Chapter 127: Volume 3 The Heartless Xuanji Chapter 34 Betrayal (Part 1)
"Sixth Brother," she called out, chasing after him.
Suddenly, Yu Sifeng shouted from the tree, "Wait! Someone’s coming!"
She turned back in shock, only to see several figures flying swiftly through the sky on their swords, reaching overhead in the blink of an eye. She noticed one of them had a White Iron Ring hanging from his waist, which fluttered horizontally in the wind, filling her heart with alarm.
Zhong Minyan immediately took to the air with his sword, drew his treasure sword, and threw it with force, while Yu Sifeng, not to be outdone, had already released a handful of Iron Marbles.
The group had already sensed the movement behind their heads and brandished their swords in defense. The clashing of metal rang out, followed by someone’s stifled grunt, surely hit by the marbles. Seeing his sword knocked away by them, Zhong Minyan quickly rushed over to wrest it back, and by the time he stood firm, the group had already landed in front of him. One of them, clutching his arm and holding an Iron Marble, furiously demanded, "Who’s using hidden weapons to injure people?!"
Xuanji, recognizing their faces, couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise, prompting the others to also recognize them—it was the Xuanyuan Sect disciples who had come to the Shaoyang Sect four years ago to inquire about the Little Silver Flower.
Yu Sifeng stepped forward and said calmly, "I released the hidden weapons, but I didn’t injure anyone, only demons."
The man, originally furious, suddenly paused upon seeing them and then displayed an embarrassed expression.
Yu Sifeng chuckled, "I just found out today, the mighty Xuanyuan Sect is in league with demons. Truly an eye-opener."
The group appeared even more embarrassed, now showing signs of shame. The man hit by the marbles paused before asking in a hoarse voice, "Why have you come to Buzhou Mountain? This isn’t a place to just come and go as one pleases!"
Yu Sifeng feigned surprise, "Oh? Not allowed to come and go as one pleases? Then how did you manage to get in here?"
The man was at a loss for words, while another spoke sharply, "Why bother talking so much with them?! All the other sects will soon be eradicated by us anyway. Let’s start by killing a few today as a warm-up!"
Upon those words, a metallic clang was heard as both sides drew their treasure swords, facing off against each other. Xuanji, feeling weak and helpless, knew she could not contribute and could only hide behind the others.
The man hesitated for a moment then said, "No... let’s not. They’re just junior disciples. Although I don’t know how they managed to get to Buzhou Mountain... It’s not the right time for a fight; we should go back and see the Hall Master first."
The others seemed to listen to him, reluctantly sheathing their swords and turning to leave, but Yu Sifeng hastily called out, "Wait! First, tell me what exactly is going on with the Xuanyuan Sect!"
The man coldly replied, "It doesn’t concern you! We’ll spare you juniors today, but get out now! Or don’t blame us for being ruthless with our swords."
Ruo Yu suddenly chuckled lightly, "Only a few years have passed, and the Xuanyuan Sect speaks much more boldly. Now, with the support of mighty demons, you truly stand apart from the rest."
The group showed signs of shame once again, clearly dissatisfied with the fact that they were conspiring with demons, but were undoubtedly coerced by someone above them, and thus felt helpless.
Yu Sifeng spoke solemnly, "Rumors have been spreading outside that the Xuanyuan Sect was wiped out overnight by demons, and the Sea Stabilizing Iron Chain buried within your sect was also destroyed... Is this true? Why are you dressed like demons now?"
The man hesitated, not speaking, while someone else said, "Why ask so many questions?! After all, the world operates on the principle of the survival of the fittest. You other sects don’t know how to work for your own benefit, merely boasting the name of a great Cultivation Sect! Remember, only power is truly important! What use is a renowned name if you have no strength?"
Yu Sifeng said, "I see. So the Xuanyuan Sect is indeed conspiring with those demons, right? Unable to defeat them, you knelt and begged for mercy, begging them to provide shelter for you at Buzhou Mountain, becoming their lackeys—happy to receive a bone when they’re pleased, and dragged out for execution when they’re not..."
His words were extremely harsh and cutting, already provoking those people who couldn’t take it any longer, having already attacked. This move was exactly what he had expected, and he immediately turned his head and called out, "Min Yan!"
Zhong Minyan was standing right beside him, and if he exerted his strength to swing his sword now, he would surely make them suffer a setback as his Sword Qi was quite formidable.
However, to his surprise, Zhong Minyan remained still, standing there like a wooden figurine. Under Yu Sifeng’s great shock, those people had already swung their swords to attack, and he had no choice but to draw his sword and fight with them. Fortunately, though these people dressed like demons, they were not very formidable. Their swordsmanship was mediocre, and after a few exchanges, Yu Sifeng and Ruo Yu had pressured them to the point where they could not even hold their swords.
Seeing that they wanted to escape, Yu Sifeng immediately chased after them, grabbed one by the arm, and placed his sword against his neck, loudly ordered, "No one is allowed to escape! Where is the lair of the demons?! Speak quickly!"
Seeing their fellow disciple captured, they had no choice but to stop and said, "You’re so fiercely compelling, if we tell you, and you create trouble there, we too are doomed. You might as well give each of us a swift end with a sword!"
Yu Sifeng hadn’t expected them to say this, and was momentarily stunned. Zhong Minyan, who had been standing aside, suddenly spoke, "We won’t create trouble. Actually, listening to your words, I find some sense in them. Indeed, it’s survival of the fittest, the Xuanyuan Sect knows to adapt with the times and has cooperated with the demons. I just want to ask you, are those demons truly as formidable as you’ve described?"
"Min Yan!" Yu Sifeng stared at him incredulously, as if he did not recognize him.
Zhong Minyan’s expression remained indifferent, paying him no heed. The captured man, hearing him speak thus, seemed somewhat shaken and then said, "Of course they are powerful... Not to mention the Xuanyuan Sect, even if your entire Shaoyang banded together to oppose an external threat, you couldn’t overcome them. Mortals are naturally the weakest beings among all creatures, to fight against the heavens and the earth... that’s merely the boastful talk of cultivators..."
Everyone had already suffered at the hands of those demons, but hearing him say this still inevitably chilled their hearts.
Zhong Minyan replied calmly, "No wonder the Xuanyuan Sect chose to compromise. A true man knows when to bow and when to stand tall, which is also admirable. In that case, lead us to your headquarters. I have some questions for your Hall Master."
The man looked at him suspiciously, as if trying to discern something from his face, but Zhong Minyan exhibited no expression. After a moment, the man reluctantly said, "Luring the enemy deep inside... I dare not do such a thing. If you force us, you might as well kill me first!"
The Deputy Hall Master was always one to relish tormenting people, and falling into his hands would mean neither living nor dying as one wished; thus, dying by these people’s swords might still be a relief.
Zhong Minyan smiled and said, "What do you mean by luring the enemy? Am I an enemy? What you said makes sense, and I want to meet your Hall Master. What harm is there in that? Actually, even if you don’t tell us, I know your headquarters is nearby. I’m asking now to give you some respect."
Seeing his cryptic speech, Yu Sifeng was secretly shocked, but then it dawned on him that Zhong Minyan was unwilling to force them and was now luring these people to lead them to the headquarters to avoid unnecessary slaughter. He had not expected Zhong Minyan to come up with such a stratagem, secretly praising him in his heart while openly smiling and saying, "Exactly, if we meet your Hall Master and have a pleasant chat, what’s wrong with joining? If we become comrades later, why would the Hall Master punish you?"
Those people, seeing their drastically different attitude before and after, were full of suspicions. However, facing the formidable duo, they were no match and decided it might be better to follow their plan and lead them to the headquarters to let the demons deal with them.
At that thought, they nodded, "Fine, we can bring you there. But let me clarify, the Deputy Hall Master has a terrible temper. Be careful with your words, if you provoke him, no one can expect to live."
Zhong Minyan laughed, "Of course. Si Feng, please let go of this elder brother, and trouble him to lead the way for us."
Yu Sifeng immediately sheathed his sword and apologetically said with a cupped fist, "Please forgive our offense!"
The man rubbed his sore arm and looked back at them doubtfully, whispering, "Why the rush to court death?"
Zhong Minyan shook his head and said, "Brother, you are mistaken. We have our reasons for wanting to see the Hall Master, and I believe these reasons need not be explained to you, right?"
The man didn’t say another word, walked ahead, and then turned back to wave, "Then please follow me." (To be continued. To find out what happens next, please visit www.qidian.com. More Chapters are available there, support the author, support genuine reading!)
