Lord of Mysterious Wizard -
Chapter 305: 303 Rafael
Chapter 305: Chapter 303 Rafael
Winston Town, residents and travelers alike were still reveling in the celebration of “Scarlet Moon Day”. They all seemed to anticipate the lively scene of tomorrow, feeling excited to take part in such a grand event.
It was quite eerie that they were unable to sense any activity from “Earl Castle,” not to mention being completely oblivious to the massive changes outside the town.
The unnaturally dark fog enveloped the entire Winston Town.
But apart from the Transcendents, the ordinary people could see nothing. They continued to revel as usual.
Within the fog, faintly appeared some huge, distorted monsters.
For instance, the ones Tang Qi had seen before, representing different desires with their light, various symbols, and members of the Immortal Council including an “Anna’s descendant” maintaining the “Black Limb Pupa” state and vaguely visible spectral figures from the War God family with red skull heads, or countless misty beast shadows belonging to the Rudolph family…
This scene was as if one had returned to the Dark Age where demons rampaged.
“Huff~”
A wisp of smoke was wandering through the town, following a subtle sense, gradually drifting Tang Qi, transformed into the fog, to a familiar building.
Winston Theatre!
When he first entered the town, Tang Qi and Sally had watched a musical opera “Mist Bay Sea Battle” there.
As the fog settled and twisted, Tang Qi’s figure emerged.
Simultaneously, his body and facial features began to transform.
The identity of “John Watson” faded away, and Tang Qi revealed his true self.
Normally, Tang Qi could’ve used an avatar if meeting someone else.
But this time, Tang Qi intended to meet a familiar face.
“Once I contact Jason, along with the subsequent plans, it will be hard to hide as a Wild Artifact Forger.”
“On that note, does this count as officially stepping onto the stage?”
Before entering the theatre, Tang Qi seemed to have thought of something, a smile curling up at the corner of his mouth.
When his light voice faded, he also stepped into the theatre.
Black curtains, red chairs, and light yellow floors, along with that classical, richly atmospheric arched ceiling… a slightly familiar scene. However, different from usual, the stage wasn’t bustling with numerous actors, just two figures.
One, indeed, was Tang Qi’s old acquaintance, the mysteriously born and extraordinary Second Generation of Demon Monster, Jason.
This cowboy-like youth appeared bored, holding a double-barreled shotgun, guarding another figure beside him.
A human youth he had covertly met not long ago.
Looking like a frail college student with no hint of strength, this bespectacled youth.
Based on rumors heard, this youth is Jason’s “Divine Detective Partner.” Together, they had solved many bizarre and horrific events.
At that moment, the youth, with a serious expression and furrowed brows, sat on the floor, surrounded by dry yellow papers that looked like ancient archives.
“Raffael, is it useful to look into these now? That monster called the Immortal Earl seems to be returning, I sense a terrifying force trying to descend here, and I’m certain I’m no match.”
“Of course, it’s useful. Don’t panic. The first ones the monster will target are definitely the Immortal Council and the Seven Ancestor Descendants. It won’t be our turn yet.”
Their conversation was underway, the unmistakably undisguised footsteps abruptly resounded.
“Buzz”
Almost instantly, Tang Qi sensed a strong menace.
The source was from that dark muzzle ahead.
“Jason!”
“Tang Qi!”
Perhaps due to Transcendents having mostly stronger memories than average humans, although strictly speaking, it was only their first encounter.
Yet Jason recognized Tang Qi in a flash, a look of surprise appearing on his face while showing no intention of lowering the ghost-light glowering double-barreled shotgun in his hand.
Tang Qi didn’t like having a Transcendent weapon aimed at him, but Jason’s reaction somewhat corroborated his earlier thoughts.
This Demon Hunter had indeed grown.
Their first encounter, Jason had just started out, practically had “Reckless” written all over his face.
Now, facing someone who had once saved his life, he still didn’t let his guard down.
This made Tang Qi feel that the feasibility of his plan had just increased a bit.
“Tang Qi, aren’t you supposed to be in Messer City? Why are you here?”
As Jason spoke, he finally moved the muzzle of the double-barreled shotgun downwards.
Tang Qi looked at him and then at the slender young man called “Raffael”, then replied with a wry smile: “Jason, believe me, if possible, I would love to stay in Messer City; this dangerous game here is really not suitable for me.”
“Unfortunately, I’m already in the game and to be able to leave alive, I need your help.”
…
“You mean, the Daughter of Destiny the Immortal Council and the Seven Ancestor Descendants are frantically searching for, is your little girlfriend?”
As Jason spoke, his hands trembled slightly while holding the shotgun. He felt overwhelmed by a sudden hit, thinking how he, a benefactor to the people and a Demon Hunter, is still a “single sheep.” How could a young high school Artifact Forger already have a girlfriend?
“She’s a classmate!”
Tang Qi looked at Jason, emphasizing.
“Alright, alright, a classmate it is then. What do you need us to do then, seek help from a castle? Without confirming the faction of that Earl, neither the Ancient Castle Bureau nor the Church might dispatch Transcendent level above strong beings.”
“Indeed, even knowing that Count Samuel Winston belongs to the Evil Camp, the Church might be possible, but the Ancient Castle Bureau is actually powerless.”
As Jason spoke with a look of helplessness, suddenly a voice interrupted.
The speaker was the bespectacled, slender young man.
He put down the old archives, walked up to Tang Qi, and extended a hand: “Hello, I’m Doctor Raffael!”
“Tang Qi!”
The two shook hands, and their perceptions automatically connected.
A regular human!
The result obtained yet again, proving Tang Qi’s special ability was not mistaken.
Of course, another possibility could not be excluded.
Such as this Dr. Rafael, whose life level might be so high that even the current Tang Qi couldn’t decipher any information.
However, this possibility was extremely slim.
After the greeting, Rafael continued the previous conversation, pushed up his glasses, and pointing at the documents on the floor, said with a very certain tone: “According to these historical records, and some documents previously seen in the Ancient Castle Bureau before coming here, there is sufficient reason to infer that this Immortal Earl had combat capabilities far exceeding the professional level in the Old Calendar Era, and his military achievements as a whole are close to a demigod-level strength.”
“It’s interesting, I found that Samuel Winston is a very contradictory person; although his early life could also be considered that of an outstanding noble, it’s unlikely he would have achieved the later accomplishments and those incredible military feats. His transformation seems to stem from an adventure with few records…”
“After returning from that adventure, Samuel Winston became incredibly formidable, and although he couldn’t compare with the geniuses of that era, he also shone with his own light.”
“An existence of such level is currently beyond the capability of the Ancient Castle Bureau to handle.”
“It would also be difficult for the Bright Church in Secret Phoenix State, but given the church’s resources, it’s likely they could resolve it through other channels or by seeking help from headquarters.”
“So, if help is what you’re seeking, perhaps you should turn to the church.”
Upon hearing this, Tang Qi suddenly became interested in Dr. Rafael.
He seemed to faintly understand why an ordinary human could team up with such a powerful demon hunter like Jason.
“What do you think, would the church agree to help me?”
Tang Qi suddenly asked.
“Not a chance!”
Rafael responded immediately, with an even more certain tone.
He did not give a specific reason, only lightly said: “The official and church’s interests are not always aligned.”
Hearing this, Tang Qi nodded.
Unconsciously, the rhythm of the conversation came to be controlled by Tang Qi and Rafael.
In this pairing of the divine detective and advisor, unexpectedly the leader was not the almost professional-level Jason, but the seemingly frail Rafael.
If there were time, Tang Qi would be very interested in exchanging thoughts with Rafael.
But now, time was the most luxurious thing.
Without further delay or pleasantries, Tang Qi directly said to Rafael: “Your assessment of Samuel Winston is correct, but it’s not without hope. Many secrets are hidden within.”
“In this upheaval, perhaps the interests of the Ancient Castle Bureau and the church are not aligned, but mine and Sally’s interests absolutely align with those of the Ancient Castle Bureau. We all hope to eliminate those evil and unstable elements and bring peace back to Winston Town, right?”
“So, I hope to have your and Jason’s help at the crucial moment.”
Tang Qi sincerely said, handing over a roughly made iron piece.
“No problem!”
Before Rafael could speak, Jason brightly smiled and was the first to take the one-way iron plate.
After agreeing, Tang Qi smiled at the two, quickly turned, and left.
“Do you trust him a lot?”
As Tang Qi’s figure disappeared at the theater, Rafael suddenly spoke.
Jason, playing with the iron piece, touched his head and smiled naively, “My old man used to say, those who hustle for love can’t be bad people, though this guy is suspected of puppy love.”
“He said they’re just classmates.”
“Haha, do you believe that?”
…
Completely unaware that two people were “slandering” him from behind, Tang Qi was currently re-transforming into smoke, heading toward “Tree Grandma” bookshop.
Midway, he passed by a building that seemed to have been completed not too long ago.
It was supposed to be the town hall of Winston Town, but now it had become the temporary church in the town.
Even just passing by, Tang Qi could sense the unrest inside.
Demigod level strength!
Even the church could not remain calm.
Almost as this thought crossed Tang Qi’s mind.
“Boom”
A fleeting, terrifying presence that almost made Tang Qi reveal his true form.
It appeared in the temporary church and disappeared in an instant.
This presence, different from the one previously sensed, the ‘Ascetic’ who appeared as a heavy armor soldier brutally defeating the descendants of the twelve patriarchs, was even more terrifying.
“Things just got livelier!”
“Huh”
Just a while ago, Tang Qi had also brutally defeated some hounds sent by the Shepherd Sect.
But such feats would probably not be replicated in Winston Town.
Here, he seemed more like a minor character dancing on the edge of a knife, with any random “monster” appearing to be stronger than him.
“Seems, even more exciting now!”
The smoke that was Tang Qi disappeared at the entrance from main street to side-street, a slight voice barely audible, floated in the air.
