Chapter 218: Cousins

Early the next morning, in the Feng family’s villa, Xing Xiayan finally opened her eyes in dazed.

Feeling dizzy, it took her a while to fully regain her senses. When she noticed her unfamiliar surroundings, she opened her eyes wide in fear.

Feeling someone holding her hand, she looked around and saw Guan Wufeng, who had fallen asleep beside her, sitting on the ground. The sight of him eased her fear, and her eyes grew teary.

As she looked at him, tears slipped from her eyes. Remembering what had happened before she lost consciousness, she called out softly, "Brother Wufeng—"

Hearing her voice, Guan Wufeng stirred from his sleep. He frowned before he opened his eyes. When he felt the hand in his palm tremble slightly, he instantly woke up. Looking up, he saw his girlfriend crying with an aggrieved expression.

Seeing her awake, he sighed in relief. He stood up and sat on the edge of the bed. Guan Wufeng leaned down to kiss her forehead gently and hugged her tightly as he said, "Yanyan, I’m so sorry. It’s great that you are awake."

When she heard his apology, Xing Xiayan broke into sobs. She buried her face in his arms and asked, "Brother Wufeng, that bad man came to get me again. I was so scared. Why did you come so late?"

Guan Wufeng’s heart ached hearing her cries and feeling her body tremble with fear. Closing his eyes, he hugged her even tighter.

"Yanyan, it’s my fault. I’m so sorry I was late. But you are safe now, don’t be afraid. I won’t leave your side again, I promised," he said hoarsely.

Guan Wufeng held his girlfriend until she calmed down, then gently wiped away her tears/ Looking at her swollen eyes, he asked softly, "Yanyan, would you like to live with me?"

Xing Xiayan looked up and asked, "Brother Wufeng, where do you live?"

Guan Wufeng gently ruffled her hair and asked her back, "Where would you like to live?"

After a moment of thought, Xing Xiayan said, "Brother Wufeng, I want to live near the mountains. My grandparents said the mountain air is fresh, and the scenery is beautiful."

"Alright, let’s live in the mountains," Guan Wufeng agreed.

"Will the bad guy find us if we live in the mountains?" she asked.

"We will go somewhere far away, just the two of us. He won’t be able to find us," he assured her with a smile.

Xing Xiayan smiled and nodded. She hugged him tighter and asked, "Brother Wufeng, when will we go? I don’t want to stay in this scary place anymore."

Guan Wufeng kissed the top of her head and said gently, "Soon. You need to recover first before we can go. So, eat well and rest up."

"Okay! I will listen to Brother Wufeng."

After their conversation, they both freshened up and headed to the dining room for breakfast. With Grandpa Feng away for an appointment with Grandpa Yan, only the servants were in the house.

Seeing them come downstairs, Uncle Xu approached and said, "Young Master Guan, Miss Xiayan, breakfast is ready. Master said you are both welcome to stay as long as needed. He is also assigned two bodyguards for Miss Xiayan if she wishes to go out."

Guan Wufeng smiled and nodded, "Uncle Xu, please thank Grandpa Feng for us. I will leave Yanyan in your care for a few days. Once everything is ready, I will take her with me."

Uncle Xu nodded with a kind smile and said, "It’s my pleasure, Young Master Guan."

At the same time, in the ICU room of the first hospital, Xiao Chengqiu stood beside Lin Xiao’s bed, looking at him with lowered eyes.

"Lin Xiao, when do you plan to wake up? Do you know that Lin Hao has already taken your position as the CEO and led the Lin Group to ruin?"

"That group is the fruit of your hard work. Are you really going to let them take it away from you like this?" he asked.

Seeing no response, he thought for a moment and continued, "Would you wake up if I told you a secret?"

After a moment of hesitation, he let out a sigh and said, "Lin Xiao, I don’t know if you can hear me, but I’m sure you know you are not the Lin family’s biological son."

"Actually, your biological mother is my paternal aunt. She left home after arguing with my grandfather. I don’t know what happened to her after she left. We only learned about you when you were adopted by the Lin family, and my father saw you at a party."

"Remember when we first met in junior high, and I said I didn’t know you? I lied to you," he asked.

Recalling those days during their youths, Xiao Chengqiu chuckled and said, "I was supposed to study at a different school. But, my Father sent me to go there especially for you."

"My dad was afraid the Lin family would bully you, so he told me to be your friend and help you if that happened. Who knew you would be so tough that no one dared to mess with you?"

"Because I studied at another school, I don’t have a close relationship with our cousins. You are the only one in the entire Xiao family I’m close to. So, cousin, you had better wake up soon, or I will beat you up," he added jokingly.

When he finished his story, he heard a knock on the glass window and saw a nurse pointing at the clock. Knowing it was time to leave, Xiao Chengqiu nodded at the nurse.

Before leaving, he glanced back at his cousin and said, "By the way, Yan Yunci is in a relationship with Chen Yuhan now. If you don’t want to lose her, you had better wake up faster and snatch her back, or she will marry someone else."

As soon as he finished speaking, he left the ICU room, missing the small movement of Lin Xiao’s fingers.
