Chapter 1532: Chapter 1532: The Successor Chosen by Edward Jackson
"Duke, please follow me."
Following the little boy out of the car was a tall and straight man. Although the signs of age could be seen in his eyes and brows, they did not detract from his handsomeness; on the contrary, the traces between his eyebrows and eyes endowed him with a mature charm distinct from that of a pretty boy.
The man’s features were strong and well-defined, and coupled with his unique hazel eyes, he seemed half-blood at first glance. Yet upon closer inspection, one would realize that his features, though robust, were not actually of mixed heritage.
As soon as he stepped out of the car, he immediately became the center of attention.
Many people looked in his direction, whispering among themselves.
"It’s the Duke of Habsden."
"I didn’t realize he was in Spirelin City too."
"I didn’t expect the Duke of Habsden to be here as well."
"Who is that little boy by his side? Isn’t it said that the Duke of Habsden isn’t married yet? Could he be an illegitimate child?"
"I haven’t heard anything about that."
The whispering around was very soft, almost inaudible.
Edward Jackson got out of the car and extended his hand to hold Bobby, gently stating, "Let’s go, we should head inside, Tobias."
"Okay." Bobby had sharp ears and picked up some of the murmurings, but he didn’t care at all. His beautiful face was cool, utterly ignoring the attention from around him. Following by Edward’s side, he had an air that was not at all childlike.
He had no interest in such occasions, simply accompanying his Grand Uncle for a visit.
Had it not been for his Grand Uncle’s fondness for taking him to these events, introducing him to others, he would have been too idle to deal with the adults.
Tobias Clark, bored to the extreme, was wearing a Panlda tailored suit designed just for him, and stepped forward. His beautiful phoenix eyes stared straight ahead unblinkingly, as if the attention surrounding him couldn’t capture his notice at all.
Edward’s identity was special.
Once he entered the venue, someone immediately came up to him to exchange pleasantries.
Edward was known as a "smiling tiger," always looking gentle and amiable to everyone. As long as he wasn’t provoked, he seemed like a very easygoing and refined man. As soon as someone approached to chat, Edward would immediately introduce Bobby by his side.
"Tobias, this is Uncle Nick."
Although extremely impatient, Tobias’s fair little face did not show it, and he greeted him smartly and politely, "Hello, Uncle Nick."
"How adorable," the middle-aged man who was addressed beamed with pleasure and praised him. Then he looked up at Edward and asked, "Duke, this is...?"
"My little grandnephew." Edward mentioned Bobby, his tone becoming involuntarily warmer, and he said with a smile in his eyes, "He’s been learning stock trading from me recently. I’ll be counting on you to look after him more in the future."
"He’s stock trading at such a young age?" The man exclaimed in surprise, "OMG!"
Pride filled Edward’s eyes as he glanced at Bobby, who only reached his waist, and said with a smile, "He’s just learning, but Tobias has quite a talent for it. I’d like to nurture that, thinking he could pursue it further in the future."
He used the word "nurture."
The middle-aged man’s look at Tobias immediately changed.
Was the Duke of Habsden implying that this young boy would be the Habsden Family’s future heir?
"That’s impressive. My son is already in his twenties and still hasn’t even grasped the basics," the man laughed heartily, "Sure, bring him over to my place some time. I don’t know much, but I can at least be a half-baked teacher."
That was exactly what Edward wanted to hear, a calculating light flashing in his eyes as he deflected the conversation.
