Chapter 214: Solia (1) The Discussion in The Redania Capital’s Inn
Lyan’s thoughts swirled as he pondered the events unfolding around him. With a furrowed brow, he gazed out of the window, his mind filled with concerns about the Duke’s ominous intentions.
(But I’m still concerned with what happened in the city before. That Duke... His goal is plainly obvious...) Lyan’s thoughts echoed with a note of apprehension.
Despite his unease, Lyan had taken precautions, dispatching shadow servants and acid ant soldiers throughout the city to act as surveillance. He had chosen strategic locations for the shadow servants, mindful of their larger size and the potential for discovery by the city guards.
"The thing left is to prepare for the martial tournament, find more information about the condition inside the capital, and make a decision about whether I would stay here or not, I guess..." Lyan mused aloud, his voice trailing off as he took a sip of the hot milk he held in his hand.
Just as he contemplated delving into Lilith’s world of memories for the night, a sharp knock echoed through the room, jolting him from his thoughts.
Knock! Knock!
’Are you there, Lyan?’ Solia’s voice called out from the other side of the door, breaking the silence.
After Lyan’s explanation about the opportunity for the tournament, the rest of the girls are told to train vigorously in order to face the tournament and get some benefits from it, while Wilhelmina and Solia are tasked to find more information about the tournament or even some tricks to survive longer at the tournament.
(But she seems to be alone here, I guess?) (Lyan)
"Come in," (Lyan)
As the door creaked open, Lyan’s gaze fell upon Solia, the chestnut-haired archer, as she entered the room with a hint of nervousness in her demeanor. Yet, it was not her demeanor that immediately caught Lyan’s attention, but rather the bottle of wine she held in her hands.
"That’s some great stuff you’re holding there," Lyan remarked with a smirk, his eyes glinting with amusement. The wine was of high quality, a luxury that did not escape his notice. Though not as charismatic as Wilhelmina, Lyan recognized Solia’s potential. She possessed a quiet beauty and skill in both archery and spearmanship, along with a sharp intellect that made her a valuable asset.
Despite her modest upbringing, Solia had the makings of a noble, and Lyan saw the potential for greatness within her. If she remained by Wilhelmina’s side, supporting her in her quest to reclaim her territory, she could achieve great things.
Though he harbored his own ambitions, Lyan respected Solia’s loyalty to her friend and the determination she displayed in pursuing her dreams. With a nod of acknowledgment, he motioned for her to take a seat, ready to discuss their plans for the upcoming tournament and the challenges they would face together.
"Well, well, Solia, what do we have here?" Lyan quipped, his tone laced with playful curiosity. "Planning on celebrating something, or did you just want to impress me with your taste in libations?"
Solia chuckled nervously, her cheeks flushing slightly at the jest. "I, uh, thought we could use a little something to lift our spirits," she replied, setting the bottle down on the table with a soft clink.
Lyan’s gaze softened as he regarded her. Despite her outward nervousness, he could see the determination burning within her, like a flame flickering in the wind. Solia may not possess the same confidence as Wilhelmina, but her loyalty and resolve were unwavering.
"Well, then, I suppose a toast is in order," Lyan declared, pouring two glasses of the wine and handing one to Solia. "To our preparations for the tournament, and to facing whatever challenges come our way with courage and conviction."
Solia nodded, a determined gleam in her eyes as she raised her glass. "To courage and conviction," she echoed, clinking her glass against Lyan’s before taking a tentative sip of the wine.
As they settled into conversation on the sofa, Lyan could sense Solia’s apprehension melting away, replaced by a growing sense of confidence. Together, they discussed their plans for gathering information about the tournament, strategizing for their participation, and ensuring their readiness for whatever awaited them in the arena.
"Here, I have written the capabilities of all our girls that I’ve observed. I thought you might need them. Well if you need them," Solia handed several papers which Lyan accepted eagerly.
"This is impressive," Lyan complimented. It’s not just about the beautiful handwriting, but also about how she managed to elaborate and explain the abilities and the habits of battle of each girl in such a wonderful display. Lyan raised some questions and asked about each girl, and Solia gave her insights and her answers with a great amount of detail.
Throughout their discussion, Lyan found himself impressed by Solia’s insights and suggestions. Her keen intellect and sharp intuition were valuable assets, complementing his own skills and knowledge.
"You know, Solia," Lyan remarked with a thoughtful smile, "you have a knack for this. Your insights are invaluable, and your dedication to our cause is commendable."
Solia’s cheeks flushed with a mixture of pride and humility at the praise. "Thank you, Lyan," she replied earnestly. "I may not have Wilhelmina’s charisma or strategic mind, but I’m determined to do whatever it takes to support her and our companions."
"But... I’m here not just to give you this," Solia suddenly gulped down the remaining wine vigorously, making her face even more flushed than before as she got more drunk.
Because of the discussion about the girls’ abilities on the paper, Solia sits right next to Lyan on the couch to make it easier for them to see the paper together. Because of this, the distance between them is close. Enough for Lyan to hear the loud beat of her heart that rapidly became faster.
As Solia’s demeanor shifted, Lyan couldn’t help but notice the subtle change in her behavior. Her cheeks were flushed, her movements slightly unsteady, and her breath quickened—a telltale sign of her increasing intoxication.
"Solia, are you alright?" Lyan asked, concern lacing his voice as he observed her with furrowed brows.
Solia giggled, a hint of mischief dancing in her eyes as she leaned closer to him. "I’m more than alright, Lyan," she replied, her words slurring slightly. "In fact, I’m feeling... quite fantastic."
Lyan’s eyes widened in surprise at her boldness, a faint blush coloring his cheeks as he shifted uncomfortably under her gaze. He wasn’t accustomed to such directness, especially from Solia, whose usual demeanor was more reserved and demure.
"Solia, perhaps you’ve had a bit too much to drink," Lyan suggested gently, reaching out to steady her as she swayed precariously on the couch. "Maybe it’s time we called it a night and—"
But before he could finish his sentence, Solia leaned in even closer, her breath warm against his ear as she whispered, "Lyan, there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you..."
Her words hung in the air, tantalizing and filled with an air of mystery. Lyan’s heart began to race, a mixture of anticipation and apprehension coursing through his veins.
"What is it, Solia?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper as he met her gaze, his eyes searching hers for answers.
Solia’s lips curved into a mischievous smile as she leaned back slightly, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I... I think you’re amazing, Lyan," she confessed, her words slightly slurred but sincere nonetheless. "You’re strong, brave, and... and incredibly handsome. Please, I know men especially mercenaries or adventurers, need a time to vent... Their lust... You know what I mean...?"
As Solia’s bold confession hung in the air, Lyan found himself caught off guard by her unexpected declaration. Her words were both flattering and surprising, and he couldn’t help but feel a surge of heat rising within him at her unabashed candor. However, despite the sudden turn of events, Lyan remained remarkably composed, his demeanor that of a gentleman but with an undeniable intensity simmering beneath the surface.
With a calm yet smoldering gaze, Lyan met Solia’s eyes, his expression a mixture of intrigue and desire. He could sense the intoxicating energy pulsating between them, igniting a spark of passion that threatened to consume them both. Solia’s beauty, illuminated by the soft glow of the candlelight, seemed to transcend mere mortal bounds. Her chestnut hair cascaded in silky waves around her shoulders, framing her delicate features with an ethereal glow.
"Solia..." Lyan began, his voice a husky whisper that sent shivers down her spine. "Are you sure about this?"
Solia’s breath caught in her throat as she gazed into Lyan’s eyes, her heart racing with anticipation. She nodded, her lips parting in a silent plea as she surrendered to the intoxicating allure of the moment. In that instant, all doubts and inhibitions melted away, leaving only the raw, primal desire that pulsed between them like a raging inferno.
Without another word, Lyan closed the distance between them, his hand gently cupping Solia’s cheek as he leaned in to capture her lips in a searing kiss. The world around them faded into insignificance as they lost themselves in the dizzying whirlwind of sensation and emotion.
Their kiss was like a wildfire, consuming them with an insatiable hunger that demanded to be sated. Solia’s hands tangled in Lyan’s hair, pulling him closer as she eagerly reciprocated his fervent embrace. Every touch, every caress sent waves of electricity coursing through their veins, heightening their shared passion to dizzying heights.
As their kiss deepened, Lyan’s hands began to explore Solia’s trembling form, tracing the curves of her body with a reverence that bordered on worship. His touch was gentle yet possessive, igniting a primal need within her that threatened to consume her whole.
With a soft moan of pleasure, Solia surrendered herself fully to Lyan’s embrace, allowing herself to be swept away by the tempestuous tide of desire. At that moment, there was no past, no future, only the intoxicating present that enveloped them in its passionate embrace.
"Please, do me," (Solia)
