Chapter 144: Shareholders Meeting ( 1 )
The guard saw the shareholders and greeted them with a smile. One of the guards quickly scanned the door for them and let them in. These people are all people who hold shares in the Feng Group.
Even if they only have 0.5% of the shares, they can easily crush ordinary people like them like ants. As a result, the guards and employees could only lower their heads and treat them like their ancestors.
After a group of people entered the conference room one after another, Feng Bohai finally arrived, followed by his assistant.
Seeing him coming alone, the shareholders looked at each other.
Although no one told them what the agenda of today’s meeting was, everyone could guess that Feng Bohai must have information that could pull Feng Zhexuan down from the position of Feng Group’s CEO, or at least tear off a layer of his skin.
It’s no secret that Feng Bohai’s goal is to sit in the CEO position. As the adopted son of Chairman Feng, his greed and ambition have continued to grow, especially after something happened to Feng Zhexuan’s parents almost twenty years ago and to Feng Zhexuan fifteen years ago.
Feng Bohai entered the conference room with a smile, nodded to everyone, then walked to the main seat and sat down.
The moment he took the main seat, everyone’s eyes flashed with surprise, interest, amusement, and curiosity.
Unless the chairman is present, the main seat is usually occupied by the chief executive. Therefore, Feng Bohai’s taking the seat today is actually showing his intention to get this position.
Although everyone knew about his plot, no one was stupid enough to remind him. After all, no one knew what information he had that made him so confident.
After taking his seat, Feng Bohai looked at everyone with a smile and said, "Good morning, everyone. I believe everyone is curious about the reason for our meeting today."
As he spoke, his secretary handed a folder to the shareholders and sat down on the seat near the wall.
Feng Bohai motioned for everyone to open the folder and continued, "This is the data of the Feng Group’s New York project."
"Everyone has seen that Feng Group has invested 2.4 billion yuan in this project. This project should be completed this year or we need to pay compensation to the investors."
"But there are only five months left in the research period, and the project has not yet reached 50% completion. Based on the current process, it will need at least two more years before the project can be done."
After a while, one of the shareholders closed the folder and asked, "Director Feng, everyone knows about this project. So, what’s the point of bringing this project to today’s meeting?"
Hearing this, Feng Bohai smiled and said, "Although everyone knows about this project, I believe no one knows that there is a discrepancy between the report on this project and the actual amount of funds used."
As soon as he said this, everyone was stunned. Although most of the shares in the Feng Group are owned by the Feng family, the company’s capital is everyone’s money.
If someone embezzled the company’s money, it is equivalent to stealing the company’s money and harming their interests. So, everyone wants to know more about this matter.
"Director Feng, do you know that the person in charge of this project is your nephew, President Feng?" A shareholder asked with a raised eyebrow.
Feng Bohai nodded and said seriously, "Of course I know. However, this incident will harm not only the company, but also everyone’s interests."
"Although I am Zhexuan’s uncle, I am also a shareholder and director of Feng Group. I will not protect him when he does something wrong. Today’s meeting is just to hear the shareholders’ views on this matter."
As soon as these words came out, everyone started discussing in a low voice. They never expected that Feng Bohai would directly accuse Feng Zhexuan of embezzling the company’s money.
While everyone was having a heated discussion, Feng Bohai added, "Although there is conclusive evidence in this matter, we still need to do some investigation."
"Therefore, in order to avoid some disturbances during the investigation, I recommend that Feng Zhexuan be removed from the CEO position. We should choose another person to take over temporarily."
When the shareholders heard his words, they fell silent.
Although Feng Bohai is the adopted son of Chairman Feng, he only owns 1.1% of Feng Group’s shares, while Feng Zhexuan, as the second largest shareholder, owns 31.8% of the shares. Together with Feng Bohai’s shares, the total number of shares they hold is only 31.2%.
Even if everyone joins forces, they can’t defeat his shares. After all, Chairman Feng owns 35% of the shares of Feng Group. Therefore, the only way to remove Feng Zhexuan from the position of CEO is to bring Chairman Feng to their side.
But this is an impossible task. Everyone knows how much Chairman Feng loves and dotes on his grandson.
Out of such considerations, one of the shareholders didn’t want to offend Feng Zhexuan or Grandpa Feng and asked, "Director Feng, if there is conclusive evidence, why don’t you notify President Feng and let him attend our meeting?"
"Mr. Shen is right. We cannot make a decision without giving President Feng a chance to defend himself," another shareholder added.
Feng Bohai was unhappy when he heard this, but he still smiled and said, "I know everyone has some concerns about Zhexuan’s power since he is the second largest shareholder."
"But, I can assure you that even if we remove him today from his position, Chairman Feng won’t be able to protect him. So, this decision will not affect everyone’s interests."
Seeing everyone’s hesitation, Feng Bohai added, "Even if the total number of shares in our hands is only 31.2%, as long as we can contact the person who hold 2% of the shares of Feng Group, it is not impossible to remove Feng Zhexuan from his position as CEO."
