountered Xuanji, but now that the various knots in his heart had been untangled, his attitude had become much more natural. He glared at her right away and said, "You laugh! When you become a mother, you’ll know the consequences."
Having no way to deal with him, Linglong had no choice but to get out of bed and leave, sighing, "Things have really turned upside down. You’re not old yet, but you’ve become an old lady, nagging even more than my own mother. I’m leaving, I’m leaving, let’s not give my sister-in-law a laugh!"
Zhong Minyan, feeling satisfied, walked out the door supporting his wife to go home and rest. Suddenly remembering something, he turned back and said, "Xuanji, the Sect Leader sent me to ask you, are you really not going to reconsider the matter of the Seven Peaks Elders? Shaoyang Sect is currently taking in new disciples, the old disciples are not yet capable of standing on their own, and there’s no one to bridge the gap. Do you truly plan to stand by and watch?"
Xuanji shook her head: "I don’t want to be an Elder. Who says Shaoyang Sect has no talent? How can the senior brothers of the true and upright generations not stand on their own? It’s our father who believes they lack dedication to martial arts, but when it comes to worldly experience, they are a hundred times, if not more, stronger than me. Being an Elder isn’t about who’s the most powerful."
Zhong Minyan was startled for a moment, then sighed, "I heard that Si Feng is planning to step down as the Palace Master of Li Ze Palace in a few years, and you two are leaving Central Earth to cross the sea to foreign lands. Do you really not plan to return?"
Xuanji laughed: "We are both lazy people. After we’ve had our fun for a while, we’ll surely settle down somewhere and rest. Once we’ve rested, we’ll play again. Who said we won’t come back? This is our home. No matter where I go, I won’t abandon our home."
Zhong Minyan softly said, "That’s best, don’t make the Sect Leader and others worry. But looking at you, I believe once you leave, you won’t come back."
Xuanji was surprised, only to hear him say, "You have always been like this since you were young. Wherever you go, whatever you do, you always make up your own mind. Going to the Netherworld or Kunlun Mountain, you always keep silent. You really should change this habit."
Unexpectedly, though this senior brother often showed annoynace, he was the one who understood her the most in the sect. Indeed, she had truly considered leaving Central Earth, to avoid the past and live a peaceful life with Si Feng. She intended to say reassuring words so her family wouldn’t worry, but Zhong Minyan had seen through her.
She smiled and said, "Since you already know, why bother mentioning it. I will always come back to visit. It’s not like I’ll disappear completely tomorrow."
Zhong Minyan sighed, shook his head, bid her take care, then took Linglong with him back to his own courtyard.
They were no longer the ignorant youths of the past, anxious and fearful over complex emotions. Now they had families of their own, children of their own. The vows once sworn to always be together still echoed, yet today they were parting; the painful and confusing questions of the past had now become fleeting clouds.
To always be together—is truly a child’s words.
Xuanji poured herself a cup of wine, recalling the incidents of her youth: the first time she played the hero in Lutai Town, the first time she saw Si Feng’s true face, the first time her heart stirred for a boy, her first drink, her first... so many firsts, all strung together like beautiful pearls in her memory. Though she could no longer possess the same youthful innocence, she could cherish it.
For the willing heart, even the Luminous Glass can be made flesh and blood—she raised her wine cup to the empty air and drained it in one gulp.
Having so much, yearning for so much, who could say she wasn’t human?
