Chapter 87: Chapter 22 Magic Potion Department Public Students
Unlike last time, when Feng Kuo walked through the school gate with a distinguished visitor from outside, the school guards didn’t say a word, let alone step forward to question who the child sitting on Feng Kuo’s shoulder was.
At this moment, Yun Sheng was unaware that Feng Kuo was also a tyrant within the Royal Magic Academy. His nickname was the Human Fighting Machine, and among the more gentle Magic Tutors, Dual Cultivation of Demon and Magic’s Feng Kuo was notoriously domineering.
"Magic Combat and Magic Potions? Does the Magic Academy also have courses for studying Magic Potion preparation?" Yun Sheng heard a new magic term.
"I almost forgot, when you go to the enrollment office to handle your registration later, you’ll also have to immediately choose your future direction in magic learning. After all, you’re starting school later than others, and other Beginner Students have already been studying for two months," Feng Kuo, looking like a rough man, was actually a meticulous person.
He informed Yun Sheng that in the Royal Magic Academy, there were two learning factions: Magic Combat and Magic Potion.
These two were also the two major camps in Yujing Academy at present. The so-called Magic Combat referred to Combat Department magic. As for Magic Potions, they encompassed a variety of magics integrated with pharmacology, including Magic Healing and potion making.
Each Magic Tutor had around three trainees under them, responsible for guiding their students from the level of Magician to Great Magic Director.
Feng Kuo himself was a Combat Magic Instructor, but unfortunately, he already had three trainees in the Combat Magic System. Otherwise, he would have liked to take Yun Sheng under his wing, offering mutual support.
"Magic Healing? Is that Light Magic?" Even though Yun Sheng possessed a Five Elements Magic Soul, she had not been able to perceive the Light Magic Element.
When she encountered the Beast Blood Cloud, Xia Wenxu’s Light Magic had left a deep impression on her.
Another reason she insisted on going to the Magic Academy was because she wanted to learn Light Magic through other avenues outside of the Magic Temple.
"Of course not. After systematically studying magic, you will find that not only Light Magic has healing effects. For example, Water Magic, when combined with Magic Potions, also has healing properties." As a Magic Master, Feng Kuo understood much more about magic than Yun Sheng did.
He pondered for a moment, then added, "There are very few people on the continent who can truly perceive the Light Magic Element. Light Mages with slightly better talent are usually picked up by the Magic Temple in advance. I remember, since the founding of the Magic Academy, there has only been one student discovered to be of the Light Element. Unfortunately, that student’s talent in Magic Combat was embarrassingly poor."
Recalling the student’s first Magic Combat class, Feng Kuo’s facial muscles twitched; it was a memory he’d rather not revisit.
During their conversation, Feng Kuo had already brought Yun Sheng into the Royal Magic Academy’s enrollment office.
When the enrollment office staff heard that Feng Kuo wanted to recommend Yun Sheng as a special recruit to enter the Royal Magic Academy, the instructor’s face showed a hint of difficulty, "Instructor Feng, I’m sorry, but this year’s special recruitment quota for the Combat Department is already full, and we cannot accept this new student."
"Oh! Full, you say? Instructor Fu, I just remembered that your son seems to be in my Combat class. Hmm, next time I have class, I should really give him some pointers," Feng Kuo stroked his chin, his face depicting deep contemplation.
The instructor’s face turned pale with fright, for Feng Kuo, who practiced Dual Cultivation of Magic and Martial, was an outcast among the Magic Tutors who were hardly adept in combat. If his treasured only son were to receive "some pointers" from Feng Kuo, wouldn’t that snap and be the end of him?
Instructor Fu vividly remembered one time, a Fire Element Magic Tutor spoke carelessly in his presence, and without using any magic at all, Feng Kuo beat him so severely that the man spent over a month in the school’s medical facility.
If that young girl could come in sitting on Feng Kuo’s shoulder and be so close to him, she might very well be Feng Kuo’s illegitimate daughter. That was someone they couldn’t afford to offend.
"Wait a second, let me check again," the Magic Tutor was so hurried that he didn’t even have time to wipe the sweat from his forehead, flipping through the documents, "Here we go, there is one more public student position available in the Magic Potion Department. The school can provide breakfast and accommodation for free, but you must help manage a public Medicine Field for the Magic Potion Department."
"A public student of the Magic Potion Department? That’s just a student from the Magic Potion Department. That won’t do. You also know the Magic Potion Department has always been suppressed by the Magic Combat Department," Feng Kuo gave a fierce glare, his bear-like eyes glaring menacingly at the Magic Tutor.
"Master Feng, I’ll just be a public student in the Magic Potion Department. As long as I can enroll quickly, I have no objections," Yun Sheng said after hearing Feng Kuo. Whether it’s the Combat Department or the Magic Potion Department, all Beginner Students must learn Basic Magic.
It didn’t matter which faction Yun Sheng joined, especially since the only person she knew at the Magic Academy, Gu Feng, was also a public student in the Magic Potion Department.
"If that’s the case, then I’ll have to impose on you for now. If you feel out of place later on, you can still transfer departments," seeing that there was no other option, Feng Kuo waved his hand in resignation and reluctantly agreed to let Yun Sheng join the Magic Potion Department.
"Now that the Magic Department is settled, let’s choose a mentor. There are still a few vacancies under these Magic Potion Department mentors," the enrollment office tutor sighed in relief, and his impression of Yun Sheng improved by quite a bit. Fortunately, this child did not inherit her "dad’s" hot-tempered disposition.
At the Magic Academy, it has always been the tutors who choose the trainees. This time, because of Feng Kuo’s interference, Yun Sheng was allowed to choose her own Magic Tutor.
"Let’s go with her," Yun Sheng made her choice quickly and decisively, pointing at one person in the tutor manual.
"Mei Li?! How could you choose that thieving wench!" Little did he know, Feng Kuo’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets upon seeing Yun Sheng’s choice, his face looking as unpleasant as if he were constipated.
Yun Sheng’s choice of Master Mei Li was simple because Gu Feng was Mei Li’s student, and the information showed that Mei Li only had two students, and there was just one spot left.
Yun Sheng just smiled. She wanted to share a mentor with Gu Feng.
Several hours later, when Master Mei Li received the message from the academy, she went ballistic.
"The academy has designated another public student to me? What? And it was Feng Kuo who recommended her? No way, I have to go to the enrollment office. With Feng Kuo recommending people at this time, it mustn’t be anyone good," Master Mei Li was radiating murderous intent on her beautiful face upon hearing the news of getting a new student.
If there was anyone at the Magic Academy whom she couldn’t stand the most, it would be Feng Kuo; if he wasn’t second on the list, no one would be first.
Ironically enough, Feng Kuo felt the same way.
"But, Teacher Mei Li, this new public student is a girl, you know? Haven’t you always been annoyed at not having any female trainees?" Gu Feng and a Green Robed Magic Student stood to one side.
"Hmph, what I wanted was a lively, cute, beautiful, and intelligent female student. Do you think someone with Feng Kuo’s bear-like demeanor could recommend anyone good? Maybe it’s a she-bear. Do you guys really want to study with a new student like that?" Mei Li said through gritted teeth.
"I heard the other party is only six years old and is a Dual Fire and Earth Element Mage," Gu Feng chimed in.
Mei Li’s steps halted.
Looking back at Gu Feng and the Green Robed Magic Student, she heaved a sigh, "Looking at you two, I suddenly feel that a bear might actually be quite an adorable animal."
