Chapter 35: Scheme of the Mad Devil (2)

"Yes, despite the miserable state of the human, since he is placed on the crucifix, he is naturally alive and has committed a great folly against our tribe and race, thus placing that wretch on the crucifix."

The more the First Elder spoke, the more his voice became louder and louder.

Everyone’s gazes turned to the human, and their faces showed a furious expression, but no one interrupted the First Elder, and they listened attentively.

He pointed his finger at the tied-up human on the crucifix, he stated in a tone practically spitting venom,

"This wretched thing here had not only killed Princess Elmyra, Third Elder, and many more."

"BUT THE HUMAN HAD VIOLATED THE PRINCESS BEFORE KILLING HER."

The moment these words hung in the air, the First Elder noticed how the Tribe leader’s body trembled in rage. But he held himself back. As for everyone else, every single one of them had a twisted grimace plastered on their faces and all of them stared daggers at the unconscious human, wanting to rip him apart this instant.

Especially the male peers of Elmyra who had always admired her in their hearts. They clenched their fists so hard that some drops of blood fell from their hands.

Their killing intent furiously pressed onto the human, but even then there was no sign of him waking up. It only infuriated everyone even further and the First Elder himself was no exception to this.

Before any of them made a rash move, the elder’s regal voice rang out again.

"Enough, I know you’re all furious and so am I, but the only one who has the right to punish this wretch is the Tribe leader himself."

"As per the tradition and rules of our Dark elven race, for the sin of violating one of our own, the human shall be burned alive by the Dark fire on the tribal crucifix."

He added with a slight pause, "But before that, in whatever manner the Tribe leader wishes to punish the human is on his hands entirely. Only that his death must be in the dark fire as per our tradition and that will also be the most gruesome death for the human."

Some of their angered expressions relaxed slightly as they sneered at the human, but most of them still felt indignant and furious.

The first elder glanced at the Tribe leader, who was simply looking at the ground, hiding his expression, and added, "After all, that is also the reason why the Tribe leader has kept him alive till now."

Everyone’s gaze involuntarily turned back to their leader, but, no one said anything, and the First Elder himself simply waited like everyone, looking at the Tribe leader.

A whole 2 minutes passed in utter and suffocating silence, but no one said anything, an indication of the deep and vengeful wrath their leader was containing within himself.

For Hansel, it took his entire willpower to not set fire to the human just then and there.

But he dismissed his rage with a great effort. It would be too easy of a Death for the wretched human.

As everyone was waiting for him to say something during utter silence, Hansel realized 2 whole minutes had passed and everyone was getting anxious for their leader.

Hansel took a deep breath to calm his anger a bit, he tilted his head upwards looked at everyone intently for a moment, and stated in an extremely chilling voice,

"Death is but an escape, a doorway to the eternal embrace of ever peaceful darkness."

His eyes gazed at the human sharply as he said, "For that human, it is but a luxury, he cannot afford. I will torture that human so badly that he continues to beg me for death, enough so that he questions his entire existence itself."

"Until there’s nothing but a shell of that human remains, Only then he shall have my permission to die in the Fire of Eternal Darkness." he declared, his voice akin to a thunderclap.

He added, "So, all of you leave this hall now. No one is allowed to enter here for the next 3 days and disturb me. I shall show the human true meaning of Pain. One that he cannot forget even in the Sweet embrace of Darkness."

After that Hansel did not say anything more as he simply waited in his seat, calm and composed while the tribe members left.

The tribe members all looked at each other and felt hesitant but still obeyed nonetheless and everyone turned around to leave, each going to their treehouses. But one person remained who did not move, just waited for everyone to leave.

It’s the First Elder who remained in position, seeing him still in the same position some of the other elders hesitated for a moment but still chose to go towards the entrance.

Except for their leader, the First elder was the strongest and oldest one among the tribe members.

And he is also the one closest to the Tribe leader.

The second elder for some reason looked at the back of the first elder a bit longer, as if he sensed something was strange and his eyes glowed red slightly. But he shook his head and went about his way.

Just as they were leaving in slow steps, the First Elder took a step forward and asked—in an extremely low voice not wanting anyone else to hear it—"Leader, are you okay?"

Hansel looked at him for a moment and said, "I’m fine."

"But the seal on you had broken, and you will be....." added the First elder.

"It’s fine, one week at most, I will be back in my peak strength, after that I will absorb the blood crystal and we will be ready to attack the Fae folks." replied the Tribe leader in a resolute voice.

The elder frowned slightly and remained standing, losing himself in his thoughts, looking at him, the Tribe leader did not understand what he was thinking to himself so deeply.

Hansel averted his gaze and commanded him in a flat tone, "Elder, please leave, I cannot contain my anger anymore."

——————————

While the First Elder and Tribe leader were conversing, for a minute, they did not pay attention to the ominous thing that was happening at the same time.

Since the underground hall was quite large and the other dark elves were simply walking out by now, they had only reached halfway through the underground hall to the entrance.

And at that very moment,

Rustle.......rustle......rustle.....rustle...rustle

Shudder...shudder...shudder...shudder...

Tremble........Tremble........Tremble........Tremble...

Every single dark elf who was collectively walking out and now stood at the middle point of the underground hall began to shudder and tremble dangerously as if their bodies were going out of control.

But then it abruptly stopped, it was so sudden, which can be said as nothing short of ominous. Not only did their trembling stop but every single movement of theirs stopped, even the slightest motion of breathing on their chests heaving up and down cannot be seen.

As if they had suddenly become statues.

Normally this is something that would have been noticed by the Tribe leader very easily, especially at such close proximity. But because of the seal break, he was lost in his thoughts more than he would like to believe, even the First Elder was thinking something deeply.

None of them knew that a simple distraction would be their greatest undoing.

—————————-

Right after the Tribe leader commanded the First Elder to leave, his expression abruptly changed as he looked forward, and what he saw gave him a very bad premonition. Hansel got up from his seat and took a few steps forward as he felt extremely apprehensive.

He said in a loud voice, "Did I not command you all to leave?"

He added again, this time his voice carrying more weight and authority, "Do not make me repeat myself, I am already in a very bad mood."

But the events that followed were nothing short of an absolute nightmare for the Dark Elven Tribe leader.

Right after his powerful proclamation, all the tribe member’s unmoving bodies started to move extremely slowly. First, their heads were turning in the Tribe leader’s direction, in a way as if they were trying to look back at something.

Realizing that they could not fully turn their heads without the body itself turning and what was more disturbing was they were all making the same motions simultaneously, they all turned their bodies first, then turned their heads towards the Tribe Leader.

Their movements were quite unnatural as if they were puppets and a puppet master was controlling their bodies from beyond.

The moment Hansel’s gaze had fallen on his tribe members who were acting strangely from the beginning. Yes, he had only realized now that except for the First Elder, all of them had been acting strangely. He couldn’t exactly put his fingers on what exactly it was.

Just when they all turned to face the Tribe leader directly in a singular motion and their faces were completely visible to Hansel. He involuntarily shuddered and took a few steps back as a chill crept up onto his spine.

Every single one of the Dark elves who were staring at the tribe leader had a sinister grin on their faces, they smiled so hideously that their grin almost reached their ears. Not only that, but their eyes were also glowing blood red.

Hansel’s mind went blank seeing this scene. What was going on?

But his nightmare was far from over. It had only begun.
