Chapter 73: Chapter 8: The Popular Summoner

Feng Kuo, Wenren Xu, and Mu Nanyan are members of the somewhat famous "Huangteng" Hunter Soldier Team in the Yujing Bounty Realm.

The three of them are respectively a Dual Cultivator of Magic and Martial Arts, a Martial Artist, and a Mage. Wenren Xu specializes in attack, Mu Beiyang’s Earth Magic specializes in defense, and Feng Kuo is balanced in both offense and defense.

The trio has been teamed up for five years now, and if it weren’t for Feng Kuo keeping them in check, Wenren Xu and Mu Beiyang would have already fought each other to the death.

Mu Nanyan took a sip of Meditation Water, raising her eyebrows.

"You tomboy, don’t drink it all at once, it’s a total waste giving it to you, like pearls to swine," Wenren Xu grumbled.

"Boss, this Meditation Water..." Mu Nanyan smacked her lips, feeling a vigorous surge of Magic Power rise within her like roaring waves, instantly spreading out, rendering her speechless.

"Could there be something wrong with the potion?" Wenren Xu also grew uncertain, being a Martial Artist, he hadn’t researched Meditation Water.

Feng Kuo, who was about to lecture them, also took a bottle of Meditation Water and took a sip.

For Mages, Meditation Water can sometimes be a lifesaver.

For Bounty Hunters, who make their living on the knife-edge, if Magic Power can recover 10% faster when facing Demon Beasts, sometimes that can mean the difference between life and death.

After trying it, Feng Kuo’s eyes sparkled intensely, and he couldn’t help exclaiming, "An improved version of Meditation Water!"

"Yes, boss, you noticed too, the taste is almost like those from Medicine Emperor Pavilion, but the effect is astounding, it must be some kind of newly improved Meditation Water," Mu Beiyang no longer had the mind to quarrel with Wenren Xu.

As an Earth Mage, when she drank the Meditation Water, the recovery speed of her Earth Magic Elements was twice as fast as usual.

That means, when facing Mages of the same level, as long as she has this Meditation Water, she would be in an invincible position.

"Who is that young girl? How much of this improved Meditation Water does she have? We’ll buy them all," Feng Kuo realized that the creator of this Meditation Water likely didn’t know its true value.

Since Wenren Xu bought all the finished medicine in one go, Yun Sheng gave him the best price, equaling one and a half silver coins per bottle of Meditation Water. To know, in Medicine Emperor Pavilion, a bottle of ordinary Meditation Water costs five silver coins. In the view of Feng Kuo and Mu Nanyan, this improved Meditation Water, even a gold coin would be selling it short.

"I... I didn’t know," Wenren Xu caught between the two, was utterly confused.

He simply did a good deed that day by buying the young girl’s medicine; little did he know that her products would be of such high quality.

"Tomorrow we will continue to wait here. If she comes out to buy medicine, we’ll buy it all up. It’s best to also find out who made this medicine," Whether it was Mu Nanyan or Feng Kuo, they naturally assumed Yun Sheng was selling the medicine to help her elders.

"Uh," Wenren Xu broke out in a cold sweat on his forehead and said weakly: "I told her she was too young to continue setting up a stall."

Two hostile gazes immediately swept over him, "But, I also told her to send me any of her finished medicine as soon as she gets them."

"What if she doesn’t send them?" Mu Nanyan felt like strangling Wenren Xu.

"They should send it, they must send it!" Wenren Xu spoke more and more uncertainly.

He wasn’t very sure either. If that little thing didn’t know the way, or if she found another buyer, then the improved Meditation Water would be gone.

But finding a nameless little girl in such a vast Yujing, the difficulty was perhaps too great.

"Well, let’s just wait. I called you here today because of the matter of the Bounty Hunters’ assessment. We have been stuck at the C level of Bounty Hunters for quite a while. According to our qualifications and the total bounty accumulated over these years, we should have been promoted to B level by now," Feng Kuo, along with Wenren Xu and Mu Nanyan, all Yujing citizens, discussed.

Although the three are Bounty Hunters, each of their families is a well-known noble family in Yujing. Being playmates since childhood due to their ancestors’ relationships, it was under Feng Kuo’s proposal five years ago that they formed "Huangteng".

All three of them are quite capable and with their well-coordinated efforts, they have made a name for themselves in the world of Bounty Hunters.

However, the level of the Bounty Mercenary remained at C, which has always been a sore point for the proud trio.

After all, only Bounty Hunters of B level and above can take on bounty tasks that cross national borders.

"Our strength has long been sufficient for B level, it’s just that we have always failed to find the right Summoner," Wenren Xu grumbled as he drank his wine.

Unlike those inconsequential minor hunters, to become a Bounty Hunter team of B level or higher, there’s a rigid requirement - the team must consist of at least one Martial Artist, one Mage, and one Summoner.

This rigid requirement was set by the founders of the Hunter Soldier Union - the three SSS level hunters who are also legends of Divine Blade Mercenary Team on the continent.

All hunters on the continent must abide by it, and a qualifying Hunter Team also needs to challenge a B-level Hunting Corps. Only if the challenge is successful can they advance.

"Finding a Summoner is not easy. You also see, in recent years, as soon as Summoners certified by the Yujing Summoning Institute step out the door, they’re snatched up. In ten years, no more than twenty Summoners have come out from the Yujing Summoning Institute. Those people live in comfort and luxury; who would want to be a Bounty Hunter? The national power of Great Zhou is declining, and in its Martial Artists, there hasn’t been anyone like General Yun again. Meanwhile, other countries are brimming with talents, especially Summoners from Penglai, making them have the most B-level or higher hunter teams among these great nations," Mu Nanyan couldn’t help but sigh.

They became Bounty Hunters not out of greed for money but more for the adventurous missions that only Bounty Hunters could undertake.

But members of a Bounty Hunter team must be absolutely trustworthy, otherwise, in the face of life-and-death crises, betrayal by a team member could cause the entire team to collapse.

Summoners can summon War Beasts, consuming fewer Magic Elements compared to using Magic, equating the presence of a Summoner to having two members under the same conditions. Thus, even if the B-level Bounty Hunters’ assessment criteria were removed, their chances of winning in a battle against a B-level Hunting Corps would be almost zero.

In the past ten years, not a single group has succeeded in challenging a B-level Hunting Corps with C-level Bounty Hunter credentials.

"Let’s wait and see, we’ll keep looking for a while longer, and in these next one or two years, we will also focus on improving our cultivation," Feng Kuo’s words met with unanimous agreement from Wenren Xu and Mu Nanyan.

While "Huangteng" was anxious to find a Summoner, Yun Sheng was still in the medical hall, daily repeating the chores of a Medicine Gathering Boy.

The Medicine Field she cultivated, after meticulous care for a few days, finally sprouted, including a batch of Moonlight Grass she brought from Banana Leaf Village.

During a month of free time, Yun Sheng also concocted over ten bottles of Qi Gathering Powder and five bottles of Meditation Water. She planned to visit Wenren Xu to sell her medicine, but an unexpected event abruptly disrupted her plans.
