Chapter 62: Chapter 63: She did something irreparable and unforgivable

Iris Harris gently held the cold fingertips and whispered, "I never expected Viola to..."

"Iris Harris, please don’t show up in front of her during this period." His tone was cold and distant, "She just woke up, and I don’t want her to be stimulated again."

"And also, stop pretending to be kind by bringing food, it’s not needed, understand?" Brandan Hyde looked at her, his tone growing colder, "If I ever see you in her ward again, don’t blame me for being unkind to you!"

"......"

Iris Harris couldn’t say a word.

She looked at the impatience and annoyance in the man’s eyes, and after a long while, slightly nodded, "I understand..."

She turned around and almost fled.

An indescribable sense of shame and guilt made her wish she could disappear from the hospital.

She knew that Brandan was right; Viola Harris was indeed in this condition because of her, and he had every reason to hate her... After all, he loved Viola Harris...

Iris Harris leaned on the steering wheel, taking deep breaths.

Maybe she really was a sinner.

Or maybe...

She should give him up as well...

To fulfill him and Viola Harris.

As she thought of this, Iris Harris looked somewhat dazedly ahead.

Should she end her ten-year entanglement with Brandan Hyde?

She didn’t know what to do, only feeling so uncomfortable that she almost couldn’t breathe.

***********************

In the following days, Brandan Hyde stayed at the hospital with Viola Harris.

And except for preparing for the bone marrow match for Brandan, when she would accidentally run into him in his attending doctor’s office, she had no other chance to meet him.

Iris Harris thought, Brandan Hyde probably truly hated her.

Lady Hyde kept comforting her, telling her it would slowly get better, but Iris Harris knew that unless Brandan Hyde remembered the past from ten years ago, they would never have a chance to reconcile in this lifetime.

She had done something irremediable and unforgivable.

She had stomped heavily on Brandan Hyde’s pride.

Such a proud person, he could submit to his mother and do things he didn’t want to do, but he would never, for saving his life, become kindly disposed towards her.

Thinking of this, Iris Harris always felt the future was bleak, with endless darkness ahead.

Brandan Hyde’s surgery would soon begin under the experts’ plan; it was scheduled for nine o’clock tomorrow morning.

He had been receiving treatment and observation at the hospital lately, and Lady Hyde took Iris Harris back home, letting her stay with her during this time.

She really was like her own mother, caring for her and loving her.

Iris Harris was very grateful for her kindness.

After having dinner with Lady Hyde, Iris Harris went upstairs by herself. The unfamiliar bedroom always carried a bit of loneliness. Holding her legs, Iris Harris looked at the night sky. The nighttime was very quiet, allowing her heart to calm down.

The phone under the pillow buzzed, and Iris Harris picked it up to see that it was a call from William Moore. Seeing this name brought a touch of pure joy to her heart.

Meeting William Moore was perhaps her second greatest stroke of luck after meeting Brandan Hyde.

He was like a brother to her, making her feel at ease whenever she saw him.

"Hello? Xavier, what’s up?"

Iris Harris answered the phone.

"It’s been a long time since we’ve been in touch," William Moore’s elegant voice came through the phone, "I miss you a bit."

Iris Harris leaned against the bed, listening to his words, and began to chuckle softly.

"I’ve been a bit busy lately..." Iris Harris hesitated for a moment before adding, "Xavier, I’ve registered my marriage with Brandan."
