Chapter 59: Chapter 60 Iris Harris, why weren’t you the one who died?

Iris Harris had not yet returned to the company when she received a call from Lady Hyde.

On the phone, Lady Hyde’s voice was frantic: "Iris, it’s terrible, Viola has attempted suicide!"

Sitting in the taxi, Iris Harris’s hand shook, and her phone almost slipped from her palm, "What?!"

"She jumped from the third floor and has been taken to the hospital..." Lady Hyde was crying uncontrollably, "How could this happen..."

"I understand."

Iris Harris comforted Lady Hyde for a bit, told the driver to change direction, and headed towards the City Central Hospital.

On the way there, her mind was a complete blank.

She never expected that the delicate Viola Harris would do such a thing for Brandan Hyde.

She actually tried to kill herself!

After getting out of the car, Iris Harris hurried into the hospital. When the wind blew, she realized she was covered in a cold sweat.

Viola Harris had already been taken to the emergency room. When Iris Harris arrived, Brandan Hyde was already there too. He leaned against the wall, arms crossed, head slightly bowed, his face hidden in the shadows, making his expression unclear.

Iris Harris’s heart was pounding; she was somewhat afraid to look at him. Lady Hyde saw her approaching, and with red eyes, came over and held her hand.

Iris Harris let Lady Hyde lean on her, raised her head to look at Mr. and Mrs. Harris in the distance. Both appeared haggard and pale, embracing each other for comfort.

She pursed her lips slightly, said nothing more, but felt an increasing chill inside.

The surgery lasted until the evening. Lady Hyde, being frail, soon tired, so Iris Harris helped her to the lounge to rest.

"Iris..."

Lady Hyde sat on the sofa, looking at Iris Harris, and softly asked, "What will you do now?"

Iris Harris was slightly stunned. She slowly raised her head to look at her, then shook her head somewhat blankly, "I don’t know either, auntie."

Lady Hyde opened her mouth as if wanting to say more, but then she shook her head and sighed lightly.

She raised her hand and gently stroked Iris Harris’s face, as if feeling sorry for her.

Iris Harris pressed her face into Lady Hyde’s palm; her fingers were warm, bringing a touch of warmth to Iris’s cold body. She really liked her; Lady Hyde was the gentlest and kindest woman she had ever known in this world.

Even someone like her could still receive her tenderness and care.

"Auntie, I’ll be going out now, you should rest well."

Lady Hyde responded softly and nodded.

Iris Harris gently opened the door and stepped out of the lounge.

She felt somewhat weary inside. After walking a few steps, she caught a whiff of smoke. She turned her head and saw a tall, slender figure leaning against the wall, a man with a cigarette in his hand, his cold, sinister eyes were fixed on her.

Iris Harris’s steps halted. She paused for a moment, then softly called out, "Brandan..."

Brandan Hyde slowly approached, standing in front of her, looking down at her.

His eyes were incredibly cold, cold enough to freeze her soul.

"Iris Harris, if she dies, it’s your fault."

His voice was low and slow, like the coldest wind in winter.

Iris Harris stood there, feeling her fingertips slightly trembling. She clutched her fingers tightly, without saying a word.

Brandan Hyde looked at her coldly. Iris Harris thought that at that moment, he must really hate her.

"Iris Harris, why wasn’t it you who died?"
