Chapter 1565: Chapter 1565: It’s Good When He Relaxes
Enna Clark saw that he had relaxed and followed suit. She was worried only if Baron Lawrence remained uptight. After relaxing, Enna smiled slightly and agreed quickly, "Okay."
She grilled a few more pieces of pork belly and placed some shrimp on the side. After flipping them a couple of times, the vermicelli scallops started to bubble, and a scent of seafood mixed with garlic hit her nose. Enna checked to see if the scallops were cooked through, and once sure, she placed some onto his plate and also took one for herself.
"Lots of comments said their vermicelli scallops are especially delicious. I wasn’t sure if they would be good, so I only ordered four. Try one and see if it’s tasty. If it is, I’ll ask the server to bring more," she said.
"Vermicelli scallops?" Baron Lawrence was eating this dish for the first time.
Seafood is usually found in Western food, but Western cuisine isn’t keen on shellfish, let alone adding something as inelegant as garlic for flavoring. At most, escargot are served.
Dishes like these, with vermicelli on top of scallops, topped with stir-fried minced garlic and millet pepper, were new to him.
Baron Lawrence tried one; the vermicelli had completely absorbed the seafood’s freshness after being grilled over charcoal, further enhanced by the flavors of minced garlic and millet pepper, maximizing the savory taste of the seafood. Moreover, the freshly grilled scallops were still hot, and the hotter they were, the more delicious they tasted.
A light sparked in Baron Lawrence’s eyes.
"Order some more," he said.
Enna tried one too, and indeed, it was delicious. "Mhm."
She called over the server and ordered a large serving, then handed over a Wong Lo Kat herbal drink that was brought to their table, saying, "I’ll grill some vegetables later to cleanse our palate, maybe eggplant."
Eating only meat could quickly become boring, so it was essential to intersperse some vegetables in between to change up the flavors.
"I want shiitake mushrooms," Baron Lawrence didn’t forget to mention his preference.
"Okay, I’ll tell the server next time they come by us," she replied.
"Hmm," Baron Lawrence nodded, busy eating his scallops. He seemed to really enjoy the spicy sauce here, devouring the vermicelli first before dipping the scallop into the sauce to eat.
Enna had never seen such an unconventional way of eating before, but she didn’t dare comment.
After all, Baron Lawrence’s style was to do as he pleased, and besides, there were no rules dictating that scallops had to be eaten with vermicelli.
Baron Lawrence hadn’t eaten anything all day, and Enna hadn’t eaten much either, so they were both very hungry.
She relaxed, grilled more food, and served the dominant man’s plate first before starting on her own portion.
The meal took over an hour, and they nearly finished everything they had ordered. Enna’s stomach was full, and after paying the bill, she casually suggested to the man who had also eaten his fill, "I’m so full, Baron Lawrence, let’s take a walk to digest a little."
Baron Lawrence knew she wanted to walk. Since Scott Harris hadn’t called and Enna had taken the rare initiative to hold onto his arm, he didn’t refuse. "Where to?" he asked.
Nowhere in particular, just around this area to get some fresh air and to aid digestion. Otherwise, the bloated feeling in my stomach is uncomfortable," Enna said, pulling on his arm. Suddenly, she pointed excitedly toward a crowded area, "What’s going on over there? Let’s go have a look."
As soon as she spoke, she took his hand and walked forward.
They arrived at a small plaza where many people had already gathered. Approaching, they realized there was a public performance, someone playing the piano and singing.
