Chapter 70: Chapter 71 Joint Performance

After Iris Harris left, a shadow emerged in the corner of the hospital corridor.

Viola Harris, who was supposed to be lying in the hospital bed, looked coldly at the departing figure of Iris. She slightly bit her lip and glanced again at the doctor’s office that Iris had exited, her delicate eyebrows gradually knitting together.

Brandan Hyde hadn’t come today, so she took the opportunity to sneak out for a stroll and unexpectedly ran into Iris.

Following Iris to this place, she realized that something was seriously wrong.

What would make Iris come to the obstetrics and gynecology department?

Could it be that...

Recalling how she had stood at the office door gently stroking her lower abdomen, Viola’s beautiful face became increasingly grave.

Whatever she had thought of, she turned around and hurried back to the ward.

Inside the ward, Mrs. Harris was watching TV. Seeing her daughter rushing back, she quickly called out to her, "Slow down, Viola! What if Brandan sees you?"

As if nothing had happened, Viola walked in and smiled at her mother’s words, "Brandan isn’t coming today."

"But still, be careful," Mrs. Harris walked to the door, glanced around, and closed it, "What will we do if he finds out your leg isn’t actually broken?"

Viola snorted but said nothing, merely sitting on the bed.

The dramatic attempt was, of course, fake.

It was a well-rehearsed play put on by her and Mrs. Harris.

When Brandan called to break up, she knew it was serious and quickly discussed it with her mother, who then suggested going all out and faking a suicide attempt for love. This way, Brandan would become increasingly disgusted with Iris, plus it would show Viola’s deep feelings for him.

And the effect was indeed excellent. During her month and a half in the hospital, Brandan visited her almost every day.

The attending doctor that day had also been bribed by her mother in advance. She did have many wounds on her body, but they were only minor scrapes. Though they looked frightening, after a few days, they would scab over.

Viola lay back on the bed, and thinking of Iris, couldn’t help but say to Mrs. Harris, "Mom, I just saw that Iris character coming out of the obstetrics and gynecology department... Do you think she could be pregnant?"

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Harris turned to look at her daughter, "What?"

"I also find it incredible," Viola said, frowning, "Logically, she shouldn’t be able to be pregnant, right?"

"It’s not that she can’t get pregnant, just that the probability is low, almost zero," Mrs. Harris said, her brows also furrowing tightly, then asked, "Did you really see her coming out of the department?"

"Could it be fake? I’d recognize that face even if it turned to ashes!" Viola’s tone towards Iris was full of disdain and contempt. Although she had been doted on all her life, at school, it was Iris who stole the show.

She was more attractive than Iris, but Iris was better academically. In the eyes of the teachers, Iris was more favored.

And if that wasn’t enough, Iris was more popular with people.

Iris may not realize it, but Viola knew that those boys at school had stars in their eyes when they saw her, but they only dared to watch Iris from afar.

In school, Iris had already been famous as an ice-cold beauty.

This made Viola, who had never looked up to Iris, very indignant.
