Chapter 246: The Summoner’s Companions
Chapter 246: The Summoner’s Companions
After conversing with Abraham, Lyan made his way to the underground basement, the secret training hall where the girls learned self-defense and honed their fighting skills. It was late at night, and the hall was completely silent.
Using his magic, Lyan locked the door behind him, ensuring their privacy. He walked to the center of the training hall and began summoning his magic beasts and monsters.
The first creature to appear was a massive scorpion, the size of Lyan’s leg, with a pair of butterfly wings. This was one of the offspring from his passionate session with Raine.
[Seltas Queen
A massive, beetle-like Nopteron with a thick, armor-like exoskeleton. The Seltas Queen is the primary matriarch of the Seltas swarm, characterized by her large, metallic wings and numerous legs. The Queen commands her drones with precision, utilizing them as shields and weapons to protect her hive. Her enormous size and strength make her a formidable opponent.
She possesses the unique ability to attract and command Seltas, binding them to her will. This symbiotic relationship allows her to enhance her combat effectiveness, using her drones for additional attacks and protection. Her thick exoskeleton provides substantial defense, and her claws are powerful weapons capable of inflicting severe damage.
The Seltas Queen’s dominance in the hive is undisputed, and her strategic use of drones makes her a challenging adversary in any encounter. The Seltas are known for their deadly poisons capable of poisoning even the basilisk.

"Wow, it’s strong," Lyan muttered in excitement. "Being a queen like the acid ant queen, it has a lot of potential uses."
Next, he turned his attention to Ravia’s monster child.
[Shadow Nymm
A shadow creature that manifests as a black cat roughly the size of a female lioness. The Shadow Nymm collectively pulls information from all black cats in a vast spy network. Shadow Nymm finds it offensive if anyone implies black cats are bad luck and occasionally appears to punish those who would inflict animal cruelty. "The Shadow Nymm is wonderful as well!" Lyan said, tickling the Shadow Nymm. The creature tilted her head, dark mana gushing out to create twelve different shadow servants: four shadow demons, four shadow knights, and four shadow tigers. They bowed their heads to Lyan.
"Great. Welcome on board," Lyan smiled, and the shadow servants nodded in response.
"Looks like the grimoire got improved without me knowing," Lyan uttered as he saw the part where there were abilities mentioned that didn’t appear before.
"The names of the two of you will wait. Let’s have your mothers name the two of you," Lyan said, petting their heads.
Looking around, Lyan noticed the impressive array of creatures gathered before him. "Now, I guess everyone’s here," he remarked, feeling a sense of pride at the number and variety of his magic beasts and monsters. He felt ready for the challenges ahead, confident in the strength and loyalty of his companions.
Lyan stood in the center of the underground training hall, surrounded by his summoned monsters and magic beasts, feeling a surge of pride and determination. He gazed at each of his companions, recognizing the crucial roles they would play when he had his domain and in war. Hobu The Shadow Goblin Lord is a cunning leader with great skills in dark magic and guerrilla tactics, would spearhead their stealth operations, gathering intelligence and disrupting enemy plans. The Papilio Slime and Galewing Butterfly, with their unique abilities, would handle reconnaissance and support, using their adaptability and wind manipulation to aid their forces and confuse the enemy.
The Rock Golem and Ice Golem, towering and sturdy, would form the front line of defense, protecting key locations and holding off any attacks. Deadlight and his army could use it as an independent army, and the Moonlight Butterfly (Lv. 45) with its spectral and lunar powers, would manage magical defenses and offenses, countering any magical threats. The Acid Ant Queen, with her corrosive abilities and command over her soldiers, would fortify their defenses and deter attackers especially in walls. The younger creatures like the Magma Bear, Fey Mammoth, and Arcane Retriever, Shadow Nymm, and Seltas Queen stood ready to support where needed.
Lyan also acknowledged the importance of the Winter Wolf Alpha and Fenris, who could lead the charge, using their pack tactics to outmaneuver the enemy. Accompanied by the Gargoyle, the newly summoned stone guardian with its stone beasts for surveillance and stealth, and the formidable presence of Hobu’s Shadow Servants and his 800 Skeleton Army—comprising 24 Goblin Champion Skeletons, 226 Hobgoblin Skeletons, 550 Goblin Skeleton Army, 4 Shadow Knights, 4 Shadow Demons, and 4 Shadow Tigers—In addition, the presence of the Shadow Nymm, a mystical black cat capable of commanding shadow servants and gathering vast intelligence, and the Seltas Queen, a formidable insectoid matriarch with powerful drones at her command, added significant strategic depth to their forces. The Shadow Nymm would provide crucial intelligence and espionage capabilities, while the Seltas Queen and her drones would enhance their combat effectiveness with their potent poisons and coordinated attacks.
"And wow! You guys have become a big family!" Lyan exclaimed as he took in the sight of the numerous acid ants.
There were now 30 acid ant soldiers and 80 acid ant workers. Since his journey to the north, all the monsters and magic beasts they encountered were stored in the grimoire’s space for his companions to consume, which had significantly boosted their strength. Lyan recalled that the Acid Ant Queen had been aiding the valkyries on their missions to eradicate bandit groups and slavery rings, which had helped increase her level substantially. It seemed she allowed her soldiers and workers to feed well, as their size had noticeably increased. The sheer number of ants would play a crucial role in both defense and offense in his future territory.
(It actually already started making a huge colony inside here with her workers) Hestia’s voice echoed in his mind.
"Really?" Lyan responded, excitement creeping into his voice. "I would like to see it later."
(What are you getting excited about...) Hestia sighed.
Lyan felt a wave of satisfaction and warmth as he observed his gathered monsters. It hadn’t been half a year since he first arrived in this world, yet he had already forged meaningful connections and had all his grimoire companions before him.
(Yeah. You mean lots of holes you’ve invaded,) Griselda remarked sarcastically.
Ignoring Griselda’s comment, Lyan watched as his monsters gathered around him, each one snuggling up to him. The Magma Bear, Shadow Goblin Lord, Papilio Slime, Galewing Butterfly, Rock Golem, Ice Golem, Deadlight, Moonlight Butterfly, Acid Ant Queen, Fey Mammoth, Arcane Retriever, Winter Wolf Alpha, Fenris, and Gargoyle—all his companions were present. Grimclaw, the Deadlight, stood a bit apart, watching enviously but not joining in.
This would be the start of something significant. As a potential noble, Lyan pondered if it would be wise to reveal his strength as a summoner. Keeping it a secret might put the girls, who had their monsters with them, at risk of being suspected as summoners themselves, making them targets for unwanted factions.
"Anyways, I guess we’ve never fought together as a big family before, right? This will be the first time. Let’s have some training and see all your abilities in action," Lyan declared.
The monsters responded eagerly, their loyalty and readiness to support him evident in their eyes. Lyan knew that with their combined strength, they could overcome any challenge that lay ahead. This training session would not only solidify their bond but also prepare them for the battles to come.
