Chapter 272: Chapter 272 I can feel it here
Not long after a simple day passed, Stella received the notice of notification from the court, a letter of authorization, and a letter of evidence.
Did it imply that she was about to start a lawsuit?
Could it be that the right to Adrian’s custody might not belong to her?
She dared not imagine such a scene.
Tristan came to visit her, informing her about how he had assisted her in hiring a lawyer. She had an advantage in all aspects. There was a rule in the law that after staying with one parent for some time, a drastic shift in the living environment was not beneficial toward the development of the child, not to mention how the parent with no other children held the upper hand in comparison to the parent raising other children.
Deep down, Stella knew that she was in an advantageous position.
She had no other children, plus she had been staying with Adrian all the while, RK had never stayed under the same roof as Adrian, not to mention how he had Alia, his beloved daughter. Logically speaking, the court would not hand over custody to RK.
Although that was the case, Stella felt uneasy nonetheless.
She loved Adrian dearly, deeply engraved in her bones. It was to the point where she wouldn’t be able to survive without Adrian. She could not leave Adrian. She had lived with Adrian for years, so why should he leave her side as a result of the summons from the court? Why did she have to return to X City? Why did she have to run into RK? Why did RK have to found about Adrian’s existence?
She shouldn’t have brought Adrian back. She should have obediently stayed in France with Adrian and not returned for the rest of her life until she died of old age, illness, and death so that the secret would have been buried deep within her heart.
The lawyer hired by Tristan is professional. Others claimed that he had a high reputation in the industry. He was Tristan’s classmate in college, rumored to be the outstanding talent of the law faculty. He analyzed Stella’s chance of winning the lawsuit, finding that Stella’s chance of winning was relatively high.
Stella’s uneasiness was finally relieved.
Perhaps it was the mother and son bond that allowed Adrian to sense something amiss.
During dinner, Adrian briefly hesitated before he couldn’t stop himself from asking.
"Darling, are you going to start a lawsuit with the bad uncle?"
Right then, Stella was cleaning Adrian’s room. Upon hearing the question, her actions came to an abrupt pause before she returned to normal.
"Why would you ask such a question, Adrian?" Stella tried her best to sound calm, for fear of Adrian noticing her uneasiness and worry.
"I can feel it here. I can feel that you are in a bad mood." The little fellow rubbed his chest in a pretentious manner.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Stella mocked with a smile. "You are so eloquent. You will fool lots of girls with your sweet talk."
"How could it be?" Adrian’s face was flushed as he responded shyly, "I Adrian, only love you, Darling!"
Stella chuckled as she walked over to Adrian and settled down beside him.
"Adrian, if you lived with the bad uncle, you have Alia to play with you every day, enjoy plenty of delicious snacks, have countless cartoons available for you at any time, and tons of games, enjoy the treatment of being sent to school in a nice car, but without me being by your side, would you want that?"
Stella felt that it was better for Adrian to know a little about it. Else, if she lost the lawsuit, she was afraid that Adrian might not be able to accept the sudden decision made.
"No, no, I don’t want any of it!" Adrian started throwing a fit as he lay on the bed, making a scene.
Stella had no choice but to hold Adrian and coax him into her arms.
"No, no, it won’t happen. I won’t give you over to the bad uncle. You will stay with me forever."
"Darling, Darling, I won’t eat snacks anymore. I won’t play games, and I won’t attend school by car. I don’t want to play with Alia either. Please don’t leave me, will you?" Adrian was crying so hard that his face was covered with tears and snot. Stella had no choice but to allow him to hold her as he pleased.
After waiting for some time, Adrian gradually fell asleep. His tiny nose twitched with sobs as if he had been wronged. Stella sighed, wiped the tears on his face, and tugged him in with a quilt before staying on the sofa to keep him company.
Back then, it was the biggest accident in her life to marry a member of the Kingston family on behalf of others. She remembered how hot that summer had been which led to her feeling dizzy and unreal. By the time she completed her private tutoring and returned home, she realized that the entire family was sitting on the sofa in silence. The atmosphere was oddly strange.
Sophia was in a critical period, experiencing drastic mood swings. To prevent accidents or her taking her own life, they should most likely be staying on guard at the hospital. It was not normal for David and Isabella to be staying at home in such a manner.
Stella could tell that there was something wrong with the atmosphere. Just as she was about to turn around and enter the room, David called out to her.
"Stella, wait a moment!"
She sat obediently as she told, but in her heart, she was alarmed.
She was doomed.
Back then, she had such an intuition, and to her bewilderment, it was as she had expected.
