Chapter 116: Chapter 80 Preacher

The ten or so men and women in the tavern were dumbfounded.

Upper City? Law Enforcement Team?

Although the Clean-up troops were stationed on the 49th Floor, the sudden appearance of the Upper City Law Enforcement Team, shouting about a routine inspection, was... perhaps a bit too outrageous?

In the corner on the circular sofa, several members of the Wanli Gold Gang fixed their gaze on Wang Jixuan, gripping the handles of their pistols hidden under their clothes.

Master Wang remained unperturbed by this.

It was not without reason; he had plenty of Vajra Talismans on him, those new green paper ones, and he was wearing a bullet-proof vest.

His gaze swept around the room, and upon spotting several men and women whose souls had been tainted by demonic energy, he revealed a faint cold smile and said indifferently,

"I’ve received a tip-off that there’s an illegal gathering here.

"In accordance with the Fortress regulations that prohibit any unregistered religious gatherings of more than six people, I am going to search this place. Please cooperate."

"Officer!"

A sullen-faced middle-aged man stood up from the corner and said with a smile:

"Although this might seem presumptuous, we at Wanli Gold are all good people... Could we see your identification, please?"

The young woman beside him suddenly pulled out a gun from under the table and fired at Wang Jixuan.

Bang!

Master Wang could have dodged the standard caliber bullet in dozens of ways, but he chose to comply with the bullet’s inertia, pressing down on the Vajra Talisman, ’taking the hit’ on his back, and his body fell forward.

An immediate silence fell over the tavern.

Most people showed a look of unease, and two young girls turned pale and trembled all over.

The middle-aged man glared at the woman who fired the gun and shouted angrily,

"Guang Siyao, what are you doing! Law Enforcement Team! The Upper City Law Enforcement Team!"

The woman’s pupils flickered with a shallow green light, and at this moment, she did not respond to the man’s roar but tilted her head and watched Wang Jixuan.

Calm, indifferent, and eerie.

She raised her hand to fire again at Wang Jixuan; the middle-aged man lunged at her, landing a punch on her face.

The woman fell into the sofa, raised her hand, and fired again.

Thump!

A bloody hole appeared in the forehead of the middle-aged man, his body slumped powerlessly.

The surrounding gang members froze for two seconds but then immediately drew their guns and aimed at the woman. One of them, red-eyed, pulled the trigger, and several others fired at the same time!

The woman’s body was riddled with bullets, yet she still managed to raise her hand feebly, attempting to shoot Wang Jixuan on the ground again.

Wang Jixuan stood up straight as an arrow.

The woman’s last shot hit the ground. Slowly, she stopped breathing, and her right hand fell weakly.

But her eyes remained open, calm and with no dissipating green light in her pupils.

’Indeed, the soul has been so corrupted it’s hardly recognizable, not just simply tainted by demonic energy... If it’s like this...’

Master Wang narrowed his eyes slightly.

In the corner, three men and two women suddenly grabbed bottles and knives, vaulted over the coffee table, leaped the sofa, and charged straight at Wang Jixuan.

A series of sharp whistling sounds erupted!

All of a sudden, blood blossomed on the back of their necks!

Several nuts, stained with blood, embedded themselves in the wall covered with pink wallpaper.

The gang members’ minds obviously short-circuited, staring dumbly at Wang Jixuan.

What kind of move was that?

Wang Jixuan said calmly,

"The Clean-up troops will arrive soon. I suggest you drop your weapons and go to the entrance to kneel with your hands on your heads in advance."

He pulled out two large-caliber pistols from behind his tactical belt, checked the magazines, and chambered the rounds.

Then, Master Wang turned his head to look at the several gang members:

"Tell the Clean-up troops that the ones I leave alive need not be killed."

A gangster remained stunned, slowly beginning to kneel while holding his head, only to be kicked by someone beside him.

Wang Jixuan did not bother with these ordinary people and walked straight to the wooden door to the left of the bar. He kicked it open and dashed into the corridor that extended downward.

A few seconds later.

Gunshots, like the beat of dance music, echoed from below.

The gang members snapped back to reality.

"Damn it! He, he! He!"

"Should we just kneel down? Will the Clean-up troops really come?"

"He just got shot and was fine? Ah, must be the bullet-proof vest."

"Those people... how did they die... was it nuts? The ones embedded in the wall, are they the legendary kind of nuts?"

"Blackstorm!"

"Shut up! What are you blabbering about! Do you have a death wish?"

"I noticed a long time ago, something was off about this gathering, it felt too wicked!"

The gunfire kept ringing under their feet, moving rapidly.

These gang members exchanged looks, then turned to beckon to the several men and women hiding in the corner, walked outside the tavern, leaned against the wall corner, and crouched down neatly with their heads in their hands.

Just a few meters below their feet.

Bang!

A bullet, accompanied by blood, burst out from the back of the head of an old man with green eyes. The old man’s body leaned against the double doors of the gambling den and slowly collapsed.

In the adjacent corridor, over a dozen bodies lay haphazardly, each with firearms.

Wang Jixuan hadn’t brought many bullets, so he put the pistols back into their holsters and unhurriedly opened his duffel bag, taking out three sections of a rifle to screw together, and checked his reserve of talismans.

Complex patterns lit up on the rifle.

Behind the door, chanting could be heard from multiple people.

Master Wang kicked aside a nearby body, cracked open a door, and squeezed in.

It would be rare to find such a grand hall adorned in gold and glitter in Fortress Lower City unless it was a high-end gambling den.

In fact, gambling was a main business of the Wanli Gold Gang.

In this gambling den, tables and chairs had been moved to the corners, clearing the large red carpet in the center. Men and women, some dressed plainly, others elegantly, were sitting cross-legged on the floor, humming a soothing melody and swaying their bodies to the rhythm.

Their faces showed happiness and intoxication.
