Chapter 163: Chapter 102: The Approach_2

"Huh?" Zheng Shiduo’s eyes widened.

"When I entered the fortress to investigate, I carried multiple devices that shared information with my team. What I saw, my captain saw."

The Mane Bear spoke quickly:

"These devices were only damaged when I was hit by two micro-missiles, due to the explosion.

"Before that, the clone boy’s spiritual impact on me had already been relayed to my captain.

"Knowing her as I do, she must have left on the Flying Device by now. She wouldn’t come to save me because she would probably deduce that you wouldn’t dare kill me easily, and this is General Fu Jian’s territory, where she wouldn’t dare make a move openly.

"The term ’devil’ here is not derogatory; it’s an accolade for General Fu Jian, who is a hero protecting humanity."

The Mane Bear looked downcast and continued:

"And I, with all this ability, have become a lackey of evil and desire, responsible for the death of who knows how many humans! I am guilty, I’ve decided to spend the rest of my life saving humanity and helping others, with a heart set on good!"

Zheng Shiduo was completely flustered.

The Mane Bear started rambling about "my guilt," "my atonement," "I am a terrible person," "only this can give me a little relief."

Bang!

The Mane Bear’s muscles suddenly swelled as he let out a low growl.

He actually broke free from the restraints of the electric torture chair!

Zheng Shiduo, scared, hastily backed away, and the wings spread on his back shattered the tactical vest he wore.

Deep Sea immediately rushed into the interrogation room, and Wu Man was getting ready for another spiritual impact.

But the Mane Bear slowly stood up, originally just over two meters tall, now appearing to be two meters three, with exaggerated muscles pulsating continuously, spiritual energy churning within him, and a faint halo appearing behind his head.

The Mane Bear slowly walked up to Zheng Shiduo, ignoring the threat of Deep Sea’s Destruction Cannon, and slowly knelt down, bowing his head to Zheng Shiduo and holding up... an alloy chair leg.

"Captain Zheng, please help me, use the pain on my body to ease the torment in my heart."

"Uh, what do you mean?"

"Please whip me hard!"

"No, man!"

Zheng Shiduo pursed his lips, trembling as he cried out:

"I too like being passive! I don’t play with torture either! Compared to a big pervert, my preferences are actually quite normal!"

Deep Sea couldn’t help but lift his hand to his forehead.

Though he didn’t quite understand the complicated spiritual world of Spiritual Ability Users, Deep Sea could clearly sense it.

These two were talking about completely different things!

...

Eight o’clock at night.

After finishing his meditation for the day, Daoist Wang pedaled his bicycle back to his workshop, covered with a blue tarp.

He still needed to eat;

and the learning must continue.

Being a mechanic was easy at the junior level, but at the intermediate level, he had to learn all kinds of mathematics, and modern mathematics was something Daoist Wang had never dealt with during his cultivation.

Cultivation didn’t require solving various equations!

When Wang Jixuan returned to the place, except for Deep Sea who was not there, everyone else was present but seemed weighed down with heavy thoughts.

What had happened?

Had the external environment deteriorated again?

"Mr. Wang is here!"

Wan Xiaoqi called out, prompting everyone to stand up in unison.

Even the usually carefree Combat Girl Chi Snake showed a restrained smile this time.

"I was a bit presumptuous to ask Mr. Wang for a massage before, haha... Don’t take it to heart, I’ve always had great respect for you!" she said, somewhat embarrassingly.

Daoist Wang nodded, a bit confused.

Zheng Shiduo had already wiped clean a chair with his sleeve, calling out quickly: "Bro! Take a seat here, bro! I have something to show you!"

"What?"

Wang Jixuan, puzzled, obediently sat down. Wan Xiaoqi turned on a holographic image, and several people immediately gathered around.

Wu Man didn’t join the commotion, continuing to read in a corner.

When Wu Man looked up at them, there was always a hint of haughty pride in his eyes, as if to say, "How come you’ve only just realized the teacher’s greatness?"

The holographic image was clear; the Mane Bear was chatting with a lady wearing a black mask who seemed to be drunk.

"Hmm, it is indeed me, Captain..."

"You know, Mane Bear, contacting me like this is a serious violation of protocol. I could have just ignored your communication request, but considering our decade-long friendship, I decided to hear what you have to say."

"Can you change the threat report for Fortress 76 to a mild threat?" Mane Bear asked directly.

"No, I have already sent it out."

"What rating did you give?"

"Can I even say that?"

Dragonfly Lady cursed:

"Has someone stuffed your brain folds with excrement? Have you forgotten all the rules and regulations? You damn fool, you’re really close to death!"

Mane Bear sighed, "I just suddenly feel, very suddenly, maybe the explosions and electric shocks affected my brain, it’s like I’ve awakened."

Dragonfly Lady leaned back, "Awakened to what?"

"Good is good, evil is evil, lay down the butcher’s cleaver and regain the self."

"Huh? What the hell are you talking about! I really should rate Fortress 76 with an S-level danger! Are you mind-controlled?"

"No, I’m quite normal. Those who are mind-controlled would subconsciously avoid eye contact, but now you can look me in the eye."

"We’re talking through a camera, you idiot," retorted Dragonfly Lady, with a hand to her forehead, "What can I do to save your pitiful intellect, my old team member."

"I’m serious!"

Mane Bear said with a firm look:

"This battle made me start to reflect on our actions, they did not whisper to me or tempt me to do anything.

"There is only one thing I want to do now, and that is to help humanity conquer the Blade Beasts!

"I don’t want to comment on the current state of Spiritual Ability City; I’m just reflecting on my own past actions, seeking spiritual relief."

"Fine then."

Dragonfly Lady said hopelessly:

"You violate the rules to send me a message, just to say you want to start being a good person from now on? You’re really funny... You started killing and wreaking havoc alongside me against the Blade Beasts at 22, and now at 37, you’re telling me you’ve awakened?

"The moment you stained your hands with human blood, you were no longer human, but a Fierce Ghost, a Devil, a human-shaped Blade Beast. You can’t escape it, no matter what you do, it will haunt you like a nightmare, dragging you step by step into the abyss! Until it turns you into an even fiercer ghost... There’s absolutely no turning back!"

Mane Bear remained silent.

Dragonfly Lady stood up, moving out of the camera range, and tossed the black mask onto the table.

Wisps of white smoke appeared on the screen, presumably from her smoking beside it.

Mane Bear exhaled deeply, and said earnestly, "I want to help them, Captain. I know you, you didn’t set out to become a demon. Humans shouldn’t fight humans, and we have over a decade of friendship."

"To hell with friendship! I don’t buy that crap!"

Dragonfly Lady swore loudly, but the camera captured three lines formed by the white smoke:

[Get to the frontline headquarters by any means possible.]

[Judgement Team will arrive at Fortress 76 in 24 hours.]

[You know too much; you’ll be one of the targets as well.]

The small words appeared for three seconds before vanishing.

The communication was cut off, leaving behind Dragonfly Lady’s coarse words:

"Why is my team full of childish fools! Doesn’t he know that our conversations are recorded and automatically uploaded as audio files?"

The projection screen abruptly ended.

Inside the workshop.

Wang Jixuan rubbed his brow.

"This Judgement Team, what’s their composition?"

...

The D5 Combined Combat Zone, frontline headquarters.

A large transport flew out of the cliff-side airport, activating stealth mode as it headed towards Fortress 76.

Inside the cargo hold of the transport, busy researchers were walking back and forth.

Lingtong lay quietly on the operating table, with her long hair cascading like a waterfall over the end of the table. Her pale and translucent face was as tempting as the flesh of ripe lychee, but unfortunately, no one was there to appreciate this beauty.

Two silver-gray mechanical arms were undergoing final adjustments.
