Chapter 217: World of Memories (3) Lilith Nyx Shyama

Lyan sat alone in his room, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air as he contemplated the events of the previous night. Solia had departed with Wilhelmina and the others for their agenda, leaving Lyan to ponder the peculiar absence of notifications from the grimoire.

"Hmm... It’s strange," Lyan murmured thoughtfully as he took another sip of his coffee, his mind drifting back to the passionate night he had shared with Solia.

"I believe we’ve done enough rounds, but somehow there are no prompts or notifications from the grimoire regarding a new monster child birth from our love session or the notification about her becoming one of the summoner’s wives. That’s interesting..." Lyan’s lips curled into a smirk as he analyzed the situation, finding amusement rather than concern in the phenomenon.

(It might be that there is a certain condition that needs to be fulfilled, huh...) Lyan pondered, his thoughts racing as he considered the possibilities.

"Maybe... It’s a certain mana-bound contract similar to the mana oath, I guess?" Lyan speculated aloud, his mind racing with theories. "I realized that her loyalty towards Wilhelmina as a friend and follower is quite high... And judging from our conversations, I guess she doesn’t accept the fact of her being my wife or as someone right next to me because her loyalty lies elsewhere."

Continuing to sip his coffee, Lyan contemplated the strength of conviction and loyalty that seemed to override the influence of the grimoire.

"I doubt the grimoire’s influence is weak. So I guess it’s their conviction that’s strong, huh...?" Lyan mused with a slight smile, intrigued by the complexity of human emotions and bonds.

"But at least I got quite an interesting one," Lyan remarked, his gaze shifting to the monster before him with a pair of wings and sharp teeth, happily munching on bread. "It seems that the intense sessions made the black bar points in the grimoire overloaded. I’ve certainly hit the jackpot."

[Gargoyle

Gargoyles, sculpted from stone but imbued with life, are formidable and enigmatic beings that serve as both guardians and spies in the realms they inhabit. With their chiseled features and imposing stature, they perch silently atop ancient structures, blending seamlessly with their stony surroundings until called upon to act. In their dormant state, they appear as mere decorative fixtures adorning the rooftops of castles, cathedrals, and other grand edifices, their visages often twisted into grotesque and menacing expressions that strike fear into the hearts of trespassers.

However, when the need arises, gargoyles spring to life with startling agility and strength. Their stone bodies awaken, and they descend from their lofty perches with an eerie silence, moving swiftly and stealthily through the shadows. With razor-sharp claws and formidable wings, they become formidable adversaries, capable of swooping down upon their unsuspecting prey with startling speed and ferocity. Despite their imposing appearance, gargoyles are not merely mindless guardians; they possess a keen intellect and cunning that allows them to carry out their duties as both protectors and spies with precision and efficiency.

"Just what I needed..." Lyan uttered under his breath.

The gargoyle is perfect for him to use for surveillance and espionage missions. Its ability to blend in with its surroundings makes it ideal for keeping an eye on his targets and reporting back to him. The beast’s intelligence also works in his favor. While the grimoire can provide insights and information, he will still have to rely on himself to think of ways to further exploit the beast.

After finishing the bread, the gargoyle took another bite and ate the rest of the meat, then licked the dripping juices off the blade. After a few moments, it flew away to return to its lair. Lyan stood up and stretched his arms. Then, he moved closer to the statue and studied its face.

He didn’t know how long he stared at its stone visage, but eventually, he shook his head and turned around.

A soft laugh escaped Lyan’s lips. "Perhaps I should name you..." His gaze drifted to the ground where he spotted a book lying on his bed. "Maybe... Grinzam?"

Grinzam was a gargoyle that served the Lord of Vainfold, the King of the Gargoyles. Or so he once read from the book that he read at the demon world’s grand library back in the previous life.

"Hm? Do you like that?" He asked the gargoyle, who looked at him with curiosity as if it understood him. It responded by nodding its head.

"Great. Welcome on board, Grinzam," Lyan pats the head of the gargoyle that continues his food, before suddenly, a screen appeared in front of him.

[Entering the World of memories]

"Huh? World of memories?" (Lyan)

[Lilith Nyx Shyama]

"Eh?" Lyan’s surprise deepened as the scene around him shifted abruptly, transporting him into a different reality.

"Wait. This is...?" Lyan’s voice trailed off as he took in his surroundings. Thunderous cheers and clapping filled the air, accompanied by the searing heat of the sun beating down upon him. Before he could fully comprehend his situation, an opponent charged at him with relentless speed.

"Eh? An opponent?" Lyan’s eyes widened in surprise as he instinctively prepared for battle.

Slash!

"Oops! That was close!" Lyan exclaimed, narrowly dodging the opponent’s strike by a mere hair’s breadth.

Suddenly, once again, the holographic screen materialized in front of Lyan, bearing an unexpected message.

[The host has been transferred to the world of memories due to a certain trigger]

[Attention: You have been automatically enrolled in the Knight Martial Tournament. As a participant, you are required to compete in three matches. If victorious, you will be rewarded with a prize of great value.]

[You’re in the grand arena of the Knight Martial Tournament, a prestigious event hosted by the empire that welcomes fighters from all corners of the realm. Knights and guards of the empire were obliged to attend, adding to the spectacle of the tournament.]

As Lyan processed the information, a prompt appeared from the hologram, presenting him with an enticing opportunity. The words glimmered in the air, imbued with a sense of excitement and challenge. Lyan’s eyes sparkled with determination as he contemplated the prospect of competing in the prestigious tournament and claiming the coveted prize.

"Looks like I’m in for some thrilling battles," Lyan muttered to himself, a grin spreading across his face. With a newfound resolve, he set his sights on the arena ahead, eager to test his skills against the formidable opponents that awaited him.

Lyan gripped his one-handed sword tightly, feeling the weight of his armor as he faced off against his opponent wielding a spear and shield.

"Hmph," Lyan scoffed as he parried his opponent’s attack with ease, his movements fluid and precise.

With a swift slash, Lyan countered his opponent’s strike, causing the tip of the spear to fly off in a futile attempt to block his attack.

Grinning triumphantly, Lyan seized the opportunity and struck his opponent’s exposed shoulder with his sword, sending him sprawling to the ground.

"Ha! Now then, what shall we do about your weapon?" Lyan taunted as he approached the fallen foe.

The man remained silent, his expression one of defeat as he picked up his shield in a feeble attempt to defend himself. But Lyan was too quick, dodging the shield’s clumsy strike and delivering a decisive kick to the man’s chest, sending him tumbling backward once more.

"Sorry, pal, but I can’t let you keep this," Lyan remarked as he retrieved the opponent’s spear, leaving him only with his shield. "Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll just take my property."

With a dismissive glance, Lyan walked away from his defeated opponent, leaving him alone in the arena.

"And the winner is Lyan!!!" The crowd erupted into thunderous applause as they cheered for their victorious champion.

"I guess I’ll need to take care of this quickly," Lyan muttered to himself, his eyes glinting with determination as he prepared for the next challenge that lay ahead.

Lyan had no idea why had he been suddenly summoned back to the world of memories? What had triggered the grimoire of love to whisk him away without his command? And why had he experienced a sudden time skip, finding himself thrust into a tournament without warning?

Despite the myriad of questions racing through his mind, Lyan remained surprisingly unfazed. His curiosity burned bright, but so did his excitement. He relished the thrill of the unknown, eager to uncover the secrets that lay hidden within this enigmatic realm.

"But let’s just find the answers one by one while having fun," Lyan declared, a terrifying smile spreading across his lips as he gazed at the upcoming events with anticipation.
