Chapter 1588: Chapter 1587: Deliberately Distracting Enna Clark

Less than ten minutes had passed, and Enna Clark had already arrived at Lawrence Headquarters.

"Good day, Secretary Clark," the receptionist greeted her promptly upon seeing her.

With a slight upward curve of her lips, Enna Clark politely returned the greeting, "Good day."

Then she headed for the elevator.

She was going to the President’s office, so she took the Exclusive Elevator directly. Initially, this elevator was installed with a fingerprint recognition system and could only be ridden by Baron Lawrence. Later on, someone imperiously added her fingerprint too, hence it became accessible to just her and Baron Lawrence.

Since it could save time by going directly to the 66th floor, Enna Clark certainly didn’t want to waste time stopping at every other floor.

Two minutes later.

"Ding—" The elevator chimed, announcing her arrival at the desired floor.

She had just reached the door to the President’s office, not yet knocking to enter, when Baron Lawrence’s assistant came over, looking rather hurried, "Secretary Clark, didn’t the President say you were feeling unwell and wouldn’t come to the company today?"

Baron Lawrence had even asked for leave on her behalf?

Warmth spread through Enna Clark’s heart, but she wasn’t foolish enough to expose the lie Baron Lawrence had told for her, and she said with a smile, "I feel much better after a nap. Is President Lawrence inside or has he gone for a meeting?"

With such a significant issue at hand, Baron Lawrence must be very busy, possibly in another meeting.

In any case, these past few days, his meetings had been so numerous they were countless. On average, there was one every half hour.

"So that’s it. The President is inside." The assistant seemed hesitant to speak, his expression anxious, as if there was something pressing on his mind. He glanced at her, then suddenly, as if struck by a thought, said, "Ah, right, Secretary Clark, you’ve arrived at the perfect time, could you help me, help the President, make a cup of coffee? I need to run to the Project Department for an urgent matter and can’t stray far. The President has requested coffee, and I cannot trust anyone else with this, only you."

Seeing his genuinely rushed demeanor, Enna Clark thought he needed to urgently get to the Project Department, and coffee brewing wasn’t a big deal, so she agreed, "You go ahead, I’ll make it for you."

The assistant breathed a sigh of relief and before leaving, looked earnestly at her and instructed, "The President prefers his coffee brewed longer, so Secretary Clark, remember to brew it a bit more."

"Okay."

"I’ll be off then." He left, looking back three steps at a time, seemingly worried.

Enna Clark watched him leave before turning and heading to the pantry.

Having spent some time in the Planning Department, she knew its pantry was already quite large and luxurious, but it still paled in comparison to the President’s office’s. In addition to being larger, the pantry of the President’s office offered an array of complimentary pastries.

All varieties of expensive coffees were also freely available for the taking.

Enna Clark found the exclusive coffee beans that Baron Lawrence had bought from abroad, poured a bit into the coffee machine, added water, pressed the button, and then sat down to wait.

It was only after she sat down that she remembered the phone call from earlier.

She recalled that someone had imperiously demanded she must arrive at the office within ten minutes.

She was here now, though he hadn’t seen her yet, but it was better to send him a message, lest he accuse her of being as slow as a snail later on.

Enna Clark curved her mouth into a smile, took out her phone, and sent a message from the table.

She had expected Baron Lawrence to reply immediately, but after waiting for a few minutes, there was no response from the other end.

Enna Clark was puzzled but didn’t think much of it, simply assuming he must be busy with something and hadn’t seen the message on his phone.

She had things to do as well.

She took out her phone, found Edward Jackson’s number, and called.

After just two rings, the call was answered immediately.

Enna Clark spoke with clear and calm eyes, "Little Uncle, can you do me a favor?"
