Chapter 284: Chapter 283 Earl’s Secret
On one side of the battlefield between the plumber and the gorilla mother, everything in the display room became visible.
After all, it was a school with a long history, filled with various antiques and honorable relics that nearly filled the entire display room. Due to the plumber’s prior handling, the disturbances here were completely undetectable by ordinary people; perhaps some Transcendents with keen perception were on their way to watch the excitement.
However, before that happened, Tang Qi, accompanied by a percussive-like background sound, saw what he was looking for.
The ghost light emerging from his eyes indicated that indeed, there were Curios in the display room.
Moreover, they were located in the area where Immortal Count Samuel Winston’s donated items were placed.
That area, apart from the proportionally scaled-down warship at the center, also had some glass stands, inside which were ancient Gold Coins from the Orient, porcelain, artifacts from primitive tribes, and other antiques.
But Tang Qi’s gaze was entirely captivated by a sword hanging on the wall that seemed unremarkable. It was nearly as corroded as a piece of rusty iron. The vaguely distinguishable shape seemed that of a Swift rapier favored by naval officers or great pirates.
It was a Curio.
Within the ghost light, the image formed.
[Curio: Tebat’s Sword.]
[State: Completely damaged.]
[Information Fragment One: Its owner was Tebat’s Deputy, a naval officer who was active around the Federation’s coastal waters during the Dark Age and a great pirate. As his Sword, when it was intact, it possessed some magical powers, but now it is merely a corroded piece of iron.]
[Information Fragment Two: The sword still harbors some of Tebat’s resentment. He perished at the hand of his loyal subject, Immortal Earl Samuel Winston. The Earl proclaimed that he accidentally killed his Deputy due to a dispute over ideals, but the true reason was that Tebat accidentally discovered the Earl’s Secret, and he was silenced.]
[Information Fragment Three: After Tebat’s Death, the information contained within the Sword largely vanished due to the Earl’s tampering, leaving the Secret unknown.]
…
As the second and third Information Fragments passed by, Tang Qi immediately frowned.
“The Earl’s Secret?”
If he remembered correctly, there was no mention of this in the comic ‘Immortal Legend’ told by the Witch Leader.
This was not surprising, after all, that comic may have only been intended to introduce the origins of the Ancestors, the curse, Immortal Earl, Daughter of Destiny… and other such things. The story of the Earl’s life, though woven throughout, focused on depicting major events.
The Earl’s period as a pirate and his subordinates did not occupy much of the narrative.
This “Tebat’s Deputy” in particular, had never made an appearance.
What truly surprised Tang Qi was the point that even the Earl had undisclosed Secrets.
For this Secret, the Earl, who was characterized as “strong and wise,” went as far as to silence his own Deputy.
While Tang Qi was contemplating, the Combat in the corridor had already produced a victor.
Due to the covert assistance from Sally and Tang Qi, the blonde’s brief surge of power managed to suppress the plumber for a moment, but that was it. The plumber, who had come back to his senses, used his vicious wrench to teach the blonde how to behave correctly.
Luckily, the plumber was clearly not a Transcendent of the Evil Camp.
After defeating the gorilla mother, he merely tied her up and then calmly walked into the display room, prepared to gather his spoils.
Alas, he was unaware that while there were indeed some valuable items in there, they were not Curios, but the information they held inside.
The only Curio was a piece of junk.
“Sally, let’s go.”
Tang Qi did not stay to watch any longer, but turned around and left with Sally.
Under the cover of the Night Beast’s Shadow Magic and Tang Qi’s “Illusion Spell,” even though they left openly, no one could detect them.
As soon as the two of them stepped out of the academic building, suddenly, a bloody scent that was almost imperceptible to ordinary people but overwhelmingly strong for Tang Qi wafted in from a certain direction.
“It seems like something bad has happened.”
Sally noticed it too.
Both of them looked towards a beautiful small grove within the campus.
It should have been a peaceful place, but because of various activities for the school’s founding celebration, the grove had also been turned into a party venue.
When Tang Qi and Sally entered the campus, they saw some high school students gathered there for a barbecue, singing songs.
And now, what came from there were no longer songs, but intermittent screams and wails.
Letting the Night Beast perform shadow transfer, the two appeared in the grove in the next moment.
The crime scene came into view.
Tang Qi showed no particular reaction, whereas Sally, only turned a bit pale; after some experiences, her resilience had greatly increased.
But if it were an ordinary person, like those who later discovered the scene of the crime in front of the grove, they were now vomiting, letting out piercing screams, fleeing backwards while making sure their cries could be heard throughout the campus.
Yet no one could blame them, for the scene before their eyes was indeed too horrifying.
All of the dead, their bodies had been cut open at the chest and abdomen, then hung upside down on the trees.
The internal organs, all gone without a trace.
At the incision, faint traces of being torn by teeth could be seen, making it unbearable to conjecture what had happened.
Crimson, viscous blood dripped down, quickly turning the entire grove into something akin to hell.
“Hu”
A chilling wind blew over, mixed with the scent of blood, the smell of earth, and an indescribable nausea-inducing odor. It felt like something was trying to burrow into the skin, gnaw at the flesh—an unbearable itching and fear.
“A Transcendent who breaks the rules, and moreover, quite close to Professional Level.”
Tang Qi stared intently at the scene for a moment, murmured to himself.
Apart from a few Transcendents with inheritances and unbroken traditions, most Transcendents suddenly obtained tremendous Extraordinary Power with the opportunity provided by the “Return of the Spiritual Tide.” It was normal for some unruly ones to emerge at such times.
If it were somewhat normal, it would be like the Mountain Witch from before.
This one was clearly abnormal.
Just don’t know, this nearly Professional Level individual from the Evil Chaotic Camp, was he hired by the descendants of the thirteen ancestors, or did he enter Winston Town on his own accord for the “Divine Blood”?
“Hopefully the official forces will take action soon to resolve this uncertain element.”
“Winston Town, is probably going to be in chaos.”
Having said this, Tang Qi then led Sally straight out of the campus.
Standing back on the main street, the bustling atmosphere made Sally’s complexion seem a bit better.
Not waiting for her to ask Tang Qi about the next steps, she looked up and saw that Tang Qi’s gaze passed through the crowd, landing directly on a distinctly artistic building on the other side of the street.
That building looked like a theater.
Outside, a promotion poster was hanging, depicting a mist-shrouded sea, a dark environment, churning waters, and on the sea surface, a number of warships and naval vessels with plumes of gunpowder smoke, the central part of the waters dyed crimson.
At the bottom, several large characters informed passersby what play was currently being performed inside the theater.
“Mist Bay Sea Battle!”
