Chapter 340: Chapter 334 The Strongest in Secret Phoenix City (4000-word chapter!)
The grand door of the Library Tower was crafted from an exceptionally heavy type of wood, with deep black textures. Tang Qi deliberately did not activate the magic on it, and instead used his bizarre strength to push it open.
During the creaking sounds, the scene inside swiftly came into view.
“Sigh”
Bright lights, emanating from chandelier hanging overhead, as if sensing the “Borrower” had appeared, lights ahead in every direction started “whooshing” into brightness. The dark first floor of the Library Tower was instantly flooded with a soft glow, capturing Tang Qi’s gaze.
The first things to appear were books.
Rows and rows of wooden bookshelves aligned vertically, extending deep inside. In the central area in front, Tang Qi could see the “Viewing Area” furnished with sofas and some long benches, surrounded by extending bookshelves, with chairs present in several corners and secluded spots, even small rooms.
For a moment, even with Tang Qi’s eyesight, he couldn’t count how many bookshelves there were, nor how many books.
And this was merely the first floor.
As Tang Qi stepped in, the moment his footsteps echoed, they were canceled out by ripples of some automatic witchcraft, making it impossible to hear from afar unless one was very close to Tang Qi.
Obviously, this was for the convenience of other Readers.
All the bookshelves and floors seemed to be made from a type of extraordinary wood called “Dark Red Brahma Wood,” an ancient tree species, symbolizing knowledge and truth.
Tang Qi walked in alone; most pathways were quite narrow, allowing only two people to pass side by side.
Within a few steps, Tang Qi was certain that this place was fixed with some kind of space-expanding witchcraft.
Otherwise, the area seen from the outside world couldn’t accommodate so many bookshelves.
In front of every region, there stood a wooden placard entwined with vines, emitting fluorescent leaves; written in the middle in the special characters of the Federation General Language, denoting all the kinds of books within that region.
For instance, the wooden placard in front of Tang Qi was engraved with the words “Famous People’s Travel Diaries.”
It sounded quite ordinary.
But as Tang Qi scanned the nearby shelf, the list of book titles that appeared included: “Ray Nott’s Exotic Adventure,” “Mysterious Sea Trench Exploration,” “Guest in Snow Monster Territory,” “Nathan’s Underground Adventure,” “Trip with a Charming Demon and Gorgon Banshee”…
If this were in the outside world, these book titles would most likely belong to some street-failing author’s delusions.
But here, they were very likely real.
Especially since these books all appeared very ancient, and each book was substantial in size.
Tang Qi was somewhat interested in the “Trip with Two Banshees,” but with plenty of time at hand, he didn’t immediately look into it, instead he silently noted down the title and moved straight to the next area.
He quickly browsed through the first floor and then appeared on the second floor.
The arrangement was almost the same but somewhat smaller than the first floor.
The third floor was even smaller.
And the depth and rarity of the books increased with the floor level.
Each area and floor had different access requirements.
Ordinary new students could only stay within one or two fixed areas on the first floor.
Of course, for Tang Qi, there were no such restrictions.
The Library Tower also had fourth and fifth floors, but the defenses there were extremely strong, and were secrets only accessible to high-ranking members of the Witch Group; Tang Qi was not presently interested.
Returning to the first floor, after passing areas labeled “Demon Compendium,” “Myths and Legends,” and “Complete Records of Mysterious Events,” Tang Qi arrived at his target area.
The wooden placard in front of him clearly read “Basic Books.”
Without hesitation, Tang Qi stepped in.
Books like “What is the Spiritual Tide?”, “The Essence of Magic Power,” “The Source of Secret Medicine,” “Where is the Extraordinary World?”… these basic books successively came into his view.
However, soon he selected his target.
“Bang!”
In the Viewing Area, Tang Qi alone appeared, placing two huge books, as large as a baby, on the table.
The cover above was still in Federation General Language.
“Extraordinary Professions”
“The Secrets of Promotion!”
These two basic books were also the thickest in this area.
The former included information on almost all the extraordinary professions that the Witch Group could gather, authored by the symbol of Merada as it included most of the Merada Witches over centuries.
The latter recorded the secrets about promotion in various professions.
Tang Qi had a premonition that the contents of these two books might answer some doubts in his mind, helping him to organize his multiple skills and professions.
He first opened the “Professions,” and the content on the first page was “Witch.”
“Witchcraft is a complex profession that includes major categories of dark and light, and also includes Curse Witch, Divination Witch, Magic Potion Witch… often under the influence of certain factors, witches frequently experience a shift in their camps…”
Before immersing himself, Tang Qi issued an order to the Night Beast and Gluttony beside him.
Then the two little guys cheerfully scuttled out, starting to work in tandem.
Gluttony in the front, constantly spitting out extraordinary books, while Night Beast was huffing and puffing following, putting these books given to him by Esmeralda back in their original places.
Time, rapidly began to flow.
Other than the sound of flipping pages, the Viewing Area was unusually quiet.
After about several hours, Tang Qi slowly closed the last page of the “Professions.”
He didn’t scrutinize each page thoroughly but scanned them roughly.
