Chapter 220: Back to The Real World

"I’m back... huh..." Lyan muttered to himself, scratching his head as he eyed his still-steaming cup of coffee. The gargoyle beside him, chomping happily on bread, seemed entirely unperturbed by his return.

"Man, that was... Something," Lyan continued, shaking his head in disbelief. "Never thought I’d run into ’them’ again after kicking Tiamat’s butt."

He took a sip of his coffee, making a face at its bitter taste. "Well, if anything can wake me up, it’s that."

But as he sat there, lost in thought, he couldn’t shake the feeling that there was still so much left to figure out. "Seems like there’s always more stuff to uncover and mull over," he muttered, running a hand through his hair.

He glanced at the gargoyle again, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. "You’re taking this all in stride, huh? Wish I could be as chill as you."

With a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, trying to make sense of the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside him. But soon enough, a smirk tugged at his lips. "Well, I guess this spices things up a bit," he said to the empty room, preparing himself for whatever came next.

"Oh! But first, let’s check out the reward from that quest!" (Lyan)

With a mere thought, a blue screen materialized before Lyan, displaying his quest completion reward.

"Oh, this looks interesting..." (Lyan)

The screen announced the completion of the hidden quest:

[Congratulations on completing the hidden quest! Your reward: -Gryphon-winged sword]

"Huh... Gryphon-winged sword... Wonder what it can do," (Lyan)

[Gryphon-winged sword

Description: Crafted from a rare alloy, this majestic weapon is adorned with intricate engravings depicting the fierce grace of gryphons in flight. Its silver blade gleams, while its hilt is wrapped in supple leather etched with ancient runes.

-Flight Enhancement: Grants enhanced agility and speed, allowing the wielder to dodge attacks more effectively and strike with precision.

-Wind Slash: Unleashes gusts of wind that slice through enemies with razor-sharp precision, capable of piercing through armor and defenses.

-Gryphon’s Fury: Temporarily imbues the wielder with strength and courage, enhancing combat abilities for a limited time.]

"Wow... This is quite the haul!" Lyan exclaimed, a grin spreading across his face as he absorbed the details.

Filled with excitement, Lyan couldn’t wait to test out his new Gryphon-winged sword. The mere description had him envisioning the sleek silver blade slicing through the air effortlessly.

"Looks like I’ve got myself quite the weapon," Lyan remarked to the gargoyle, who simply blinked back at him.

Without further ado, Lyan reached for the sword’s hilt, feeling its weight in his hand. It felt sturdy and balanced, instilling him with a sense of confidence.

With practiced ease, he drew the sword from its sheath, admiring the way it caught the light. The engravings on the blade danced in the sunlight, casting intricate patterns across the table.

"Let’s see what you can do," Lyan muttered, determination flickering in his eyes as he readied himself to test the sword’s abilities.

With a flick of his wrist, Lyan unleashed a flurry of strikes, the sword cutting through the air with graceful precision. With each swing, he felt the sword respond to his commands as if it were an extension of himself.

"Flight Enhancement, huh?" Lyan thought, feeling a surge of energy coursing through his veins. With newfound agility, he darted around the room, moving with the speed and grace of a gryphon in flight.

As he swung the sword, gusts of wind sliced through the air, cutting through obstacles with ease. The Wind Slash ability surpassed his expectations, slicing through objects as if they were nothing.

But it was Gryphon’s Fury that truly impressed Lyan. With a whispered command, he tapped into the spirit of the gryphon, feeling its strength surge through him. With renewed vigor, he pressed his attack, striking with precision and power.

As the last echoes of Gryphon’s Fury faded away, Lyan stood panting, exhilaration coursing through his veins. But there was a fire in his eyes, a determination that burned brighter than ever.

"Looks like we’re in business. The magic glaive is not suitable to be used in a cramped place, so this would be handy," Lyan said with a grin, sheathing the Gryphon-winged sword at his side. "Time to see what other adventures await us."

With the thrill of exploring his new sword’s capabilities still fresh in his mind, Lyan sheathed his Gryphon-winged sword and stepped out of the room. He made his way to the city’s general training hall, originally designated as the capital’s knights training ground. However, with the impending tournament hosted by the empire, the hall had become a hub for warriors from far and wide who needed a place to warm up. This decision was made to prevent any conflicts from arising within the city due to the influx of warriors

"Hmm? Quite the crowd today," Lyan remarked, observing the bustling city as a throng of people congregated before him. Some hurried off in a certain direction while others lingered, listening intently to someone speaking in the center.

(Swords at their hips, bows slung over their shoulders, and a few clad in leather armor. Looks like a gathering of warriors, alright...) (Lyan)

"Hey, you lot, come check this out! There’s a brawl happening at the training ground, and it’s wild!"

"What’s going on over there?"

"It’s a showdown between a Count’s son and a female warrior with pink hair! High-level battle with magic flying left and right!"

The words of the bystanders caught Lyan’s attention, his eyebrows raising at the mention of a "pink-haired female warrior."

"Don’t tell me..." (Lyan)

Intrigued by the scene unfolding before him, Lyan quickened his pace, squeezing through the crowd until he reached the outskirts of the training ground. There, he beheld a fierce confrontation taking place.

At the heart of the arena stood a young man with aristocratic features, facing off against a pink-haired warrior whose resolve was evident in her steely gaze. The Count’s son brandished a rapier crackling with magic, while the pink-haired warrior wielded a seemingly ordinary sword infused with her mana.

"Ah, so that’s Wilhelmina," Lyan remarked with a wry smile as he recognized the pink-haired warrior. His attention, however, was soon drawn to Solia and the other former-slave girls, including Tesha, who watched the battle unfold with rapt attention.

"What in the world are they up to..." Lyan muttered under his breath, perplexed by their presence.

As he tried to make sense of the situation, snippets of conversation from the onlookers nearby caught his ear.

"Hey, isn’t that Rale the Rainstorm?"

"Indeed. I’ve heard of him. A rising star among the new imperial knights, isn’t he?"

"Yes, indeed. I heard he received special training from the imperial knights’ seniors since childhood."

"But who’s he fighting against?"

"I’m not sure, but she’s formidable!"

"Absolutely! Sir Rale is known for his mastery of flame mana, but she seems to be holding her own with her own elemental abilities!"

"Hmm... So she’s facing off against quite the renowned opponent," Lyan mused, taking in the scene before him.

Wilhelmina lunged forward, her pink hair trailing behind her like a flaming comet as she surged with unmatched speed. Her boots left scorched imprints on the ground as she utilized her fire mana to propel herself, closing the distance between her and Rale in the blink of an eye.

With a fierce cry, she swung her sword in a wide arc, aiming for Rale’s exposed flank. But Rale was quick to react, his instincts honed from years of training as he deftly sidestepped her attack with fluid grace. He danced away from her blade with elegant precision, his movements almost too quick for the eye to follow.

Wilhelmina’s lips curled into a smirk as she saw her attack evade. She expected nothing less from a strong person from the empire, he must be a renowned swordsman known for his agility and speed in battle. But she wasn’t about to let up so easily.

Adjusting her stance, Wilhelmina planted her right foot firmly on the ground, channeling her mana into the earth below. A magic circle formed beneath Rale’s feet, glowing with fiery intensity as flames erupted from below.

Whoosh!

A pillar of fire shot up from the ground, engulfing Rale in a blazing inferno. The heat was intense, scorching the air around them as the flames licked at his skin, leaving behind charred marks on his clothing.

"Tch! Not bad!" Rale clicked his tongue in annoyance, his eyes narrowing in determination as he assessed the damage. It was evident that he had taken some damage from Wilhelmina’s attack, his burnt elbow a testament to the ferocity of her assault.

But Rale was not one to back down so easily. With a swift motion, he conjured a swirling vortex of water mana around him, the currents forming into a protective barrier that shielded him from further harm. With renewed determination, he launched himself at Wilhelmina, his rapier flashing in the sunlight as he prepared to strike.

Wilhelmina grinned, her eyes gleaming with excitement as she met Rale’s charge head-on. With a flick of her wrist, she unleashed a torrent of flames, the heat searing the air as it surged toward her opponent. But Rale was ready, his movements fluid and precise as he danced around her attacks with effortless grace.

(It looks like she has improved quite a lot since our last fight. But fire mana, huh...) (Lyan)
