Love In Disguise: Rebirth of the Heiress -
Chapter 94
Chapter 94: Chapter 94
Jessica clenched her fists so hard her nails dug into her palms, it was enough to draw blood, her teeyhs clenched, her heels slapping against the floor.
The hallway blurred as she stomped down it, rage boiling under her skin.
Kiara.
That smug smile, the way she sat there unfazed, it made Jessica’s blood burn.
"Thinks she’s untouchable," she muttered to herself, her heels clicking sharply against the floor. "I’ll show her. She would regret it."
Her eyes darted around as she approached Gabriel’s office.
Without bothering to knock, she flung the door open and stepped inside. Gabriel looked up from his desk, startled.
"Jessica?" His brows furrowed. "What’s wrong?"
The tears were ready before she even spoke, slipping effortlessly into her role. Her voice quivered as she sniffled, wiping at her eyes.
"Gabriel..."
He sighed, leaning back in his chair. "What happened now?"
"It’s Kiara." Her voice cracked just right, enough "She’s—she’s just so cruel. I don’t understand how someone can change so much. She was so sweet and useful now she is just..."
Gabriel’s face darkened instantly at the mention of Kiara’s name. "She is crazy. What did she do to you? Did she hurt you?"
Jessica stepped closer, letting her shoulders slump for effect. "She humiliated me, Gabriel. She hinted at things she shouldn’t know... things about me."
Gabriel scowled. "What things?"
Jessica hesitated, biting her lip as if debating whether to tell him. "It’s nothing," she whispered, her tone fragile. "I just... I thought she was my friend."
Gabriel’s jaw tightened, his voice low and venomous. "She’s not your friend, Jessica. She’s a snake. I should’ve seen it sooner."
Jessica nodded, feigning agreement, though her tears still flowed. "And she just keeps getting away with it, Gabriel. First you, then your mom, she’s out of control. What’s she trying to prove?"
The mention of his mother made Gabriel’s face twist with anger.
He slammed his palm against the desk, making Jessica flinch.
"She threw scalding coffee on my mother, Jessica!" His voice rose, frustration boiling over. "Do you know how humiliating that was for me? The police suddenly turned a blind ear to it, not caring. Gosh I hate her. We dated for 6 years. Planned on marrying her. Now...my own fiancée—"
Jessica’s lip curled ever so slightly. "Ex-fiancée," she corrected softly, before quickly looking down again. "I just don’t get it. Why hasn’t anyone put her in her place?"
Gabriel stood abruptly, pacing the room like a caged animal. "I hate her. I hate her for everything she’s done to me. To us. She has no right to act so high and mighty when she’s nothing. Without the williams family she is useless. She should have been happy I even had her time."
Jessica stepped closer, letting her voice drop into a conspiratorial whisper. "Then let’s bring her down, Gabriel. Together."
He stopped, staring at her. "What are you saying?"
She looked up at him with watery eyes, her voice steady despite the tears. "I’m saying she needs to learn that actions have consequences. She thinks she’s untouchable—let’s remind her she isn’t."
Gabriel’s lips twitched, his eyes narrowing as he considered her words. "How?"
Jessica hesitated, letting the silence stretch before murmuring, "We’ll figure it out. We’ll hit her where it hurts. Maybe at work. Maybe..." She tilted her head, watching Gabriel closely. "With something more personal."
Gabriel ran a hand through his hair, his anger simmering just below the surface. "She deserves it. After everything she’s done, she deserves whatever comes to her."
Jessica took another step forward, her voice soft and coaxing. "Then let’s do it, Gabriel. For you. For us."
He turned to look at her, his expression slowly softening as he took in her tear-streaked face. "You’re right," he said finally, his voice quieter now. "She needs to pay."
Jessica smiled faintly, relief flickering across her face as she stepped closer again, reaching out to touch his arm. "You’re not alone in this. I’ll help you. I promise."
Gabriel looked down at her hand, his gaze lingering before it flicked back to her face. Something in his expression shifted, and before Jessica knew it, his hand was sliding around her waist, pulling her closer.
"Jessica..." he murmured, his voice softer, almost hesitant.
She tilted her head up, her lips parting just slightly. "We’ll take care of it, Gabriel," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
She gave him the look, looking at him through her eyelashes. He gulped.
His eyes moving to her lips, those glossy lips called to him.
He gulped, leaning forward slightly.
That alone made Jessica heart sore high.
And then his lips were on hers, hard and desperate.
Jessica melted into the kiss, her arms looping around his neck as if to ground him there. This was it.
This was what she needed, him choosing her.
The kiss deepened, their bodies pressed together, until—
The door creaked open.
"Oh... oh."
The voice jolted them apart. Gabriel stumbled back, eyes wide, while Jessica whipped her head toward the doorway.
A young intern stood frozen in the entrance, a stack of files clutched tightly to her chest. Her face flushed crimson as her eyes darted between the two of them.
"I—I’m so sorry!" the intern stammered, backpedaling toward the hallway. "I didn’t mean to interrupt—"
"Get out!" Gabriel barked, his voice sharp.
The intern yelped, nearly tripping over herself as she turned and fled, the door slamming shut behind her.
Jessica wiped her lips quickly, smoothing her hair as she turned back to Gabriel. "Well," she said, trying to sound casual despite the flush on her cheeks, "that’s unfortunate."
Gabriel muttered something under his breath, dragging a hand down his face. "She won’t say anything. It’s fine."
Jessica tilted her head, her smile sly. "Still, you might want to handle it. We wouldn’t want any rumors, would we?"
He shot her a look, but Jessica just smirked, stepping closer to adjust his rumpled tie. "Focus on Kiara, Gabriel," she murmured softly. "She’s the real problem here."
Gabriel’s eyes darkened, the fire of his earlier rage returning. "She’ll get what’s coming to her. I’ll make sure of it."
Jessica smiled sweetly, patting his chest before stepping back. "Good. I knew I could count on you."
As she turned to leave, she couldn’t help but let her smirk grow wider. Everything was finally falling into place.
Watch out, Kiara, she thought. You won’t know what hit you.
